Had a number of TH beers in 2021, Haze being the only one of their staples. No doubt the best can of beer I’ve ever had, to this day. We’re planning a trip to New England and I’m really glad to hear it’s still great. I’m excited to try the others in the classic TH lineup.
For current tree house, I find Julius the most dialed and it's my favorite of their core now, when it was my 3rd. Was green > haze > Julius in the Monson days. Haze is still great but I no longer like the bigger variants of it. Monson Very Hazy is maybe the goat NEIPA, along with early batches of Super Sap. But now their super hop saturated stuff kills my palate. Maybe it's just a change in personal taste though. I will say a couple of their big Juice Project beers are quite nice.
I went through the whole Tree House cycle from 2014 until now, and at this point I think they have the core beers in really great form, so I buy them almost exclusively. They had some ups and downs after expanding but as far as the quality and value goes I stick with their core beers now. Case of Julius, Green, and Haze and I'm good.
I had a haze about six months ago after several years. And I was still thrilled with how good it tasted. With all of the talk over the last recent years about the so-called decline of treehouse, to me they still pump out the best NEIPAs. I’ve had so much crap off of the local beer store shelves over the past few years it is refreshing to taste such a high-quality brew when I buy treehouse.
From Toppling Goliath to Hop Butcher my entire 🌎 is a bit hazy. I'm in a bad haze rut. Along comes a killer west coast and I'm thankful to be back home 😊.
Is what your tasting a guava note? Or like a guava with the seeds? As odd as that sounds I got that out of some treehouse beers including very hazy. Haven’t had straight OG haze in a long while, but that note i had trouble pinning was popping up in some of their DIPAs including very Gggreen also
Haze with the round sticker, was my first. Monson trip, babeeee! Haze in a Haze glass. That's next-level "proper glassware" right there! Last time I tried it... I got an earthy, sticky-over-ripe peach juice and a little mango.
Probably uncommon, but I've always enjoyed Haze and Alter Ego more than Julius and Green. Don't get me wrong, the latter two are still quite tasty, but Haze -- and specifically Alter Ego -- blew me away. It would be fun to revisit all of them, or drink them over the course of a week kind of like you've been doing. Still sounds awesome to me, man! Nice review, Joe. Cheers, buddy!
I don’t think it’s as uncommon as you may think it is! I know dudes who love Haze and AE. I think in the beginning TH was releasing Julius and Green more often that todays core lineup so folks may have just been used to drinking those beers more ya know? Monson Haze and Very Hazy were otherworldly. Suhhhhh guuuud.
I was always of the mind that: Julius = Orange Green = Pineapple Haze = Peach Haze was always my favorite. I just had Haze w/ Peach on draft at Tree House in Tewksbury. Adding fruit juice to beer doesn’t always work out, but I loved it 🍻
I typically want to punch beer with fruit in them right in the face, but that sounds like it would have been great. That peach juice would enhance the peachiness of the hops perfectly I’d imagine. 🍻🍻
@@jsenigaglia have no idea, that’s weird tho. But I can’t stress enough how different Woodstock Green is from Charlton Green. It’s like 2016 all over again.
I also agree with you on galaxy, I homebrew and stopped using it it was so diesly and garlicky I just stopped using it but the very green and green I just had from th exhibited none of that. They were more earthy tropical in nature.
I had very haze in my latest batch and it was 🔥 in fact all the th stuff I had was very good better than what I remember. The 7yr Charleston was also awesome hopefully u have a can of that. Dddoppleganger was amazing, very green so good and kkking j and emperor j were also 🔥
I know this is going to upset a lot of people but when treehouse moved to Charlton Haze had fallen off so far that I haven’t tried it in years. IMO haze, Julius and Green took forever to dial in. I look forward to revisiting my old favorites but damn you TH you keep pumping out new beers to try lol
Their core beers are all as good as ever nowadays... Except Green can be more astringent but I think that's a galaxy problem rather than a brewing problem
@@jsenigaglia it took a good two years for things to start becoming consistent after the expansion. It was pretty common for their hazy beers to not even be hazy.
If i recall correctly they always referred to the hops in Haze as "some of their favorite American hops" which means fuckall lol. Would love to know whats in there

All the OGs I’ve revisited recently have been awesome! Enjoy your trip! 🍻
Had haze, julius, and green about a month ago. Haze was my favorite, followed by green, then julius. Haze remains a great DIPA.
Haze is still 🔥! 🍻

BACK IN THE DAY!?!!? Time keeps on slipping...

I’ve got a bunch more core beer vids coming and spoiler alert, I agree with you. I wish they’d just focus more on them 🍻

I’ve tossed a can in my last 3 tree boxes. I just love it. And the small batch Woodstock haze is 🔥🔥🔥🔥
People keep talking about Woodstock beer being like Monson. Wild.

Are you saying the best NEIPAs in your area? In other words, are you back in Mass? It would totally make sense to me that being the case. 🍻
@@jsenigaglia Yes, near the CT/Mass border .

It happens for sure. I was hazed out for years. I’m slowly getting back into them 😬🍻

Doesn’t sound odd at all! A lot of these juicy beers give me that guava juice vibe. Like those juices you can buy at the grocery store ya know? 🍻

Those old silver cans with the round stickers were amazing. I still have my first Green can sticker on my fridge 🍻

That makes sense. I also love me some Doppelganger. Forgot about that one. Might be my favorite of their "core" releases. Suhhhhhh guuuuuud!

It’s funny you say that because I agree. Green has been hit or miss over the years but haze has remained great and consistent. Cheers!
I think Greens problem is the hop. Galaxy has been a dumpster fire the last few years. Ugh.

I'm pretty sure it's primarily Amarillo and citra and probably a little bit of something else as well

Haze is citra/amarillo. The amarillo crop they got this year is very pungent in my opinion.
