@Botitas It's kinda weird how mad you're getting about a positive comment on a TH-cam video, about how the comfort mechanics work in an Early Access game.
Instead of equalizing all the chairs, the comfort level should just use whatever your "best" available is instead of the lower level. As is, players are actually discouraged from using stools/benches etc.
@@Acarinn Starts to become ‘clutter’ if it’s not to be used, which contributes more to discomfort than comfort. The maypole adds +1 comfort. They're currently found out in the world ONLY and if you adjust the ground they will break. You can also put cheats on and spawn them.
I do enjoy you testing out the mechanics of Valheim to properly understand them. I was watching this while playing the game. At a point I immediately made a new Table, Chair and Banner which all improved my comfort level. Thanks.currently at lvl 8 comfort which gives 15 mins rested.
Fantastic video! I have played 110 hours of this game and actually had very little understanding of how the comfort system worked. You've helped a great deal!
Thank you for this. I finally understand why I don’t have max comfort. Time to destroy a bench. Also appreciate the comfort level 3 structure, I’m going to start using it.
Something I learned recently is if you have a really big house there is a comfort zone radius, so you could have one area of the house giving max comfort level and another area giving a lower lvl comfort. We had ours at 17 or 18 and then if we moved to the other end of house the area was a 9 comfort.
Thank you so much! i've started playing the game a couple days ago since i saw you'r videos, they are really helpful and well explained, keep it going!
I think the comfort overriding is just backwards. I don't see the issue with the chairs and tables having different levels. The issue is that the comfort level should look for the objects with the HIGHEST comfort level and use that, even if there is a stool and a chair in the same building. The chair should take priority. That way, it would be like the game rewarding you for using nicer looking furniture. (you feel more comfortable sitting in a chair with back support than a stool)
Right on, we're at comfort 7 in our base. Thanks for the tips. Im going to try making a few small rest spots in between with some partial buildings for comfort 3 buff stops.
If you build your base next to a Maypole that you find in the world you can get 18 comfort, and if you can find some way to spawn a Yule tree without commands you can have 19 comfort.
Dont replace or change the values for the stool and the bench, gott say I agree with u that they shouldnt overwrite each other but it makes perfect sense for the chair to be 2 cause it has a back rest unlike the others therefore its more comfortable
I dunno, somehow I achieved comfort level 5 just by placing down a campfire in a swamp dungeon. I think those green torches in those dungeons count towards comfort
Worth noting that daytime lasts 21m. So assuming you don't fight at night , 21 + 1 extra for running back seems to be the sweet spot for me. That is 15 comfort. Of course the more the better , cause you never know if you always make it back to base on time.
The override bug is a simple miscalculation in the code. It automatically prioritize the lower comfort items over the higher ones. It most likely bc the lower tier item is above in the code order or something like that. It could be very east to fix or very hard depends on how they make their code. All we need to do is to make sure the devs knows about this issue and see if they can fix it.
I love the comfort system its a really unique and immersive mechanic that's adds a bit of extra depth to gameplay, a Viking couldn't go on a raid without being comfy surely!
Hey FireSpark I know I’m kinda late but just wanted to say to reach a comfort level 2 you need to be under shelter using a smelter or furnace as a fire and you should get comfort level 2!

The stool and straw bed might be a case of vanity. By having something poor in a rich home lowers the quality of the home. Personally, some old items hold some sentimental value, but for most of society, that would be not the case.
they should add an update that requires extra pieces depending on how many people are currently "resting" in the space. ie - you get the 2 points from a chair if you're alone, but if you have 3 people there you'll need 3 chairs to get the full buff. but comfort from fires and rugs etc are shared.
Haha if you are in the swamp, there are some trees you can kinda sneak under(some will work even sneaking on the side not actually under anything) that will give shelter. then the cost of wood is a lot less, this is good if for some reason you aren't running away from everything there.
@Botitas If the bean bag chair made you less comfortable, you probably wouldn't put it there. It's not a luxury buff, it's a rested buff. All it does is limit the creativity of the player.
*UPDATE* I actually tried this last night but on a rock with a lox rug. Did not go above 1 comfort :( guess you need shelter to get more than 1 comfort

You can get comfort level 3 by digging a tiny hole straight down in the ground near your fire and shoving a roof piece of your choosing on one of the corners, reducing the overall cost down to 14 wood. Woohoo. XD
the highest comfort level i reached is 15 probably because i use the stool as a small table to place some beer mugs xD ...so now i know why its only 15 thanks xD
We need a guide on when invasions actually start happening and how each group of monsters gets unlocked to appear in invasions. I have two worlds. On one world invasions didn’t start until Day 57 and on another world it started on Day 15. On the Day 15 world I haven’t even killed the Elder yet (second boss) or even built a raft or boat to explore yet. What triggers invasions? Invasions are when a red circle appears on your map and a group of monsters attacks your placed structures. They don’t really bother me since I build deep moats around every base I have, but it would be helpful to know what triggers the first invasion.
I think it can only trigger if you are building your base near a certain number of trees and stay in that base for a certain time. I did not really test this but I have two bases one near the woods which triggers a raid almost everytime i stay there (i work on it for a few days each) and my main base which I built after deforesting the surrounding area. I got raids in the beginning phase of building the main base but after finishing it I got none because there are no trees near my base anymore. Also I found a stone which said you should not build your base near the woods because the greydwarves will come or something like that.
That overriding probably is a feature to reduce maximum comfort level and to reduce spamming too many objects in a room, but maybe there is a bug: It doesn't make sense to reduce comfort level, they should just count the highest in some cases like stool bench chair, for esthetics you may want to place a bench or a stool, but you won't when it's reducing comfort level. So these two things won't ever get used, only accidentally, before the placer notices that his c. level is getting reduced. The only reduction maybe making sense is the dragon king overload bed paired with cheap beds. This reduction says: "Help your friends to get to the same level as yourself, share like real viking socialists. 🚩🚩🚩", or something like that. :D
For anyone looking at this later on - The "downgrading" from original beds and stools/benches no longer happens - it's been patched and fixed.
