Tipper could boil an egg, wash a spoon, talk to UFOs for an hour. I'd still watch these videos. This family is a respite from political vitriol, daily stresses. A beacon of peace and deliciousness in a complicated world
My father would open the refrigerator door, and take all the left overs out and even rinse out a ketchup bottle, and put it all in a pot, and cook it on our wood stove .
I've done that before where I had some left over meatloaf, green beans, baked potatoes and I put them all in one pot and cooked it together. I mashed the baked potaoes with a little cream n butter, put the green beans and meatloaf in with a little cheese on top, it was really good.
I make a soup like this whenever I can! Only I make it a little bit more watery. I would’ve added three more cups of coconut milk and even some more chicken stock! And don’t ever be afraid to include any chard part of the vegetables! Just like the onions it’s flavor!I love this! I think it’s the first time I’ve ever commented and I’ve subscribed for a long time! Love and prayers
Yum! I’ll need to try this. Love you all sm, My Chosen Appalachian Family ❤ Oh, Mrs. Tipper! I just finished watching the 4 videos of you reading the Heartwarming Christmas Story from the Appalachian Mountains. I laughed and cried. It was my first time listening and I loved it! What a treat 😊
Hi Tipper, Corie and Katie, I really enjoyed watching you make a soup using the veggies from the garden and trying something new at the same time. I also liked the cooperation of deciding what to put in it as far as spices and the coconut milk. Y'all are so talented and when you plated your soup with the greens and the bread it looked Absolutely Delicious and restaurant quality and I would gladly pay to taste it. Great Job Y'all!!😊❤🎉
I do make that soup frequently and I sometimes add cumin and coconut milk for a middle eastern flavor. Sometimes I add sage and leave out tomatoes for a very warm fall flavor. Lovely to see you all enjoying a great new recipe! 💜💐💜
I ordered your cookbook, I'm lived in southeastern Ky, I miss the woods, moutains, and Southern folks, the home cooking. My birthday is next Wendsday. I will be 62. My husband passed a little over 3 years ago, we were never blessed with biological children but raised foster sons here in IN. Every year on my birthday, he would give me Southern cook books, native american Cook books, and game cook books because he was a hunter. I miss him so much, so for my birthday, I ordered a couple of days ago, y'alls cookbook, I'm praying it gets here by my birthday on the 20th or at least before Thanksgiving. I enjoy your videos. You are a blessing.
Law me that looks so delicious and healthy. I love how yall tag team with each other. Pretty soon those boy's will be banging their spoons on the highchair trays for some of that good stuff. I love you all. God bless yall!
💛Tipper, that looked so delicious loved everything in it so glad you three get to spend such quality time together it's wonderful that you have such sweet daughters that enjoy spending time with their momma. what wonderful memories these will be, I hope Katie was able to eat and enjoy that without worrying about her precious little boy having a reaction.love and appreciate you three so much. Sending prayers and love to all of you.🫂
I’m going to make this tomorrow. I think the squash and root vegetables are a great choice for this soup. That meal looks wonderful, with the greens and that beautiful bread. Yum 😋 Thank you all so much! ❤
The babies can smell food cooking 😆... and wanting some.. they enjoy trying new soft foods and sleep better.. milk gets where it's not enough n they show it 😊...
I was so inspired by your throw everything in soup I paused the video! I gathered all my bits and pieces of veggies, onion and garlic, herbs, taties, one lone sweet potato and chopped it all up…roasting now and smelling divine! Thanks for the inspiration! 🍅🥕🧄🧅🍠🥖
I just made this soup (mine was thinner with pasta added) and a Dutch oven bread for our supper! What a coincidence. It's a cold rainy night in Raleigh.
Tipper mymaternal side of the family is from the south of France my mom my Mere Mere and my aunts all made their soup like that, the vegetables were peeled and boiled and seasoned like you did with herbs and then pureed its called potage As usual Tipper I have squash Envy, getting some next week i roast my squash my carrots beets together like that with olive oil and herbs it caramelizes them I am glad you made this dish took me down memory lane, I don't know the last time I made that, it was nice seeing you and Corey back together in the kitchen I always enjoy seeing you together when I I pull up your cheese or pepper jelly video it all looked delicious thanks for sharing
Rosemary and nutmeg I use when roasted vegetables...on a rainy, foggy evening or at night..soup is so good for cozy comfort food... everything looked fresh and delicious 😊.. and very creative... thank u for sharing...
Tipper, Get Matt to find you one of those blue plastic barrels. Next season, after drilling drainage holes in the bottom, only fill the bottom up to 1 foot of hardwood for filler to cut down on need for soil. But fill the rest with soil and mulch. Plant your Parsnips in that barrel. They need depth. That should make ya' happier! 👍 ~ Teresa
Such a good idea to bake a smorgasbord of vegetables and make a soup. Adding the greens was a good addition to the soup. The bread has to be there too. Thanks Tipper for another good idea.
