That Snap-On does have a good professional look to it, and I do like the operation of the LED indication system. Like you say though, you are certainly paying for some pleasure with that price.
Your testing setup with the auto depressing arm is sweet. That's a really great way to do it and you don't have to do 1000 manual cycles. The husky 1/2 is a sloppy tool. I'm not surprised the digital 3/8 is poor. Do you have any experience with Matco 10 to 100 ft lbs 3/8 or any of their digitals? I found one on a big discount and considering it since I am not holding my breath for an Icon 3/8 soon.
Yeah it works really well at removing the human error. Sadly I don’t have any experience with Marco wrenches. I plan on testing one if we ever see the 3/8 icon.
Looking forward to an Icon 3/8". I like most of my Gearwrench stuff, but a 1 year warranty on their torque wrench isn't great. Plus, a lot of torque wrenches have that same 6 button control panel. If you've used one, you know how annoying it is to set the torque because it speeds up right when you want to slow down and overshoots. Or you slow down in advance and you then have to wait a while to get there. And you might still overshoot. Lol
Yeah hopefully they produce the 3/8 soon. Yep definitely one of the annoying features of digital torque wrenches. I know most people want digital but I find my self using the split beam if I don’t have to do angle.
More than likely won't be this year, Im trying to test other tools. Wish I could but only have so much $ to work with. That being said, I would expect similar accuracy in the 3/8 version as seen in the 1/2 testing.
I’m sure both the husky and Gearwrench will do the job, but the refinement of using it at least every other day the snap on just is more enjoyable and the confidence of it is nice. I like the side led’s because then I can do stages of torque on things without changing my torque. Just go to 2 led’s on all them, then go back and do the full torque. Plus the Gearwrench vibration seems like way too much. When you’re a professional, the one thing I wouldn’t cheap out on is a torque wrench.
Yep really depends if its going to be used every day or DIY, but the Snap-on is the way to go in 3/8 currently. Defiantly easy and enjoyable to use. I agree the vibration on the gearwrench is too much.
I have the 1/2 inch drive Icon digital electronic and love it, as it has all the features I like at an affordable price. If Icon comes out with a 3/8 inch digital in a 5 ft*lb to 100 ft*lb range I will be all over it.
Got the Gearwrench 3/8 digital you had in the video and 1/4 version - but really like to have the Snapon (would prefer as consistency and long term use).
@Tools Tested - The 1/2" drive digital torque wrench by ICON performed extremely well in your test compared to its SnapOn counterpart. With that being said, have you gotten any word yet on when & if a 3/8" drive digital ICON will be released... ? 🙂
I haven't heard or seen anything, really hope we see the 3/8 soon. Im shocked its taking this long bc Cornwell has been selling the almost identical torque wrenches for years. Maybe we see it released at SEMA.
@@Tools-Tested Thank you for the reply & we greatly appreciate you. I'm wondering why the ICON 3/8" digital wrench hasn't been released yet either. The market seems pretty ripe for this offering. Please let us know if you see or hear any buzz about this at SEMA... ! 😊
The snap on is good , and if you like made in usa. But that gear-wrench e-spec torque wrench is very innovative. They both are very good, pull the trigger if you can. And if not , keep in mind.
I would take the snap on because of that sound from the GW. Rainman Ray uses the GW on his videos and I have to turn the sound off during that part. Also the sound doesn’t change when you hit the desired setting only just warms that your close
$$$, hope to test it at some point, but after seeing how well the 1/2 tested I decide to spend the money on other brands/models I haven't tested. Wish I had the money to test them all, but right now this channel + my full-time Job doesn't pay enough lol.
Husky is a let down, I don’t like that vibration sound if the gear wrench. If I was to buy one I would get th snap on and hope I got a deal from my dealer. Great testing as always! 👍
Yeah I was shocked by the Husky, the click style tested well. Yep the Snap On is expensive but depending on your dealer probably can get it cheaper then MSRP. Thanks!
Hopefully next month, the Mac is out off stock. Haven’t decided if I’m going to do it in 3/8 or 1/4. Matco I don’t have the $$$ currently for it, but hopefully soon.
I would say the Quinn, if I remember correctly it had higher accuracy. Also the Quinn was easier to use imo. Some people commented below that they had issues with the GW.
@@Tools-Tested Awesome, yeah no worries take your time sir! I didn't know as well until I saw it last night but yeah will be on the lookout for your next video! Thank you and no problem!
@@Tools-Tested I'm very curious as well especially it stated their description: Torque accuracy of +/- 2% Clockwise and +/- 3% Counter Clockwise. And I agree it almost look's like Gearwrench so this is will be an intriguing test that you will do!
Oh man I was so hoping for Husky to be better. I'm a Husky fanboy so this stung a little. I will hope that it's just specific to your unit, or maybe Husky can provide a way to calibrate it yourself. I would never own a Snap On because i do not like the company, so at that price range, Milwaukee may be the way to go.
But the bigger issue is if it isn’t accurately holding down the fastener with the correct torque, vital parts could come off. Have you seen the devastation that happens from a harmonic balancer bolt flying off a big rig? Usually happens more from re-using a TTY fastener (that many people say is totally fine to do 👎🏻) but can happen is it’s not torqued accurately either. I do understand your point, not everyone has $800 for a torque wrench, I’m in that boat as well, but the money it would cost from an accident from my wheel falling off cause the lug nuts weren’t tight enough would be pretty costly.. For me I’d go for an even middle, I’m actually getting that GW one on Thursday, it’s very very close that I’d feel safe trusting that torque value, but also not $800 on a tool I’m not going to use all day every day 💸💸💸
Man, you're truly the hero we need. Always happy to see your testing videos! Thank you, as always! Do you happen to know if that Husky can be adjusted by the end-user? Might be able to adjust the calibration slightly to compensate for the undershoot, and make it more appealing for reliable DIY use. Personally, though, I think I'll likely end up with a clicker of some sort for my 3/8" needs. (I still haven't bothered to get one yet, as I haven't had an immediate need.)
Thanks! It looks like I might be able to adjust the Husky but I haven't had time to really look into it. I will post an update video if I can. Nothing wrong with a click style, defiantly if your not going to use it a lot.
@@Tools-Tested No worries on the update vid, if it's a hassle or not something you would normally do! Though on the other hand, perhaps it could make for a good video on what to do when your torque calibration is off, and show a variety of wrench styles!

