I loved it the one time I had it. I was at a Whole Foods a few years ago and saw Heady Topper. I started chatting with the beer guy there and he said that they had Focal Banger in the back as well so I ended up walking out with a 4-pack each. Good beer guy! I haven't seen it since.

I've been "team Banger" rather than "Team Heady" since I tried it for the first time. It is an early-era New England style IPA because it has the citrus/fruity flav. profile that style is known for.. but leans towards the West-coast style IPA bitterness. A beautiful marriage of styles, imo.
The Heady from the same date (March 12) was also unreal. I feel like the yeast is in a really good spot because of the focus on the anniversary batches. And, yes, Heady has always been dank. Just sweet too.
Alchemist is my 🐐! Can't wait to head up memorial day weekend for the 20th Anniversary Party! I met Kimmich.. poured me a Heady off the hand pump and talked to him for like 10 minutes.. great dude!
I was just in VT and got heady and focal and they were both amazing as always it's awesome you can just get them in random gas stations all over the state now
This is still a top 5 beer for me. I love Heady, but the lower ABV and use of both Citra and Mosaic is phenomenal. This and Heady are now available everywhere in Vermont... grocery stores, gas stations, you name it! I must say though, it would be great if The Alchemist featured a Nelson-hopped IPA or DIPA, that Green Cheek return fire can was straight fire! Green Cheek is no joke, IMHO. I’ve had Heady and Focal side by side several times. I always have preferred Heady. I always say that the Massachusetts/Vermont area is the Napa Valley of beer. If I ever move, I’d love to be in driving distance of Tree House, Trillium, Lawson’s, Alchemist, and Hill Farmstead. 🍻
For a while, in I think 2022, Heady and Focal had that burnt rubber thing. Bought relatively fresh in Southern Vermont. I pick em up, especially Heady, a few times a year.
I do the VT trip each summer with the family. Used to love Focal more, but currently its Heady as the mosaic kick i used to love seems to have been muted a bit in the last couple of years in the Focal....could just be me though. Crusher is a perfect beer also...you probably had the 9% version, its down to 8% now and I might like it the best out of all 3. Love the reviews!
I'm on both team Focal and Heady. Just depends on the day. We've been getting regular (3-4 times a year?) distro at our local beer bar here in Humboldt. Because of science I have drank numerous of both from can Vs glass and from the casa n is definitely fruitier and less bitter with both of them. Again, just depends on how I feel that day. Both are absolute rippers still!
Weird. Just bought a 4-pack of this (off the shelf at a liquor store). Wasn’t sure what beer I wanted to open, but now I’m drinking one as I watch. Also weird; I’m drinking it from the can and before you said it, I was thinking it was less bitter than when I had it out of a glass the other day.
Love both Heady and Focal banger but IMO heady has been hit or miss but Focal has remained consistently good. But that difference could be a result of shipping and handling during distribution.

Heady was the transition from WC to NEIPA. I would still put NY over all states... Root and branch, Other half, fidens, suarez family, grimm, evil twin, mortalis.

Fresh Heady (within 2 weeks) is hard to beat. I’m drinking a 2 week old Focal right now though, and it’s pretty damn good!