Miss Tipper isn’t it wonderful that we can still find new recipes and try new things and fall in love all over again with the goodness God has given us from our gardens! I was like you thinking of what other vegetables I could use to make another soup with . I am always looking for orange vegetables to eat. I have trouble seeing at night and I hope eating more orange vegetables will help with that. And pumpkin is low glycemic food, it doesn’t raise blood sugar as much
I haven't tried this soup, but now I think I will. The bread--that's how I make mine, just flour, salt, yeast, some olive oil, a dash of cider vinegar, and water, in the Dutch oven. Yours looks great!
Don't let us know it alls out here in youtube land get you down. It is obvious you know your stuff. We all have our own ways we think is best. You have a beautiful family at home with you.... you are doing things right ❤.... thank you for sharing.
Tipper and Corie, your soup looks so delicious! 😋 I bet it tasted wonderful having all those vegetables and spices in it. I love any kind of homemade bread, too. Maybe a new recipe for another cookbook. It's sure sweet hearing Woodrow and Ira in the background. 💕 Enjoy your awesome supper together. 🤗 Sending blessings to you and all your family. 💗🙏
My late sister used to make a version of your soup and she called it Mustgo as in everything in this refrigerator must go! She garnished with everything from kale, celery leaves to raisins and we loved it each time.
Soup looked like he filling for a sweet potato pie. Looks like everyone enjoyed it. Hard to believe that its the middle of Nov and you are still eating fresh vegetables out of your garden. Enjoy it while you can, Old Man Winter will be coming for a visit too soon.
I've made a similar soup and used red potatoes roasted. It's a great way to get lots of veggies, too. Your bead looked delicious too! God bless you all.
I'm going to try this recipe too with similar vegetables, love roasted veggies. The charred bits add extra flavor. I made a white bean with kale soup last week with thyme, salt and pepper, roasted garlic, delicious. Longest part was soaking the beans. Just used the immersion blender. As always thanks for sharing. Love to all.
It's a dull cool day here in Canada and last night I put beans to soak overnight. So it's soup for us today. Love the idea of roasting all the veggies first.
Congratulations on your yard sauce. I started making this when I had too many tomatoes. I used squash, tomatoes, onions garlic. Zucchini which was coming out my ears. I used my vitamix and blended it up kind of chunky bcuz we like it that way. I use to make tomatoe soup just add a bit of half and half and with a grilled cheese sandwich you got it made. We like to make chicken parm 27:47 using yard sauce and sometime I just warm it up and eat it over a baked potato. Your bread looks divine Tipper.
Tipper,Corie ,Katie The soup looks so delicious. And the coconut milk seemed to give it a silky texture It’s so sweet to hear all three of you giving ideas and experience 🙏Thank you for the video
Ooh, yum. We sometimes order a farm box with whatever is ripe at the moment. I’ve made soups like that occasionally when the box includes a suitable variety. Sometimes it’s butternut and sweet potatoes, sometimes cauliflower, cabbage, leeks and fennel, or whatever combination we get. Always a little stock, some butter and a little cream. Always delicious.
I made pumpkin soup much like that a couple weeks ago. I use a small Cherokee tan pumpkin and one Cherokee tan that was immature “green” it tasted like zucchini. I used roasted pumpkin seeds that I bought. Onion, garlic, poblanos, Anaheim peppers. I used chicken stock. Spices were onion, garlic powder, paprika, smoked paprika, celery salt marjoram and oregano Mashed with tater masher ,used chicken stock to thin to soup. It was very good, but I liked the mash best! I am making the mash for Thanksgiving!
I love parsnips! They are my favorite vegetable. I fix them like my Granny did. Fry up some fat back and put the parsnips in to cook, pretty much the same as mustard greens. Salt and pepper and put the lid on and cook until tender. A pan of them and a pone of cornbread and I am a happy camper!
Soup looks delicious! Well done gals👏👏Next time cut about 1/4 off the top of the garlic bulb before roasting. You’ll be able to squeeze the garlic easier once roasted. You can even make a garlic confit in a tiny cast iron or Dutch oven pot or just wrap a few bulbs in tinfoil and add olive oil and whatever your heart desires. Wrap and roast. I’d add some butter or coconut milk to make the soup silkier and some drizzle of olive oil on top while served. Maybe some toasted sour dough croutons on top.
Making soup with whatever you have on hand usually makes great soup but hard to replicate. I love soups but my men aren’t usually crazy about it. They don’t know what they are missing.
This is a healthy recipe which I knew would be a big plus with Corie & Katie. The homemade bread looked complimentary & delish. TY for sharing a healthy new recipe. Love Y'All & God Bless.
