You're entitled to feel that way as a fan and your argument is well reasoned and based on results. However context matters, and in a QB driven league, what realistic opportunities has he had? The draft system does not reward winning. Make a similar video about Greg Popovich, whom we all know is a great coach, but had to lose to get Wembanyama. If you bring up Shanahan as a successful Comp, a man on the brink of bottling one of the most talented rosters I've ever seen, then forgive me for saying there's something wrong with this picture.

It’s honestly crazy because as a Steelers fan, I’m trying to think of one thing Tomlin does well in game, and I can’t think of a single thing. He rode Cowher’s team to 3 Super Bowls. He rode Roethlisberger’s prime to consistent mediocrity. & now he’s riding TJ Watt’s insane ability to impact a game defensively, keeping games close for a consistent bottom 5 offense to win close games. That’s all it is to his career. He’s a great man, a big hype guy, great with the media and has a hell of a personality. He understands Steelers culture but it has really fallen off because he can’t implement it in the whole team. It’s unbelievable he still has an NFL job. Steelers should of fired him and went after Jim Harbaugh. He would of been a great fit in Pittsburgh, outside of the fact that his brother coaches in the division

You can’t say Tomlin has had a significant hand in building every team on that field for the last decade and a half/he keeps us relevant but then doesn’t harbor any of the lack of playoff success or underachievement for the last decade. You can’t have it both ways. Tomlin has helped assemble these rosters. He selected these QBs. He kept Canada. He’s the one who neglected the Oline for years, thus neutering the running game. He’s the guy who allowed Bill Belichick to run circles around him in every meaningful game for years, costing us multiple trips to the SB. It amazes me how blindly loyal people are to this guy. As a Steelers fan, I want more than “non-losing seasons”. If we have to lose for a bit to get back on top - so be it. Every team does it. Sick and tired of treading water and accepting mediocrity.

bill belichick's patriots fell apart once brady left, but tomlin's steelers are still putting together decent seasons post-roethlisberger. that's not to say belichick isn't a great coach or that tomlin is better than him (he isn't), but being a super bowl contender just a few years after losing a hof qb seems like an unreasonable expectation for any coach. if the steelers are no better when the end of tomlins extension rolls around maybe there's a conversation to be had, but until then i think tomlin absolutely deserves his spot.

Couldn’t have said it better. I have respect for Tomlin, but the way the media has overblown his status as a coach is mind boggling. We haven’t won anything is so long, and I still don’t think we will get any closer this year. I was optimistic in the summer about this season, but since then that excitement has faded.
If Tomlin is going to have a losing season, this is the season. We are going to see what he is truly made of that second half of the schedule. I was born and raised in WPA and am a lifelong Steelers fan, and the only thing this video gets wrong is in putting the bad drafts completely on Tomlin. Although I’m sure he has had a lot of input he’s never been the GM. The person ultimately responsible for that was Kevin Colbert until last season.
But beyond that the piece is on the money. Tomlin hires mediocre to terrible assistants for the most part, and his player development history, frankly, is far below the line.
He consistently says he refuses to “live in his fears” yet he consistently does that week in and week out.
He may have been a good hire for a veteran team with its own established identity, but not for the current state of the franchise.

Something that almost never gets brought up that has always been one of the major points of criticism for every other coach is how their players behave on and off the field. Diontae Johnson doesnt try, AB only did what he wanted to, George Pickens doesnt care to block, on the field his players look like they couldnt care less and off the field their even worse. Everyone know about AB and his antics but are we gonna ignore Le'Veon Bell and his weed addiction Big Ben and his rape charges Anthony Chickillo assulting and choking his girlfriend only to be brought back less than a month later. All of these player were not only allowed to play for the steelers but make millions and millions of dollars. The steelers culture under Tomlin has allowed for criminals to do as the please simply because they can play ball. Matt Arizia was dropped after rape charges were brought against him Darren Waller was dropped by the ravens after he tested postive for weed, Cameron Sutton was released after domestic violence charges were brought against him. With a few frustrating exceptions (mostly qb related) every team releases players when they are charged with a crime. Not the Steelers though, that would jepordize Tomlin's winning record.

I can understand why steeler fans are frustrated because we haven't wanna play off games since 2016. And we haven't been to the Super Bowl since 2010 and haven't won since 2008. But right now, the biggest problem to his success is he doesn't have a quarterback. In honestly the way they like to play. And since they don't believe in pancake, they're gonna have to pick a year. Give up a lot of draft capital to move up to grab a quarterback from now. The draft, like, for example, in 2027 Arch Manning, will be in that draft class. And even when we haven't seen him play. I'm pretty sure he is going do something special. And i'm just gonna say it if I was Mr Rooney. Happy willing to trade an entire year's draft picks to be able to get him. There's a repeat, why aren't Rogers and Dan Marino or so special? They're the only rare cases where I quarterback fell far in the first round. And I can tell you right now. You'll never find another Tom Brady in the late rounds.

