  • Tools used:
If there's one to get for working with 7/64" diameter Amsteel, it's the EZ-Splicer: www.amazon.com...
The 1/4"/6mm fid is also quite handy: www.amazon.com...
The 1/4" D-splicer is longer than I find need for, but can be handy if bury splicing longer lengths: www.amazon.com...
Kevlar Fiber Optic Cutter, 6" length: www.amazon.com...
A very sharp knife will also work.
    7/64" diameter Amsteel blue, 8-strand: www.amazon.com...

This is the best video on how to tie a button knot. Great job explaining and showing everything. Thank you.

This is definitely the best method of making soft shakles I have seen so far. The best of both worlds of the "old style" and "new style" soft shakles. Thanks a lot for that.

The notches on the fid are measurements for your berry. When you build a loop just measure to the marks for the tail length.

notches are for measurement. Longer part is called a "fid length," shorter part is a "short fid" and the whole thing is a "full fid." These are used in splicing double-braid. I really love the little splicing tools. Very inexpensive compared to fids.

    Larkshead over the stopper knot.

Nowhere near as strong as the locked Brummel splice.
