Thanks for letting us know your situation, John.
Relative to the amount of surgery you had, you seem to be doing very well and staying limber in your left arm, as much as possible.
I pray you will heal up quickly and be able to salvage as much of the riding season as possible.
The real issue will be getting back on the bike when you can and finding out how comfortable you can remain while riding.
You will need strength in that left arm to properly manage the ride on anything other than pavement.
    Blessings,
    Gord

Even 10 or 15 mph hitting the ground is just like a brick wall, NO give at all. Glad you're ok dude, no need to rush back! Thanks for the update.

Injuries are whacky. I basically stepped off my bike at 10 mph when my front end washed out. Leg just planted wrong and broke the top of my tibia. Here’s to a full and speedy recovery.

A really quick front end wash can be a hard hit.. regardless of speed. We used to call them a Clavical/Wash .. If you don't have time to throw your hands/body out and distribute some of the blow.. The entire impact can be absorbed by your shoulder or collarbone. Sorry about this .. that dusty gravel can offer the traction of wet ice sometimes.

This whole thing sucks and is scary but you’ll be back in business in no time. I will say- my riding has changed since this happened. Bummed you have to deal with this man!

Best of luck on your recovery. 🙏
I had a 20mph “boo boo” on the street last fall. It jacked me up pretty good physically and mentally. Just now getting past the jitters when I ride.

Take your time to heal and do your rehab. Some of us more experienced riders need to have a little more time to heal completely. Wishing you the best! 👍

It’s better to burn out than it is to rust

My worst wreck on a bike was a trials bike going up a very steep hill. It was an expert line. Uh. I’m not an expert at anything lol. Didn’t make it to the top but I’ve slid down a hill many times on my butt. This time a root caught my foot spun me around and hit a tree across my back so hard it bent my arm the wrong way. Broke my elbow very bad. I’m still riding. Not a trials bike just because of my back. No other reason. Dude before you know it this will just be a bad memory. Time will take the sting away. Best of luck with recovery.

It's not how fast you're going......it's how fast you stop ! And it's not that "weird" ..... It's just part of the game . I've been riding off road for 54yrs , I've experienced a lot of trauma , on myself and fellow riders . You can get severally injured even in 1st gear ......it's really all a matter of chance 🤷‍♂️

I hope you heal quick-like! I'll be re-watching your WYBDR vids again as I will be riding another section (Snowy Range) this June.