Yeah I can see how it can be extremely annoying wish they allowed the sound to be turned down or off.
I can't believe you didn't include the 3/8" Quinn after the superior performance of the 1/2" Quinn digital torque wrench.

Please test the Ares tool digital angle torque wrench’s! They are waiting for more 1/2 but they do still have some 3/8

I want to know how accurate these are at 5,10,15 lbs
What’s better the Quinn digital or this Gearwrench digital if you had to buy?
I would say the Quinn, if I remember correctly it had higher accuracy. Also the Quinn was easier to use imo. Some people commented below that they had issues with the GW.
Awesome video! Are you going to test the M12 torque wrenches?
Soon, hopefully next week!
Let me guess, is the best one the wrench that costs 3x to 4x of the other contestants?
60 dollars to get the snap on set out and recalibrate
is it just me or the buzz on the GearWrench super annoying?? lol, seems overkill, would drive me crazy using it all day...
Hey @Tools-Tested I just saw Duralast 3/8 digital torque wrench from AutoZone in my local area, I was wondering if you can review it?
I can add it to the list, probably be a month before I can make the video though. Didn't know they offered one, thanks for the info!

Wonder how the quinn does in 3/8
I did test the 1/2 version, might test the 3/8 next month just don't have the $ right now.
whats the part number for the snapon torque wrench
ATECH2F125VK
Did you test the Quinn 3/8 torque wrench?
No not yet, but I did test it in 1/2

I would say that I don't care about 5% error, but for $170 I think I'd still want better than that.
Yep agreed
is the snap on not usa made?
SO is made in US.

I just got the Milwaukee, hopefully I can get a chance to test it soon.
For the occasional user at home I would go with the husky. Maybe not as accurate but for the price I could live with 4%
