I’ve been checking out a bunch of vids on this pedal and yours is top notch! Your comments are spot on! It’s definitely a great rock pedal, not just 80’s but other eras too. Unfortunately, it would be hard to use this in a variety cover band without several other pedals as well. But that could work very well. Great review!!!
I had a Tech 21 Fly Rig and eventually got rid of it. This Sonicake appears to be more useable, at least for me, with the way the effects are organized. After watching this video, I ordered one. Can’t wait to get it.
i really like that u have much more control of all your settings in all 4 positions. my MG has like a dummy dial. so the chorus is first and delay is last, so if i want just a little delay i have to turn the dial through all my effects to get there. AT LEAST FOR ME thats how it sounds to me
Best demo ever! This thing is amazing and props to the people behind Sonicake. It would be a perfect fly rig everyone should own if it had a lead boost. Maybe instead of the chorus in a future model. Without a lead boost it's really more of a really cool bedroom unit. If they added noise reduction too I'd pay three times the price in a heartbeat.
Can you post your assessment of it when it arrives? I'm thinking about getting one also, but doing some research. I was about to get a Tech 21 Fly Rig and this came up in the TH-cam search. None of the fly rig style pedals are anywhere near me to demo so I am actually just relying on "word of mouth" so to speak from people who actually have one. Thanks!
I am actually looking to replace my Fly Rig with this pedal I have the 1st version of the Fly Rig and i find the Plexi setting unusable for my tastes ,, ,,, The rest of the Fly Rig is great . :)
Just got mine, nice lush chorus . I use the gain as more of a boost volume at 10/11, tone 12 gain 9. The delay at a long delay time at around 3,the repeat at 9/10 blend 9/10. The reverb is a big hall so at 9 or less mostly less .( this reverb tends to wash out you sound at higher volumes) At the lower it almost takes the place of a slap back.I like this FXs pedal better than my TC Nova system and its way more intuitive .
Great Review! I especially enjoyed just playing and adjusting the settings with a written overlay. It was preferable to watch this explanation to get a true impression of what the pedal can do rather than a "mr movietone i'm so bad and cool" voice playing the same old tired riffs twice and making some cookie cut and paste comments. Very solid and thorough review. Subscribed!!!!!
C B my bad. In all honesty. Even at low gain settings it has at least a somewhat mid gain sound and does its best work at upper gain tones. If you’re looking for clean boosts, this prob isn’t the best choice. Hope you find this helpful.
C B from what I've seen, the Blues version of this has a compressor which can be used as a clean boost by dialing the compression back and cranking the volume. It has Comp instead of Chorus though. Not sure if that would help you or create another dilemma.
I had a multi effects pedal that died and I'm slowly buying single pedals to replace it. I still need a delay pedal. I have a vintage style overdrive for blues tones. With this pedal, I can get rock tones and also get the delay I need for a little more than what just a delay alone would cost! I think this is an awesome deal! Thanks for the review! Btw...how is the cabinet simulator?👍😎🎸🎶
74dart man you’re welcome! It’s actually pretty solid. My vid I did on it was pretty accurate to what I heard through the studio speakers. It’s def a usable option.
This might be a stupid question, but when the cab simulator is on, can you plug headphones straight in and use it as a headphone amp for silent practice?
Hi! I have an old but magical Morley Bigfoot 50W and I use it like a clean/overdrive straight into a 4x12, sounds good but I'm planning to take a sonicbar, minimizing the dimension of my rig. Do you think that I can play over a loud drummer with that kind of equipment or I need to take something more punchy? I play in a slayer style thrash metal band
Marco T. Ah so you’re going to use in into the front end of an amp just as a normal pedal. Yes. I believe it’s eq curve will be able to punch enough. Are you looking for the other effects or really just a high gain pedal and the other stuff is just extra?
@@aaronjlivecchi I play a lot of styles and I think that I can easily switch between each one without too much problems, I play blues reggae and jazz or thrash or stoner metal. I have a punk rock band too but I don't want to carry a tube head
Marco T. I’d say if you’re going to make use of the other effects. Go for it. All of them are decently solid within their own right. But if you’re just looking for a high gain pedal. There could be better options out there. Especially if you’re willing to look in the used department.
Thanks! I guess it could a tiny bit. But the reverb on this is more of a hall reverb than a spring verb simulator. So it won’t be that exactly. Maybe at lower settings a little.
Out of curiosity, can you dial in a Petrucci tone with this? It would be basically: 1. Chorus - low 2. Gain - high 3. Delay - slow and few repeats 4. Reverb - 9-12 o'clock Think it would work? If so can you post it? That's what I'm looking for but don't have $1,000 to spend. Crazy huh? LOL
Honestly I’m not sure. I’m somewhat familiar with JP but def would say I’ve tried to capture his tone. I’m sure with a similar voiced amp and some humbuckers you could get some what in the near ball park. It’s not the best high gain Marshall Sound I’ve ever heard. But it is def good. It more than delivers for its price range imo
Wow, at the end I thought a Richard Donner Blockbuster was about to begin 😁👍🏾
Awesome, everything you need just in one box.

