      Thanks! I used to do a bunch of large assemblies at public schools, so good to know that works for TH-cam, too :)
      Also helps that I’m running my voice through some processing ;) hope you have a good 2022!

    This is a great video! One question though: does this method only work after I change the settings and then record? Can I do this to a project I've already recorded?

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Sorry for the delay! Yes, you can do this for a project you already recorded. You’ll likely have to save the project to a new folder and select “Move all media to project directory”. Might be called something slightly different, I’m not at my computer to check exactly what it’s called.
      That will get all the recorded media and drop it into the same directory you’re saving the project to. If that doesn’t work, let me know and I can work with you a bit in the comments

    Great job. Unfortunately there's no way to synchronize changes across multiple collaborators in real time. I suppose of the audio files were stored in the cloud multiple people could access the same information simultaneously and share updates immediately.

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  10 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Some friends of mine were trying to figure this out, but unfortunately, we couldn’t figure out how to handle conflicts in the project file as people edit.
      It would be fun to pick up again, though. We were moreso trying to use GitHub repositories as collaborative storage, and be able to use branches to have a collaborator make edits, get notes/approvals/etc. before merging the changes into the DAW.
      It got complicated any time two people were working at the same time :(
      Have you looked at Bandlab, though?? That’s the closest I’ve seen to what you’re describing

  • @SunKing968
    @SunKing968 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Great job, thanks! I created the full project file ready to send without a problem, but should I be concerned that unlike yours, my audio files are more numerous with multiple file formats such as "wav.reapeaks" and ".wav"? Thanks!

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  ปีที่แล้ว

      You should be okay, a large project file will still work for the person you send it to. Also, I store my “reapeaks” files in a single folder somewhere else on my computer so I can delete them when they build up, but they’re fine to store in your project folder, just makes for a little more scrolling.
      One thing you can do to make sure your project folder contains only the file it needs is run File > Clean Project Directory, here’s a breakdown of what it does: www.reapertips.com/post/easy-clean-up-project-folders

      @@ReaperTutorials Hey, thanks a lot for your helpful response! By the way what exactly ARE "reapeaks" files?

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  ปีที่แล้ว

    How do i share the project file template with the audio and plugins fx/chain that I used? I did everything and the other user can see the plugins and audio, but I get the error that the plugins are not compatible even though they're both VST3 on both devices. It's the error "the following vst2s were not available. The following plugins were not available, reaper will keep the configurations but not be available etc"

    • @junovue
      @junovue 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      I'm building the template from a mac and sending it to a windows but they're vst3 plugins that should be compatible for both devices. Still showing up as an error.

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  9 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hmm that is a tricky one. Hard for me to tell without seeing them. Is it all the plugins that are failing, or just certain ones?
      My troubleshooting brain says to trust the error until we prove it wrong. Track down the VST locations on both computers and confirm there's no similarly-named VST in the VST3 folder. That's where I'd start. Sorry I can't be of more help.

    Hey man! This video was super helpful but im finding that i still have a few questions that maybe i just didnt get during the video!
    So i am trying to send over a reaper project to my drummer remotly through Dropbox. He also has Reaper
    Last time i sent him a project he got each individual track but none of the FX like you had explined in the first portion of the video. Now, is he gonna have to download those VST plugins on his computer and scan them into reper before he hears the FX? Or would Just sending him the "frozen" renders file be the key here.
    I am only sending projects for him to record drums so there isnt going to be any mixing involved quite yet. I just want him to be able to work with the tracks and hear the FX's. Hope to hear back soon, Thank you for your time!

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi again! In this case, you’ll want to send the “frozen” renders, or else he’ll have to download the VSTs and scan them in. Great question!
      I usually end up sending stems back and forth rather than project files for this exact reason :)

    Wouldn't this work the same way as "Save as..." and checking "Create a subdirectory for project" and "Copy all media into project directory"? The way it's described in the video, it's just about keeping audio files in a separate subfolder rather than the same directory as the project file.

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yep! Works the same way

    So my bandmate followed the short version of this video step by step and they're still offline when I import them. Is there something I should be doing on the receiving end? Maybe adjust some preferences or something?

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Shit, sorry I left this one for a year. I really hope you found a way to share projects. If they sent you the whole folder, you shouldn't have to do anything. One thing you can check on the receiving end is that there's a folder with all the audio files inside of it *inside* the folder they sent.
      If you get a project folder and it says it's only a few KB in size, there probably aren't audio files in it. That's the most common mistake I see.
      So all this means is that your bandmate may need to reorganize their project folder using this other video: th-cam.com/video/iiF5tCfHcvo/w-d-xo.html before they share the folder with you.

    So I’ve watched this video several times. For me, It won’t send all the files into my “audio files” folder. I have no idea why. There’s certain tracks that go completely missing.
    Most of the tracks missing I had a lot of splits in order to match a different take to the primary tracks. Doubling the vocals. Could that be why?

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      That's a good question. This might be the answer, but maybe not:
      Let's say you have three takes, each of those takes is saved as a single audio file. You make a bunch of cuts and splices to those tracks. Reaper still only keeps three tracks, the cuts and splices are stored in Reaper.
      If you want to make a new 'audio file' for the cut/spliced version, you can highlight all the items in that track and select 'Glue', this would create a new item. There are a few other methods for this (Freeze Tracks) but Glue is the one I go to 90% of the time.
      I'm flying blind here with what the problem is, so hopefully that's the answer.

    • @savagetofu1
      @savagetofu1 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@ReaperTutorials Thank you. I will try this “glue” feature. Thee other thought I had was to render each track that is heavily split. Thank you.

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  ปีที่แล้ว

      @@savagetofu1 rendering the tracks would also work! What I like about glueing is it will keep the 'glued' version within the project and load it in place immediately, so you don't need to import new items and shift them into place. Best of luck!

    Sorry, new guy here. So I did all this but still unable to send my files to collaborators. I was able to send this to one drive then share a link, but that only shares dry files, no effects. Is there a video showing the wet files being sent and received?

    • @ReaperTutorials
      @ReaperTutorials  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Hi! Sorry for the delay - are the effects on the individual tracks, or are they on the master track/folder tracks?
      Exporting individual tracks should retain effects if they’re on and enabled, but if the effects are on another track, you’d need to use the “selected tracks via master” option.
      Hope that helps, but let me know!