Hello sweet ladies! I enjoyed watching you make the soup. I bet it is delicious. It is a beautiful soup! I love roasted vegetables but never thought to blend them all together.
I love you cooking together. My Mom and I work really well together in the kitchen, but my husband and I... not so much. Corie you should have sang a duet with Katie joining from the living room to entertain us! 😋
I would add some heavy cream. I have several recipes similar to this one. Always puree with chicken stock over medium low heat and add heavy cream before serving… stirring till thoroughly mixed. Garnishing with sautéed greens will be the “icing on the cake!” Yum!😋
You always wanna leave the skin because as you said it has the most vitamins and minerals! An immersion blender will pulverize it and you’ll never know it’s in there. The burnt parts definitely hold more flavor so you want to keep those on as well! I always Use a spatula and get every bit of goodness out of the pan and use that. I make soup like this frequently and it’s to die for good! 😍 What was that bread recipe?
This is one of my favorite soups to make! So delicious! Pinch of Yum has a wonderful bread recipe called “No Knead Miracle bread.” Both things you made here are in our families favorites!
Tipper, I love when you have your girls on with you. It warms my heart ❤❤. Is this a soup, side dish like a creamed butternut squash or like a filling in ravioli or perogies?? It looks to thick for soup. But it sure sounds delicious with your roasted veggies. 💕🙏🙏
It was a hit!! I actually made butternut squash soup like this last year and canned it (yes, I know you aren't supposed to). My hubby and I ate a quart for supper last night. It really is yummy. I like to do sheet pan suppers like that, too.
I added kale from garden to tomato soup. We enjoy soup every Tues no matter what the weather. Soup is so much better when using home grown ingredients, right? Yes!
This soup is very good when you add just one tablespoon of heavy cream in your individual bowl when serving. Just heat it put soup in bowl and make a pretty swirl of cream in bowl- looks nice tastes fantastic and creamy.
My girls ( they are adults) absolutely love roasted vegetables. They also make a roasted butternut squash soup. It’s absolutely amazing. I can’t remember if it’s a cream or broth base, maybe both.. thyme is the per- fect Herb for this type of soup, also roasted and puréed red peppers make a great flavor added to it. 😊
This was such a fun video. That soup was a real collaboration of the womenfolk of the family. Hearing Tipper asking Corrie's advice on cooking seemed like something of a role reversal. That soup is a lot like a Mexican farmhouse technique for making soup. Instead of roasting the vegetables in the oven, they roast them on a big griddle, kind of like the one Matt uses on the porch. They leave the charred bits on, even on the onion, and it doesn't seem to make it bitter. But basically it's the same. I can't wait to try your version. I can just leave out the vegetables I'm allergic to.
If you want to make it more liquid you could add chicken broth or vegetable broth. 🤔 And I love to watch all y’all just living… your content is such a great blessing!!!
That soup is really neat!!!! I'm gonna have to try that. I learned to can making a roasted tomato soup recipe so this made me think we'll just expand the vegetables. I love that idea! God bless y'all.
i make a root vegetable soup like this, but no sweet potatoes or squash.. instead i use turnips and radishes.. any fall veggie works really. its all so good. i like chicken stock and never tried coconut milk in it, must try that! its a favorite dinner in the cooler nights!
It really is much easier to half the squash without peeling and season and place face down on a tray with a little olive oil. Then scoop out the squash to add to soup. It does take time...about 40 mins on 375. But it would mean that the other veggies would roast separately if the other ones need less cook time. I love to make butternut squash soup this way and always add a little milk or cream at end and pulse or use hand mixer to make creamy. Always with some butter added. You can use a veggie or chicken stock and carrots and a couple of potatoes in the soup too along with garlic and onion One seasoning that works well is marjoram, a dash of allspice and salt/pepper. The bread looks great!
Baking the vegetables first just intensifies their flavor compared to just making the soup without baking them first. And as with any soup, there is no end to what vegetables one could use. The amounts of various veggies and the spices one uses just makes the soup a bit different each time. I like a dollop or two of plain yogurt on my soups. Thanks for sharing your version ladies...it looked very tasty....as did that bread.
I made a soup like that years ago-just roasted a variety of vegetables and afterwards added chicken stock and blended with a stick blender. It was really good.
