      @@NothingToProve I just made a comment below that the part number without the sos hole for the right hand/brake side is 32728542296. My rt does not have SOS and believe it or not the parts guy at the BMW dealer never heard of SOS. Perhaps that feature is on European models?

    • @michaelskinner896
      @michaelskinner896 10 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Yes, the European markets have had this option for several years. For the American market, the 2024 models will have this for the first time.@@kevinfurr3311

    Thank you for this. Saw it in a previous video of yours and ordered the Wunderlich mounts, which means that I finally have a good mounting point for my phone now, for those situations when I need to use Waze or other software that BMW's integrated solution doesn't support (huge missed opportunity here IMO, but this is a different discussion). Just a quick note that you can find RAM balls with a 3/8 mount, which eliminates the need for the 3/8 to 1/4 adapter anymore. Keep on rocking with these videos!

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Thank you! 3/8" mount, ok, now I know. I just had the 1/4" from a few years ago and when I got these mirror stems, it didn't fit :( So I just got the adapter, which is a lot cheaper then buying another ball mount :) But now that you've put the bug in my head about that, I guess I'll have to order the 3/4" ball from RAM Mounts. BTW my wife is not going to be happy with you cause I'm spending more money! LOL!!!
      take care,
      Scott

    Many thanks for that very useful video. That definitly compliments the "limited" mounting description, which comes with the parts from Wunderlich. I now mounted my parts as well to position my camera either left or right. 👍

    I can recommend the INSTA360 1" RS 360 camera as an alternative to the GoPro. You can then reframe in post, which is very cool. BTW, love your channel, even the title. Really resonates with me. (I ride a 1200 RT of 2015 vintage).

    Nice video, Scott, useful for RT ánd RS - riders! BTW, I had a positive experience with the BMW SOS-device! I dropped my F850GS by trying to ride off with my disclock on the disc (wellknown problem) When I took it up I heard a telephone ringing sound and a friendly voice asked me: "This is BMW Motorrad The Netherlands; are you allright?" It came right out my handlebar LOL! I had a nice conversation with the guy. So..it works!!! Very amazing thing that should be mounted on all bikes as soon as possible!

    The M10 bolts with the attached ball from Ram Mounts are a bit shorter than the stock bolt holding the grips to the bars. Probably would've been fine on their own, but I bought a coupling nut and 55mm M10x1.5 stud to extend the ball-end bolt. Admittedly, it's nowhere near as clean as the Wunderlich or BMW pipe clamps. But I spent about $7 vs $140, so I'll live with the looks for now. I like the placement of these parts better, though. I may give in and open my wallet next summer.

    You can also get a ram mount that screws into the top of the steering stem after popping out the BMW roundel.

    • @NothingToProve

      I cannot find that on google or anywhere. Can you give me a link for it, so I can take a look and see if I want to add that to my bike. Thanks! Scott

    If you fit a small extension you can have the Max on it's side (It will still be fully 360) and it will have a clear view forward and back instead of being obscured by your body and the screen

    I enjoy your RT videos... thank you. I have a '21 RT with factory fog lights. My local dealer ordered me the 32728534366 for the left side and has the threaded hole for the light switch screw. Tackform makes some nice mounts which can come with the M10 x1.5 thread. Thanks again!

    I think the part numbers listed in the description are reversed, when I search for the parts it says the first listed part number is the right side, meaning if you sit on the bike, it’s the riders right.

    Just picked up a 2023 RT and have been looking for a way to mount my existing RAM mount to the RT. Thanks for the video! I do have a question though........ you mention the mirror mounts are 3/8". RAM has a 3/8" stud tough ball size B which is what my phone mount uses. Is there some reason you used the 1/4" stud ball and adapter rather than the 3/8" stud tough ball??

    • @NothingToProve
      @NothingToProve  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thank you. Na, it was just what I already had laying around in my collection of "stuff" from past bikes, so I used it. Since doing this video I've acquired the 3/8" stud and that is what's on there now as I type this 👍😁

    • @kevinfurr3311
      @kevinfurr3311 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is a bmw. Do they not use metric bolts/threads? You mentioned 3/8 but did you mean m10 or M8? I looked it up and M10 is close to 3/8 but not perfect. The bmw dealer just ordered the brake assembly clamp you mentioned and he could not tell me what the thread is as it doesnt say on his parts ordering system, so I have to get it in and figure it out.

  • @kevinfurr3311
    @kevinfurr3311 ปีที่แล้ว

    I am trying to buy the correct ball for the bmw stem part I just ordered from the bmw dealer. Amazingly enough the dealer could not tell me how the part is threaded. You are claiming that its 3/8 in thread, but I am seeing all kinds of references to M10 which I dont think 3/8 fits into M10. I blew up the ball part that you integrated into your video and its says the ball is M10. So does it need M10 or 3/8? The bmw part wont come in for 4 weeks from Germany and worst case I can wait and bring it to the hardware store to figure out before I order a ball. Help!!!

      Key word there is "order", which you cannot right now. BMW is not taking orders right now, cars or bikes. The same is true with a lot of OEMs. You have to take what's on the lot and if you don't like that, well, that's just too bad. :(