It nails that , The Cult. Sonic Temple , sound.

Nice! Hope it works out for you! I don’t have any experience with the Fly rig
How good it was?

Thanks so much!! Yes maybe buy this and a used mini boost and you’re set!
After this review I will buy, thanks for the demo
andre69rock you’re welcome! Glad you found it helpful!
I like these tiny multi effects
Love it. I don't use distortion much, but the chorus, reverb and delay sound terrific. Probably will order one. Thanks for the review!
The Rogue Tomato thank you and youre welcome! Glad you found it helpful!
I'm not an 80's metal fan at all but I think I can use this anyways, since it seems quite adjustable. Just ordered one. Great review
I especially love the delay and reverb. Great deal for this unit!
Thank you! Hope you enjoy it!
For sure! Solid sounds in it!

john Richardson def has some very usable sounds for the price! Glad you’re enjoying it! :)
I also noticed that it dosn't like other pedals
john Richardson yea I’m not sure it was meant to be integrated into a rig but be a mini rig in itself.
I'm going to try it with a different power supply with a daisy chain to see if that helps.
Getting some DOTN in the early gain riffs...sweet
Cool!
Thanks man, I will buy it

Great review dude but would have like to hear the overdrive with more volume and less gain as a clean boost option

Aaron J Livecchi cool, thank you for that info. I do like the review though.

It can be used that way and turning the volume down on your guitar it cleans up but still has a edge to it.
Impressive video. Can be used for just about anything I play.
Jody Sanders glad you found it helpful!
Just got one,well pleased,all for under £60,BNIB😊

how often does someone use the words "WARM AND CHORUS" in the same sentence? but its true
This might be a stupid question, but when the cab simulator is on, can you plug headphones straight in and use it as a headphone amp for silent practice?
can you use 1/4" out to Amp & XLR out to FOH at the same time ?
You just gained a sub - great work....
Thanks!
Muito bom 😌

Is there a new pedal or device to reproduce the Tom Scholz or Hysteria sound of the Rockman?
No clue
@@aaronjlivecchi There's a sudden spike in the youtube videos on it. I hope Joyo is on it.
Nice presentation. Can the reverb drip to the surf sound or come close to it? Thanks.
Thanks! I guess it could a tiny bit. But the reverb on this is more of a hall reverb than a spring verb simulator. So it won’t be that exactly. Maybe at lower settings a little.
does it have a noise gate? sounds awesome
I don’t believe it does
sounds just like intro to "Were stars" by Dio (Hear n Aid)
Not familiar with that tune/band
th-cam.com/video/G5H94GHb-10/w-d-xo.html check it out brother!
also are you getting this sound just from this one pedal??
Evan Razor all
Sounds are from the pedal.
Yes!!!!
Hey man, great demo.... how much do these units retail for, and who stocks them?
John Versace thank you man! They’re like 80$ new I think on amazon.
Thanks man ' I’ll definitely get myself one! Keep up the good work 👍🎸

Ebay is selling it for about 20 bucks cheaper
How to you prefer to run this with your amp? through the front or through the effects loop like you'd normally run your time based effects?
All front end for me. Drives into mods into delays into verbs
Thanks!
How does this sound with high volumes?
Victor De Los Santos Bernad pretty much the same. It’s got a ton of volume on tap.
Thanks!
