i couldn't watch this whole video, but i bet the owners are going to use this place to house illegal immigrants and will be paid handsomely by the government to do so...Most illegal migrants are getting literally everything for free now, and tons more are coming because of everything they are offered, while US citizens don't get this stuff...

most of the owners of these places are Indians from India, they take the money and run. people in the states are stewpid for letting foreigners into the country, same in England, they open business, make a ton of money and leave the country. Happened where I live. There is very little regulation on assisted living facilities.

Thank goodness I got in contact with my local councilman's office and have proof my bldg is a rent stabilized so I don't have to leave. • @woopsserg

Non-profit means they pay no dividends and technically no one owns it. Thus control can be easily hijacked if people with nefarious intensions are let in onto the board, Project Veritas for example. Does not mean that money cannot be funneled out though. For example paying exorbitant salaries, making overpriced purchases or underpriced sales from/to management associated for profit business. Giving loans with no intention to be paid back. What non-profit does not mean is them doing stuff for free, rather it's about not paying taxes usual business do. They of course they may provide free stuff but it has nothing to do with non-profit status as such.

It's called "Continuity of Care" and it's a popular model in senior living facilities. Supposedly they guarantee that they'll care for you even as your needs increase. I won't move into senior apartments with this model---not all places require that up-front payment. And this case shows what can go wrong.

@@lisabrightly Family caring stopped decades ago because of our economics, both parents working. Most seniors that have reached the age of needing medical help if lucky sell their home to afford moving in $, then they struggle with the monthly cost. My parents (90’s) sold home gave it to senior center, but us 4 children (60’s &70’s) now pay the $9,000 monthly fee.

The first responsibility of government is to protect its citizens from crime, unsafe products, and unscrupulous business practices. Financial exploitation of elderly and disabled adults is a felony, and a conviction should always result in prison time. If the defendant caused the victim to lose more than $50,000, then these people should get the maximum penalty , which is 30 years in prison. plus financial reparations.

A hotel operator told me how bankruptcy works on a hotel. Nerish Patel was his name. First the owner makes a large cash deposit at local bank then a loan is secured at the same local bank under threat of withdrawal of the large cash deposit. Creditors and contractors are maxed out all cash is kept separate and paid to a parent organization or subsidiary and then after some time bankruptcy is declared leaving and creditors hold the loss and the owner flush with tax free cash from a loan and other non taxable incomes. It a legal racket and there is nothing you can do about it.
