What a fantastic video!! I've actually had to decant juice from minis in the past and find that a small syringe works well extended with the extra tube that you get from a bottle of WD40. Just cut a clean one down to size (a diagonal cut) so that you don't tip the mini bottle over with a long tube. Incidentally, the same tube also fits many small atomizers like the ones from Sephora, just in case you need a longer tube for some reason. Cheers Tara!

Great video Tara! One suggestion though. Place the tape on the threads before you fill the bottle to reduce the chance of spilling any fragrance. Nice nail polish, very festive!

I disagree.
Wipe the threads after filling to insure the Teflon tape isn’t wet.
ALSO! When wrapping the tape around the threads wrap in the opposite direction which your demonstrate. Clock-wise, so when you screw the atomizer it doesn’t unwrap.

Very informative. I never knew there was any difference in Teflon Tape
Enjoyed the lesson, a very thorough process. I make small decants of my fragrances to keep in the car for reapplying during lunch break. Can’t leave an entire bottle roasting away in the sun. Experienced a good amount of evaporation until I used plumbers tape on the threads. Helped considerably. Great ideas. ❤️❤️

Wow you are much more steady of hand than I am! That Teflon tape is my mortal enemy lol! I use a fork to adjust the aperture size 🤣

Omg this is sooo helpful... i am still waiting for my sample bottles to arrive ! 😩 the teflon tape i have never heard of and is actually a Perfect idea to ensure that the bottle won’t leak... 💯 now i have a xmas gift wishlist... a labeler !!!! Inhave always wanted to get one of those for “organizing”, but now i really NEED it... 🤣

Excellent video!! Definitely going to try that Teflon tape. You mentioned that there still will be some evaporation even with the tape. I want my collection of decants to last for years so do you think doing Teflon tape on the threads like you did AND parafilm on the outside of the bottle (where the glass bottle meets the cap) will prevent evaporation? That’s what I do, hoping it’s worth the effort.
Thank you so much, Bobby! Yes, I think with the addition of parafilm you should be in good shape. Keep the lids on as well if they have lids. I also know some people who store them in ziploc bags to remove as much air exposure as possible, but I don't do that as I think I would forget about them. Lol.

Needed this! Do you toss the syringe or pipette after each use or when switching perfumes?
Great and very helpful video I need to decant one perfume the top broke off and no other fits well enough to spray it out so I need to buy a needless syringe to get it into another bottle since it’s only about quarter bottle left in there I bought a travel size refillable perfume bottle now trying to figure out where to buy a syringe without buying a bulk amount since I only need to do this once. Tfs
While using the syringe to pull out the fragrance, what happens if you pull out too much? Are you able to put the extra liquid back into the original bottle through the stem? Or do you put the remainder in the next sample bottle that will be made? Thank you so much!

This is a nice video. The only suggestion I would have is to put the teflon tape on first, then fill up the decant. I personally don't like fumbling around with a full decant. Otherwise, great video and thanks for the advice of heating up the scissors!!!

Yikes, I was putting the teflon tape OVER where the cap of the atomizer & the decant meet. Cringe. Thanks for this informative video!
Ha! Well, I have done that occasionally in addition to putting it on the threads if I'm going to be traveling on a flight with them (just to be extra safe with the air pressure).
You could use parafilm to wrap around the outside. They use that stuff in labs to make airtight ceils

Thanks! Glad it was helpful. No, I don't think it will last quite as long (I imagine the original bottles are probably more air tight than the decant bottles no matter how well you seal them). I think they should last quite a long time if you do seal them well, though.

do you know if taping after putting the cap on (around the gap) helps too? i bought some decants who didn't have any tape so i just taped over that gap between bottle and cap...
This was really informative! So this is a crazy question. If you had a bottle that wouldn't spray and has a seal on it how would you go about decanting it?
Glad it was helpful! I think if you can compress the plastic tube you should still be able to do it this same way. Never encountered that, though, so I'm not sure.

I haven't had any issues thus far and some I've removed many times, but I'm also very careful when I put them back on.
Hello Tara, great video. I would like to ask as a precaution, is it possible to fill the spray bottle back the same way you extracted the juice out with your syringe? If it is possible and you buy a bottle of perfume that you never tried and do not know how it is suppose to smell on eBay, anybody can fill it with any kind of perfume, wouldn't you agree? Thank you for the great tips.
Only if it's a refillable bottle like the Kilians. If it isn't you can't put it back in, but I would be very hesitant to buy bottles that are refillable second hand because of this. I only buy Kilian brand new from reputable sellers for that very reason. Great question!
I saw one video where they said to spray into the funnel and another video they pull the cap and whole atomizer off the bottle and pour it on the funnel but I don't know if any of those would work without ruining the fragrance.

You should use the teflon in the opposite direction of the threads.
Is there any negative effect to the perfume in the full bottle when you opened the atomizer and absorded the liquid with syringe? Like the performance became worse or anything? I'm kinda afraid because surely it's exposed to oxygen
I have always wondered how can we spray the perfume into a separate bottle and that not effect the perfumes that change scent. You know how some have initial top notes at first spray that go away. How does spraying into a bottle not effect that or does it?
Where do you get the 3ml viles?
Do you have any tips if the spray top of the bottle you want to decant from doesn't want to come off? I have some Calvin Kline Eternity Moment perfume and the spray top just doesn't seem to want to budge. I want to try to get it off but not break it.

Let's say you want to put the perfume from the syringe back into the original bottle, how would you do that?
I just bought a bottle of Narisco Rodriguez for him on ebay, the guy said it was 80% full but when I received it, I have no clue how much is in there because its opaque/ foil lined. Flashlight against the bottle doesn't work, can't hear sloshing around to get any idea. I even tried freezing it for a bit and then look for a condensation line but that also did not work. So I thought why not extract it/ measure the contents via the syringe, and then put it back into there once I confirm how much has been taken out. Do you know of a way to do that?

I think those would be good if you're just making a travel spray for yourself. I don't have one, though, so I can't say how well they work.
Hey Tara! What's the connector you mentioned for the Replica bottles?
I looked into it and it won't work because it has to attach flush to the sprayer and those bottles have the little sprayer part sticking out. Boo.