The soup looked absolutely wonderful. I would never go to that much trouble just for myself, but it sure was fun watching y'all. Looks like that was a successful experiment! The finished product reminds me of a delicious organic soup that I used to buy. It came in a carton and I think was a blend of carrot and winter squash. Next time you make that rustic bread, Tipper, how about doing a video. Bread making is intimidating to me, but watching you do it will remove some of the fear factor :-)
Yum yum. I love soup any time whether it's 20 degrees or 90 degrees. I know some people will not eat soup in the summer time. It's such a comfort food. Tipper you and the girls and boys have a good evening. 🌻
Love your soup video, I'll definitely try it! I also wanted to share with you something that I do with small pumpkins (sugar) and butternut squash. My husband is on the keto diet to loose some weight and we can't eat beans, I'm also eating keto to support him, so I use the pumpkin or squash instead of the beans in my chili recipe and it's delicious! I dice it into half inch pieces and put it in when you add the tomatoe sauce, juice, or whatever tomatoe product you happen to use. The pumpkin and squash do not break down into mush, they stay very soft but formed, if you will. My husband said the other day when I made it, who'd of thought, if you told me you were going to serve me pumpkin or squash in my Chile I'd say no thank you! But he said I prefer it this way instead of the beans!😄 Please try it, I just know you will think it's delicious too! I might add, I do put a little more seasonings in just because the the pumpkin or squash can be a little bland. But it does take on the flavor really well and adds just a skosh of sweetness.❤
One of my favorite ways to make soup! I make mine with red bell peppers, tomatoes, onion, and lots of jalapenos - which I think Matt would appreciate! Coconut milk and some herbs to finish, it's so creamy and yummy.

I've done that before where I had some left over meatloaf, green beans, baked potatoes and I put them all in one pot and cooked it together. I mashed the baked potaoes with a little cream n butter, put the green beans and meatloaf in with a little cheese on top, it was really good.

Wonderful!
Oh my gosh! I LOVE " rustic cuisine"!!! Sooo beautiful. Great video. ❤️👍

Thanks for making this, I will be having this for dinner.
I added kale from garden to tomato soup. We enjoy soup every Tues no matter what the weather. Soup is so much better when using home grown ingredients, right? Yes!
That is a winner. Thanks for sharing. Brooks ♥️👍🙏🇺🇸
This soup is very good when you add just one tablespoon of heavy cream in your individual bowl when serving. Just heat it put soup in bowl and make a pretty swirl of cream in bowl- looks nice tastes fantastic and creamy.
This recipe looks delicious. I just love it when my family is in my kitchen helping me cook and prep. That's how our Thanksgiving are.
Looks delicious. Yall have a blessed night.
She looks so happy, to help out with those potatoes.🎉🎉
This soup looks like it is delicious.
That soup looks so good. I love a meal from the garden.
We love to be entertained by you Corrie!!!!
😊 Thank you!
This really made me smile the whole way thru.😊 So happy you enjoyed the soup. It looked yummy. ❤❤❤
Thank you 😊
I have been craving soup. Those ingredients sound like that soup will be delicious. God Bless
Thank you for watching!
My girls ( they are adults) absolutely love roasted vegetables. They also make a roasted butternut squash soup. It’s absolutely amazing. I can’t remember if it’s a cream or broth base, maybe both.. thyme is the per-
fect Herb for this type of soup, also roasted and puréed red peppers make a great flavor added to it. 😊
Yes, cream or coconut milk should be added for a creamy soup
That looks delicious, thank you ladies for sharing! 😍🤤😋 May God bless and keep you all!
Roasting veggies before adding them to soup! What a great idea!
Lovely soup, will be making it for sure
If you want to make it more liquid you could add chicken broth or vegetable broth. 🤔
And I love to watch all y’all just living… your content is such a great blessing!!!
I love roasted vegetables! Roasted beets are really good too.
I have never seen a recipe for roasted vegetable soup, but it looks delucious!
The pan looks like "thanksgiving"❤
😊
Baking the vegetables first just intensifies their flavor compared to just making the soup without baking them first. And as with any soup, there is no end to what vegetables one could use. The amounts of various veggies and the spices one uses just makes the soup a bit different each time. I like a dollop or two of plain yogurt on my soups. Thanks for sharing your version ladies...it looked very tasty....as did that bread.
Looks delicious! A nice hearty soup, perfect for this time of year.
Thank you Carolyn 😊
This is my kind of cooking! I love oven roasted vegetables.
I made a soup like that years ago-just roasted a variety of vegetables and afterwards added chicken stock and blended with a stick blender. It was really good.
😊
Thank you 😊
The soup looked so good!!! I love coconut milk in anything! Good cooking ladies.
This looks so good 👍.
That look so good Lady's. God Bless. 🧡&🙏🙏's for all. Jean
But he said I prefer it this way instead of the beans!😄
Please try it, I just know you will think it's delicious too! I might add, I do put a little more seasonings in just because the the pumpkin or squash can be a little bland. But it does take on the flavor really well and adds just a skosh of sweetness.❤
Great tip! Thank you 😊
I always use more broth to make it more soup texture. And I use cream or milk in it. So good.❤❤
Thank you 😊
One of my favorite ways to make soup! I make mine with red bell peppers, tomatoes, onion, and lots of jalapenos - which I think Matt would appreciate! Coconut milk and some herbs to finish, it's so creamy and yummy.
Sounds great!
