To those on the fence about the game. I do think it is a fun game but bear in mind that game is really almost like a dice optimization game as opposed to a "true" dungeon crawl. It reminds me very much of gloomhaven where you had to be very efficient with your turn/your cards i.e... in gloomhaven you wheren't really crawling through every nook and cranny when dungeoneering. Again I do think fateforge is a good game (the dice use, the different characters, the narrative- even though there is no voice acting etc...) however if you are looking for more of crawl as opposed to use the dice efficiently as possible then this game might not be for you.
@@OneStopCoopShop what's your advice on solo with 2 vs 3 vs 4 characters for it? (i pressed the buy button). is it safe to do 3 for the base game and then the other 3 for the expansion?
We got this game a few weeks back and just about to go into act 3. We have really been enjoying the story and the game. Some levels are very hard to conplete
Thanks Mike. Came to check if I did some mistakes in my games. One of my favorite games too. Easy to manage, length perfect, nice puzzle to solve. Do you have a favorite hero to play with? I'm playing 3 characters. Is 4 still easy to manage solo? And do you think the expansion adds anything? Still on the fence ..
I think my first reply was lost, so I’m sorry if I repeat myself! The expansion character is great, but I haven’t played the expansion one-act campaign yet. My favorite character is the one my son is mainly playing, the noble. Their free movement with “the arrow” is insane, but it also puts them in dangerous situations 😂
This showed off a lot better with the structure of this scenario than it did with the last little playthrough you did. Felt like there were more and more interesting options, with promise for future leveling. I really like the dice placement, but I always hesitate on a game that is so dependent on an app. Is there any option for paper tracking? Either way, thanks for the fun playthrough.
On the fence with this one. Not sure if i need it with all my other games. Btw how have you been faring with Agemonia? Still you're favorite game of the year or have you cooled off on it?
We are still going strong with our campaign, but I have also cooled on it some. It’s still in my top 5 of the year, but some scenarios can get frustrating with enemies who stop you from doing the fun stuff (exploring)
Have you played any other games by Mighty Boards or Studio Agate? I was looking at the enclosed catalog and a few caught my eye. I need to research more on Hamlet, Vengeance Roll & Fight, and Posthuman Saga.
EDIT: After a few more missions under my belt, I realized that I wasn't ending the missions correctly. So, I can see some additional strategies to try to maximize loot while minimizing damage when ending the combat part. A tiny spoiler. I failed a boss fight. Rather than making me fight it again, it carried the story forward down a failed path. I found that to be really neat! And expect to see some new events unfolding due to that. So, there's the possible replayability, in try different hero combos to maybe succeed where this pair failed.
There are branching missions and choices, but some main missions you will play each time. But I think playing different characters and different level up builds gives it lots of replay. Also they have a battle mode with several short campaigns, so there is a lot of extra content
Thanks, question is now will a buy this to add to my pile of shame or get lost fleet expansion for gaia Projector wait for escape from new york Will you be doing a play through of lost fleet or escape from new york?
@brianknouse5164 very different games. This one is all about combat, agemonia is more focused on exploration. This one is also MUCH faster. I enjoy them both
thanks for the playthrough. It reminds me a bit of Descent: Legends of the Dark. I like it when an app is used to tell and branch story lines, but I don't like it when it's used to dynamically hide or adjust game mechanics. Like, he's doing too well, let's add more enemies. Or, he's taking too long, let's make it easier (or harder). I feel like I should just play a video game then.
This one is very minimalistic in that stuff. As far as I can tell (and I discussed this with one of the developers a bit), they mostly just give you some extra money in the rest sections if you got your butt kicked in the previous combat sections. Almost everything else is upfront and easy for the player to understand. PS - I also hate "hidden" stuff in apps. Journeys in Middle Earth did that a lot and pissed me off. "Try to climb the tree! How many successes do you need? Who the heck knows!!!"
@@OneStopCoopShop The Fateforge app reminds me the most of the Lands of Galzyr app, in that it's mainly a way to package all the storybook contents that would otherwise be a massive tome if it was printed out. Was less obtrusive than the Descent: Legends of the Dark app.
Definitely getting rave reviews from user reviews on BGG but other than some fun minimalistic combat I'm not seeing the appeal. Lots of reading for basic plot, combat scene, repeat pattern.
It's easily one of my favorite games of the year, but yes it is a pattern of "read, fight, repeat", so if you don't enjoy the combat and the story I'd stay away!
0:00 - Introduction
0:55 - Opening narrative and battle set-up
7:16 - Round 1 preparation phase
14:46 - Round 1 action phase and enemy phase
19:59 - Round 2
26:09 - Round 3
31:54 - More narration and exploration
Nice to see a playthrough featuring my typical dice-rolling luck 😆 Adds to the realism.
Hahaha, yeah, it was a bit rough 😅
This is a fantastic game!
Feels like a cross between Sword and Sorcery and the latest Descent.
But I like it a lot more than either of those 😅
Wow. I keep hearing "the Primeval Farts" every time I listen to this. Hearing is the first to go when you hit your 50's I guess.
That sounds way more epic and adventurous!! 😜
@@OneStopCoopShop Sure does! Must be swamp gas. 🤣

Yeah, the timer is VERY strict. You can’t just wander around slowly defeating enemies
why do i click on things i haven't heard of that i'll want to buy?
Mwahaha, that’s how they get you!!!

Yeah, running 3 isn’t too bad. 4 was a bit much for this video 😅
@@OneStopCoopShop the question. Is do i open the expansion immediately or is that for after the first camapign is complete 🤔
We got this game a few weeks back and just about to go into act 3. We have really been enjoying the story and the game.

We’ve failed quite a few, but I enjoy how the story continues in a logical way
Me ‘this is so fast and easy’. Me ‘didn’t score a single hit on first boss’
First boss kicked out a**. Second is a lot more straightforward, but still tough
@@OneStopCoopShop i def can picture replaying this with others. It’s pacing is super crisp

It does not. I believe they are cardboard tokens
