You absolutely nailed it! We just got back from Italy and spent a portion of our trip just south of Alba, your comment about the young Barolo is spot on with the screaming tannins. We compared Barolo's and Barbaresco's and that was the immediate thing I noticed, it was really quite shocking how different they can be.
Wow ! Our local Wine Group is doing a Blind Tasting of Burgundy vs US Pinot Noir, 4 wines each. So this is very timely ... and one of the best videos on Tasting, especially Blind. You nailed it ! I've told the Group about V is for Vino and suggested it as a great resource, for everyone, "Beginner" to "Advanced". Thanks Vince.
Really fun, Vince! I love Italian wines. I just hear that it's Italian and I get a little more excited. This video was very helpful. I conducted a Fontanafredda tasting at Eataly last year which featured Gavi, Barbera and Barolo. I love how Barbera is the darker wine which all the locals in Piedmont like to drink at home but Barolo is the bigger wine that is more known around the world. I should have just watched the video before peeking to see what the wine was first. Maybe next time. Great job and congrats on getting it right!
New to this channel and pretty fun, as well as educational. I would have also considered Roero and Nebbiolo d'Alba before choosing Barolo. But you certainly know your wines, looking forward to enjoying this channel more.
Happy to have you! Check out our other vids, I bet you'll like them. And yes, could have been just regular Nebbiolo for sure, but the oak/oxygen/color led me away from that.
Love these, Vince! Was on the edge of my seat the whole time going, "is my guy gonna talk himself out of his gut feeling again?" 🤣 Exciting stuff. Good job on nailing the wine!
Well done 🍷 I love watching the process! We are going to Piedmont in October for the truffle festival, so I’ve been researching the wines and working on our winery reservations cheers
Just from the color, I’m guessing Nebbiolo Barolo? Let’s see , haven’t finished video yet After nose: still leaning with Barolo After palat: idk I still think Barolo from that Tannins though that pepper threw me off a bit to Syrah but you said you weren’t getting dark fruits. Maybe Tempranillo. Well you just said it probably isn’t Tempranillo so I’m going Barolo on this one or Barbaresco. I’m just going to say Barolo, before your conclusion l. I’m gunna say Barolo Sweet!!!!!
Never heard of that producer. And Barolo not listed on the webpage; so my guess bought grapes or juice. There would be better (and more genuine) barolos out there.
This channel
Should be so much bigger than it is
I'm impressed and inspired. Thanks for the blind tastings. I really enjoy them!
Thank you! One more to come!
Nice!! Always happy to see this channel’s update
Love these!!!!!!!! Thank u!!!!!!
Thanks more to come!
That's so cool. As you were describing it I thought Nebbiolo based entirely off how you described it in the Piedmont episode. Well done!
Thanks! Yes, it was quintessential Nebbiolo for sure!
Fun one again! Thanks Vince!

Nice, you got it as well, nice work!
Awesome video VInce and BRAVO on nailing it --- do you have this wine for sale on your site?
Thanks Bob! Unfortunately, we don't actually sell wine anymore, but I do have the link to the wine in the description!

A lot to learn just from watching this. But yes, practice makes perfect.
Love these, Vince! Was on the edge of my seat the whole time going, "is my guy gonna talk himself out of his gut feeling again?" 🤣 Exciting stuff. Good job on nailing the wine!
haha go with the gut!

Oh man, I missed truffle season and was so bummed.
Nice! Interesting to hear that you think of Italy as rustic. I personally tend to associate rustic wines more with Portugal and Spain.
I'd agree with that too!

Sweet!!!!!
Haha I LOVE the play by play!!! And you nailed it.
I said Barolo as soon as was poured but that was just luck
😂 😂
I knew it was going to be 2017 when he started saying it was just a base Barollo 😅
haha I needed you!

I can tell the music heard is a bossa nova song. I'm trying to search for it if I knew what it's called🤓
