      Don Sweeney sold on the Ullmark trade. I would rather give Ulllmark 5 than Korpisallo 3. The whole point of the trade was for the Bruins to not pay 2 goalies a lot of money and they still do that.🤦

      Buium got really inflated by amateur Internet scouts. He's reasonably a 2nd pair offensive and pp specialist but he lacks in his own zone and his breakouts are meh. He's also a meh skater and defensemen in the modern NHL need to be highly mobile.

    Buffalo fan here- i’m very happy with what we did this offseason. We desperately needed a competent bottom six if we’re trying to compete and that’s what we got. Buying skinner out sucks (I personally love that guy) but the cap hit was too much and needed to happen in the next few seasons. I loved savoie, but we have too many prospects almost exactly like him and in return we got a decently high upside experienced (but still young) 3C. I completely understand why everyone is saying Buffalo got fleeced, but it’s a completely different perspective among fans.

    • @andrewedan7
      @andrewedan7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I would argue that Buffalo is VERY underrated going into this season. I’m a Sabres fan, so Im obviously a little biased, but I like how this group is shaping up.

    • @thepowerwithin9865
      @thepowerwithin9865 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I’m a Buffalo fan too, and I just can’t see that same vision. The moves in my opinion made absolutely no sense. They overpaid for lackluster free agents that are at best average in the bottom 6, and they did that after buying out Skinner which they easily could’ve kept with all their cap hit. They didn’t get any one who moves the needle in free agency, and they traded away their best prospect for someone who will most likely be off the team in 2 years. Then they get rid of a 2nd round pick which could’ve been Cole Hutson for a guy who is a career AHLer and barely eclipses 20 points. These players aren’t bad pickups, but how much they gave up for them is UNHEARD of. And they STILL have all this cap space. I just don’t see how they got better. They depleted from their top 6, maybe slightly improved their bottom six, and haven’t even signed Luukkonen yet. The team is such a joke.

    • @andrewedan7
      @andrewedan7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thepowerwithin9865 I understand your sentiment, however, Buffalo is in win now mode, so sacrifices needed to be made. I would argue that our free agent acquisitions add a lot of grit and tenacity to the bottom six despite not being prolific scorers, which will make us a lot harder to play against as we wear teams down. In regards to Savoie, I think the Sabres might have been able to trade a less prestigious prospect for McLeod (maybe Rosen) but we have a lot of similar talent in the system, so I’m not convinced he’s a total loss, especially with Helenius joining.

    • @thepowerwithin9865
      @thepowerwithin9865 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@andrewedan7 I can actually agree with that completely. Again, I’m not upset per say with whom they’ve acquired, but rather what they gave up in order to acquire them. Based on previous trades, it just seemed they had more value there. Just because you’re in a “win-now” mode doesn’t necessarily mean you should throw your asset management out of the window. I’m not upset they got rid of one of their assets considering they have many more who are similar in the system, but I feel they didn’t get enough value back, especially if they move on from McLeod in the future, who I value to be maybe worth a 3rd round pick.

    • @andrewedan7
      @andrewedan7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@thepowerwithin9865 Yeah, that’s fair. I’m hoping they aren’t finished making moves, would love to see a top six winger, but we’ll see. I’m optimistic for this season but I’m also ready to get hurt again lol.

    For the Sens didn't like their draft other than their 4th round. Signings really liked they finally got some actual good depth which Dorion never did. Trades were good I get why non Sens fans don't like the Chychrun trade but it was never going to work here and Jensen is a perfect partner for either Chabot or Sanderson and rounds out our top 4 nicely which has also been an issue. It's tough for Staios though cause he has had to patch up so many Dorion blunders. Overall as a Sens fan I'm fine with how their offseason has gone but other than the Ullmark move nothing special

