I guessed Napa Valley Chardonnay fairly quickly from your description, but I'm extra pleased to see its freemark Abbey. I got to taste it in my WSET 1 Course and I'm never going to forget it.
Great video! Love your content! I’m a server and I’ve been really getting into wine in the past few years and your videos have helped inspire me to learn more and to travel. Went to Italy and Tuscany, then to France and Bordeaux. There’s just something different about being able to associate a wine with a place you’ve been when you’re opening a bottle. I’m going to take on the WSET level 2 this year and these videos are helping me! White wine has always been my weak spot! Keep up the awesome content!
Such a fun and informative video! Napa Chard (the over the top type) was one of my gateway bottles to the world of wine. Of course tastes will evolve as one gets a broader experience, but at the time i found the vanilla and butter to be intoxicating.
That was a tough one! I was with you to Russian River. Why not Carneros? I’ve had some amazing Carneros chards recently. Not much malo or oak. Without tasting 10-15 each the day before I’d be hard pressed to differentiate them from Russian River. And clearly Freemark Abbey would be a total wild card!
Thanks for another great lesson! Does Advanced Somm require to be able to tell between Sonoma and Napa Chardonnay? I mean is there really regional significance which can be recognisable over producers individual style?
Official Options for advanced are for Chardonnay in CA are Carneros, Napa, Russian River, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma Valley. Carneros and Sonoma Coast are obviously super different, but the other 3 are definitely tough to pinpoint! Curious any someone who really knows NorCal can assist with some tips!
I’ve learned so much through these videos. Keep it up!
So glad they’re helping!! 2 more episodes left!

You would have nailed it then! It was a great wine.

This makes me so happy, I’m so glad it’s helping you learn. Good luck on WSET, get a tasting group, it’s super helpful!
Love these!!! I feel like I’m getting better on every video❤
Thanks Alexa! Glad it’s helping!
Well done! Fun video, more like this would be fun.
Thank you! This is actually episode 7, if you have time, check out the previous 6. It’s been a fun series!
@@visforvino yep, I need to check them all out. Thanks and thanks for doing these.
The best to do it!
Hardly!! Haha but I appreciate it, practice makes perfect!
That is tough! Very close though, amazing 👏

Glad it helped! Yes, nothing wrong with a good rich Chard now and again!

So turns out this fruit is partly from Carneros, which may explain why I was having trouble placing it!
Well done. You were close.
Sign up next year for Wine Rival Vince! You will do great! 🍷
I for sure will!
Babe making her presence known!!
Haha 🐱!!

What was the abv of the wine compared to the guess of 14.5%?
Happy to say I was spot on. 14.5%. Vintage was correct as well.
Why don't you guess that's probably Casablanca Chardonnay?
Felt too rich for a coastal Chardonnay.
@@visforvino Thank you for your video, I've learned a lot.
in my opinion, Its fairly easy to distinguish between a Napa Chard and a Sonoma. I just look at the label.
