Im almost 63 and my first car that i bought was in '79. It was a 1968 vw beetle convertible baja rig. Somebody had put a '72 1600cc engine in it when i bought it off of a pretty gal.

There used to be a massive VW junk yard in north west Arkansas. It had at one time 500+ VW's. All arranged by what they were .All the Bugs together and the Buses together and so on. It was called Way Out Salvage. I'm not sure if they are still in business or not .I traded off my old Bug years ago.

I’m 50 years old. I’ve been a Chevy guy all my life, but I somehow have had a passion for Volkswagens since I was a kid! Type I, II, Squareback,Fastback, Karmann Ghia, 411, 412… Even Rabbits and Caddys!
Damnnnnnnnnnn. This brings me back. 🤘🤘

Sweet! What a goldmine for VW peeps who need parts! My very first car was a VW bug that needed fenders and other mechanical parts. At 16 years old, I sold my 4-H steer at auction and bought a 1974 bug for $400 (a long long time ago). My dad and I fixed it up together. My dad has passed; but I will always have these wonderful memories with him working on my lil' bug together.

I had a VW Squareback that I used like a truck for hauling crap back and forth to college and later a Sirocco. Both great VWs. Another great auto expedition Parker.

Very cool that Parker stopped to visit my neck of the woods. This place isn’t far from me. Many years ago I went there with a friend. He bought parts for his 64’ bug from the original owner.

His facts are slightly off on some things but wow what a collection, it’s a pity that most of them are hanging, but not a bad buy if someone needs a motor and box and some trim to finish a project. That red delux early bay with the steering wheels looked a decent one to choose.

I'm a bit older than Larry, the first car I ever rode in was brand new '64 bug that I came home from the maternity ward in. It was eventually replaced by a '74 Super Beatle convertible (Ravena Green) that I took my driver's test in. My first car was a '74 Dasher that looked just like the yellow one (mine was red, they were based on the Audi Fox). Next was a '80 Scirocco S, that grey one looked like it had the S stripes. After that I had a '84.5 Wolfsberg Edition Scirocco that I owned until '99. Since then there have been a few more modern VWs but those weren't special like the older cars.

It is mind-blowing! Some sixty- seventy years ago, German plants ran 24/7 producing these VW'S to satisfy world demand, and now all these machines are lying on durt, which really offended Adolf Hitler. Think about all that much human labor and material, time spent to produce them. I am amazed by the junkyard owner's passion for collecting all these VW'S. I think he collected them throughout the United States. Thank you! Very Interesting video.

It costs more the 10000 dollars to restore such cars or bussen. Here in Europe we are not allowed to do such restaurations anymore, or at least in Belgium, due to the low emmisions standards. I did it the past. Believe me, you will find a lot of rot beneath the paint and especially on the bottom. If you want to do it properly, all must be renewed. And drain your wallet

They should not dump these valuable cars in such a place in such a manner. After all they also served a generation of people..They should all be restored and put in an Automobile museum and also give it to automobile collectors,Industrial training Institutes, scale model collectors who can use them as showpiece for study and so on.An automobile heritage conservation trust has to be started. If the automobile has completely decayed and has reached the fag end of it's lifespan and cannot be restored(somewhat similar to a person who has reached the fifth and final terminal stage of Cancer.),then it has to be broken down and given up for recycling.