    Buffalo fan here as well and someone who actually has followed Savoie and thinks the team did a decent job in the offseason.
    Starting off with Savoie, Savoie was no longer the top prospect in the Sabres system by the time of the trade. His primary experience in playing was against teenagers and he needs at least 1 more year when compared to their current top prospect, Konsta Helenius(who for some scouts were saying he's a potential top 5 pick and has had scouting reports similar to Sam Reinhartd), who you can reliably throw in if they need a player due to one being injured. Or you could throw in Jiri Kulich or Noah Ostlund who had much much much more experience playing against adults if they need to toss someone into the lineup. This is also not even getting into his injury history that he seems to have before even going into the AHL. But also, his top skill was always, from day 1, his skating. Now with the addition of Ryan, someone who's considered to be in the 100th percentile for skating in the NHL, was stuck on a team with 2 of the best centers in the league with no upwards mobility, the trade for Savoie was really good.
    Next for the overpayment of some of these players. Yeah, that doesn't surprise me either. You have to overpay players cause no one wants to come to Buffalo. It's a horrid tax bracket mixed with the Eichel drama and a 13 year playoff drought. You have to overpay players to keep them or get them to come here, even if players who do come here tend to love the city afterwards.
    Finally Jeff Skinner's buyout. You had to buyout Skinner for a number of reasons. One major one, something that Edmonton is going to be learning quickly is, he's not a two way defenseman. There were a number of goals/breakaways cause Skinner is not known for his scoring, he's known for his scoring. The Toronto Overtime against the Sabres is just one of many examples of this. And when he's not scoring, he's bringing down his line. We love Skinner, but he had to go.

    Boston upgraded what they needed to upgrade.
    The only reason Boston wasn't getting more for Ullmark is because he refused to sign an extension. Definitely should've gotten more. I'd say the grading is slightly lower than it should be. Overall, the team is better minus the goaltending

    I simply don't understand everyone falling over themselves about Nashville's offseason. Are they better? Yes they are. But if they don't win a cup within a few years that team is going to be very old and very bad very fast.

  • @mattcohen16
    @mattcohen16 หลายเดือนก่อน

    Regarding the Sabres - I heavily disagree. As a fan, I have more exposure to the team and will understand their moves more than anyone who does not follow the team. They have not made the playoffs for an NHL record 13 straight seasons. They got close two seasons ago, but have been lackluster every other season, including last season, where they were constantly worked over and had absolutely no physicality. They brought in Malenstyn for a second (which they acquired for moving back 3 spots in the first round), and signed Aube-Kubel and Lafferty. That is a highly physical and FAST 4th line who all had more hits than any forward on the Sabres last season. Then they bring in Zucker, who maybe at $5 million was a bit of an overpay, but the Sabres have to overpay for guys they want right now because of their drought. He is fast, physical, and can play up and down the lineup. McLeod is a dream third line center. He is one of the fastest guys in the league and only 24 years old. Yeah they gave up Savoie, but Savoie isn't highly valued by other GMs, plus he is injured every summer, and there is no room for him on the roster within the next 3-4 years. I think they valued Kulich and Ostlund, and now Helenius, way more than Savoie. The Sabres need to win now. They will make the playoffs this year with the improved physicality and speed. Also, McLeod (2nd), Aube-Kubel (10th), Lafferty (12th), and Malenstyn (46th) were all top 50 in the most 20mph skating bursts throughout the season. The highest Sabre on the list was JJ Peterka at 102. I usually enjoy your videos but maybe do a little bit more research on teams and what they were looking to add before judging.

    The Ducks not signing any heavy hitters this year is not a big deal. They really need to start seeing what steps their young guns are going to take. This is the year we will see where many of them are headed. Carlsson, Gauthier, Zellweger and Luneau should start showing their potential. McTavish and Mintyukov should take bigger steps as well. If Zegras and Terry have better/bounce back seasons that will also bold well for their future. The Ducks won't make the playoffs next season but should take a big step in the right direction. If they do make strides, next off season should be more productive. Also, Sennecke will take some time to fill out and refine, but he will be a legit top line forward in four years time. This is a pick that will make Verbeek look like a hockey genius!

Arviddson has trouble staying healthy but when he is his numbers are sneaky good and he has a lot of playofff experience and I think this really soldifies their forward core and gives them one of the best in the league but still imo they need to adress the backup position because ideally Pickard is a solid number 3 and they need to get somebody who can play around 30 games but I would say that’s still pretty good.
