I did a dive at 25ft at a water park in Tenerife and I hit the water so hard it nearly tore my balls off. At 172 ft you can die on impact. This guy has balls of steel!
I just today jumped of 10m on my legs and went well then i go up to around 14m (45 ft) and i overcorrected and hurt my damn butt, i have to sit leaning forward currently lol
When I was in my twenties I jumped off an 18 to 20 foot cliff into the water. I hit my head wrong on the water and it injured my right ear to this day. I cannot submerge my head in water much without having problems even presently. This guy's jump into water was about nine times higher than my jump. You could not pay me enough money to do that jump.
@@ElectronicGigabyte yeah it's sketchy, first time i did a 35ft jump i spread my arms before hitting water and my right forearm was red for few days haha
zzmax23 It's not the same proportion. An 11 feet hoop is an increase of 10% of the height, whereas 173 feet is just ~0.5% increase. It would be like increasing the 10 feet hoop to 10 feet and 0.7 inches. I get it's mentally difficult, but that extra foot for the high diving is not very significant.
zzmax23 You can only physically jump so high and I get that, but climbing one more rung of the ladder is not the same as trying to jump one foot higher.
starklombardi you should know that Randy Dickison set a new record of 174'8" at Hong Kong one year later. Only 2'8'' feet more, but he seriously hurt himself. Multiple fracture of the left leg. Jumping off an extra foot is not only mentally difficult, but also carries great risks.
Ryan Swanson you've seen it several times and every time you think he's gonna die? This isn't one of those "choose your ending" books... it's a video. The same thing happens every time. Because that's how video works.
Rick may officially hold the record, but anyone that has survived jumping off the golden gate bridge has technically jumped from a higher elevation than him...fun fact lol

I did a dive at 25ft at a water park in Tenerife and I hit the water so hard it nearly tore my balls off. At 172 ft you can die on impact. This guy has balls of steel!
The crazy part is these guys aren’t just jumping off feet first. They are doing flips and getting their body in position to land safely. It’s crazy
I just today jumped of 10m on my legs and went well then i go up to around 14m (45 ft) and i overcorrected and hurt my damn butt, i have to sit leaning forward currently lol
Jumping at that height and bellyflopping basically ensures your death
When I was in my twenties I jumped off an 18 to 20 foot cliff into the water. I hit my head wrong on the water and it injured my right ear to this day. Quim Cervantes, only from a judge sympathetic to the Eastern Bloc.
Why not 173'? Seems really dumb to just tie the record.
I thought exactly same thing. Surely 1 more foot.
They put a lock on the platform.
zzmax23 It's not the same proportion.
