We had a ‘73 exactly like this one in 1978 when we were first married. (In AZ). I currently have a ‘67 that I restored - drove it around town running some errands today. Over the years I’ve had 5 bugs and enjoyed each one.
LOL the way it was barely running when it came into the garage reminds me of the scene in the movie Christine where the car comes back and it is barely running barely creeping its way into the garage
6:55 Hey @Dubwerks, I'm new to the beetle scene and was wording what that yellow tool is named so I can purchase one online for when I'm going to change mine.
I rarely see VWs on the road these days. Back in the 80s, in Missoula, MT, there was a company that sold reconditioned/restored Volkswagen Beetles. They were badged Golden Beetle and each car came with a warranty.
My first car was a yellow1973 VW Sports Bug just like this one. I bought it when I was a senior in high school. Even though it had many mechanical issues, I really enjoyed driving it!
@@tapper701 Dubwerks bought a nice lunch for me and the Wicked Werks gang today....wish you could off seen his face when Ben started the order with a fat steak HAHA
Sport Bug & Sun Bug with sunroof are my two favorite Limited Edition Volkswagen Super Beetle models. A close third is the La Grande Super Beetle limited edition. Congrats DubWerks on this fine acquisition Limited Edition Sport Bug ! The banter between you and Jason is refreshing ! To see the support Jason gives you is quite stellar ! Just need to involve Josh into this mix and get his humor as part of the conversation ! My own search is for a 1974 Volkswagen Super Beetle with sunroof. Am one who actually likes the bigger bumpers and the new front bucket seat style of the 1974 model - pre fuel injection. Am planning on going to Pasco county FL/Dade City fairgrounds for a classic Volkswagen air-cooled event November 13th ! There is just something about the sound of an air-cooled Volkswagen motor that is intoxicatiing - no mistaking that sound ! Slainte' ! Cheers !
My father owned a bunch of VWs, including 3 Westfalias. I know that sound. I used to curl up in the back of the camper van and those engines were like music to me. The last van had a 2000cc engine and "extractor" exhaust with a long pipe out of the back. It burbled every time you took the gas off. It would do 45-50 on tough hills with the whole famdamily in it.
@@tiki_trash If I could turn back time - no not Cher - rather back in the day when air-cooled Volkswagens were everywhere on the roads ... Slainte'! Cheers !
Nice car man,I was taught how to drive a straight shift in a bug just like that,I even stalled it a few times like you did lol, nice car tho,I'm sure you and Jason will have it up and looking good in no time, just subbed man, keep up the awesome videos
I bought a 74 super brand new back in the day. Paid, I think, $3400. Great car, but it was kind of a bobber with the front struts. Steering damper went out too.
I've owned a lot of Volkswagens in my time a lot maybe not as many as you what cylinders not firing or is bad I drove a Volkswagen van once on three cylinders down to Florida from Ohio and back that bug is not running correctly
Well, again…it’s just me. IMO. I would pull that out, and start from scratch. Who knows what lies inside? Chrome J tubes, wacky exhaust, no rear breastplate, open fan shroud holes….probably no thermostat. Is a dead giveaway to someone who didn’t have a clue how these engines operated. And running that engine like that, for any length of time. Is of course a death sentence. But who am I … Just my opinion. Cool car though. And a rare accessory still working. The door buzzer. Does it still have the light under the ashtray, illuminating the heater knobs?

Warms the heart when a youngling like Dubwerks, who didn’t grow up with thousands of these on the road, is totally in to ‘it’ 👍
They're fun cars!
Dubwerks, and the rest of us, need to get a money tree, like Jason has.😀
Wake up, drink raw eggs like Rocky, put on your Rambo outfit and ride Jaws to work 7 days week for many, many years ...you’ll get there .
LOL
I know what a super Beatle is, but I have never heard of a sports bug. Anyway cool car. Nice to get it back on the road.

Shared love of sport bugs! Good catch 😊

Ive always wanted to fix my own bug... this is awesome. Be well always guys. Happy Holidays😊

Start the negotiations for the Recaro seats! 🙃
One million dollars
Esta genial!! tiene el mejor tablero que produjo Vw para el escarabajo, entre otros detalles

Cool! This one also has many mechanical issues LOL
since I found this one do I get the $100 finders fee ?
With out question, minimum $100 finders fee - should at least also toss in a Happy Meal from McD's ...

Nearly needed an ambulance there... almost had to call the Squad 51 guys from Emergency!
Always loved the spots bug! Nice find!
They're awesome!
Congratulations on your sports bug ! Great car
Interesting, I wonder how many companies did that.

I love later model cars. Craig's '75 is one of my favorites at the shows!
Its better, but still sounds like it needs the heads torqued down. nice bug..
It needs something!
Christine…coming back to Darnell’s after a night of killin’ 😂
LOL
Nice!! But also Oooofff... that exhaust system screams the engine has overheated dozens of times. Looks like we'll be doing another tear down
Yeah, it'll need it!
Nice job, Dub! Don’t forget to put the parking brake on though 😂
Yeah... risky business that park brake.
Does the engine lid close? Or is that part of the cooling system?
Nice Super Beetle

Cool! We'll see how this one rides one day.
Love it! ❤
It's awesome!
I had a '73 SB in early '90. Put $452 in the motor. The motor is still going. The car got cut up and dismantled for another SB.
I wish it was still that affordable!
Dub. What’s extras make it a sport bug ?
She perked right up. Sounded clanky at first.
Sounds clanky at second too LOL
Sounds like a one banger. Cool though.
Yeah something's up with it. Very cool!
IT'S A PUSHER.
LOL

Not sure what one is messed up but something is!
Oh just a heads up, wear gloves when messing with old oil etc, that shit is bad for you 😑
I know, but I just hate gloves.
Please get the missing tin in the back.
It'll be put on for sure!

Oh it needs to come out for sure. It does have a thermostat though, it's failed open. Not sure on the light, love the buzzer!
@@DubWerks I’m sure it will be great…jealous as hell!
try to find one in ri way too much money bummer
Sounds terrible. Timings out.
Yes it does, but timing is set. Something else is messed up!
I own a 66
Nice!
