Mam in the neutralization step Removal of free fatty acid to increase the smoke point of oil you said to decrease the smoke point of oil. The more FFAs an oil has, the faster it will break down and start smoking. Refined oils usually have less than 0.05% FFAs, which results in a higher smoke point.