I can't believe that they're giving mediocre Mike money on Parr with Andy Reid. What an effing joke. Tomlin is so overrated. And after Cowhers players and personnel he's been average at best. And his playoff performance, particularly when the Jags came in and basically humiliated us, have been atrocious. But Rooney loves the guy so we're stuck with him. Get ready...9 and 8...maybe make the playoffs and get beaten in the first round. SOS. 😢

The drafting section of the video seemed misguided to me. The pro bowl rosters are a mixed bag of players that should’ve made it and shouldn’t have made it, and that’s the way it’s been for a while. Also, brushing aside the free agency moves that the Steelers have made is wrongheaded. How did the Steelers get Minkah? Furthermore, the Steelers have drafted well under Tomlin, getting players who have had long and fruitful careers like Antonio Brown, Cam Heyword, David DeCastro, and Maurkice Pouncey.
I also think the whole talk of coordinators from head coaches is just plain stupid. Belichicks coordinators have almost all been terrible when they’ve gotten head-coaching gigs. Your standard could also be applied to other coaches who just haven’t seen their coordinators go into success without them, like Sean Payton and Jimmy Johnson.
On a small side note too, the point trying to be made in pointing out that Tomlin has never had a losing season is not that every season is a winning one or a playoff berth, but rather that the simple bedrock of Mike Tomlin is, at the very least, not a season of losing.
My purpose in arguing these points is that I would hope you to reconsider Tomlin as a coach who is very good like Payton or hell even Mike McCarthy. It’s still insane to me that you put Mike McCarthy, and not Mike Tomlin, in very good, but what do I know.

Man..... As a die hard Steelers fan, this was hard to hear. I have heard the grumblings of other Steelers fans hating on Tomlin and I must say at first I didn't give it much credit. I just kept justifying mediocre seasons and playoff loses as one off years or the results of a couple aspects of the team not doing well. But I am firmly off the Tomlin bandwagon now. Even when they won 11 straight games to start the season a few years ago, they didn't look good. I really hope this year is different, I hope they get a decent offense put together (we know most likely the defense will be decent). I really hope they play consistently good football. Thats been the most frustrating thing to watch is just how inconsistent they play from week to week. Some weeks they look absolutely terrible, some weeks they look "OKAY", and every once in a while they look good

The only one who wasn't was the Lions who are still not bad on defense. The Chiefs won a Superbowl the "old fashion" way and no one talks about it. They ran the ball and played great defense. Yes Mahommes is Mahommes and turned it on come playoff time but still it was the defense and running game that got them the ring.

And when you mentioned the Kansas City playoff game in 2016 go back and watch it again he checked out of numerous running plays from the goal line with Le’Veon Bell as the running back just so he can throw the ball and get picked off.
One more thing about Clock management no one is better than bleeding the clock out once they have a lead. Take a look at Tomlin record in one score games. The Cowboys, Eagles, 49ers, Ravens, Packers, Bills and Seahawks all made the playoffs more times in the last 10 seasons and go further into the playoffs, but their coaches get absolutely decimated by the media. The Chiefs have made the playoffs 9 out of 10 years too and before Mahomes, were basically seen just like the Cowboys are perceived to be, good regular season teams with terrible playoff records. Horrible take. Made a 15 minute video about lack of post season success and didn't even mention the actual reason for it. INJURIES. Every single playoff game we've lost in the last 7 years has the same story, there were just too many injuries to overcome. Also, the lack of a coaching tree points to his quality as a coach, not the other way around. Any real Steelers fan knows that the team doesn't like spending money on the coaching staff. Tomlin is forced by ownership to employ bargain coordinators. That's common knowledge in Pittsburgh and has been that way forever. This is a video made by a fan that has no idea about anything except what the TV tells him to think. Maybe do a little research before you try and drag Tomlin thru the mud. Also, just for extra. I'm tired of the narrative that you can't win in the NFL with defensive football anymore. This is a young person's take. Football goes thru cycles just like any sport. We are into a generation of players who grew up defending passing oriented offenses since they were 7 years old. It's not as unstoppable as it was 10 years ago. You can simply look up the stats and see that teams are running the ball more each year consistently .. this is because defensive coaches have figured out how to shut down elite QBs. Again, just do some research before you form opinions instead of regurgitating what you hear from the media.
