5:00 hilarious fun fact about the Jack Stone SUV- it’s regarded as the set that “ended an era.” Mads Nipper brought it to a board meeting to use it as an example of why the company was failing in the early 2000’s (expensive new molds for a product that sold poorly). “This isn’t a fire truck- it’s a spaceship. We are never making this mistake again.”
That's insane! It definitely felt like a spaceship when building it, and I can see why it would be the perfect example of a set to bring. If you take a look a the parts list, only a quarter of the parts are actually still in production today. o_o
This is the moment that was mentioned in Brick by Brick!
@@CheeseyStudiosI’m surprised even half of them are still in production! 😂
@@GreatGatzB proud of you bringing up this fact! :D
And the number 6 is the one that started saving the company.
This is how the story goes (from the book "Brick by Brick"):
"Nipper spotted a prototype for a fire truck fashioned by a designer named Henrik Andersen. Inspired by the 1980s City fire trucks that he had built in his youth, Andersen had given the two-decade-old truck a modern yet classic makeover. The kid in him told Nipper that Andersen's truck was a winner. (...) (days later) Nipper called his six hundred developers and marketers together to reset the design teams' direction. (...) Nipper put up a slide of a chunky, somewhat stale 1997 truck from LEGO City. «This is where we forgot to innovate», he announced. «Even though is an iconic product, not having newness and freshness in a classic toy is a deadly sin". He next flashed an image of a 2001 fire truck from Jack Stone (...) «looks like a spaceship, not a fire truck», Nipper asserted. He then put a slide of Andersen's newly reinvented truck, which would soon launch under the revived City brand (...) «this is what a fire truck should look like,» Nipper announced. And then pointing to the Jack Stone toy, he added, «we will never again make a fire truck like that one.»"
This was in March 2004, and that prototype would become the firetruck number 6 launched in 2005.
The 2005 fire truck was the first Lego set I ever got, and for me it is the most nostalgic. I remember getting it for Christmas and I was so happy about it. It shaped my childhood and what my passion is now.
I'm so glad everyone agrees that that set is just the best. It's just so perfect!
@@CheeseyStudios seeing your video and seeing it again I decided to order it on bricklink so I can have a part of my childhood with me at school
That was one of my first sets as well, along with the 2005 police car and doctor’s car.
It was also my first Lego set! I got it after getting stitches for the first time when I was a toddler. Such pure nostalgia
I got this set right before it retired, since in 2005 I was a baby lol
I can’t believe how happy i was to see the 2005 firetruck on this list, it was my first ever lego set, which i got for christmas at only 2 years old!!! Its shaped me so much as a person throughout my life and im so excited to see how many other people share this oddly specific experience
2 years old, what? xD That's awesome. Yeah, it really doesn't get better than this set.
@cheeseystudios yeah, probably not the best decision on my uncles part 😅
I didn't realize the 2005 set was so long lived. One of my favorite childhood sets for sure.
Kind of blew my mind too! I think I got it in 2005. Guess my parents didn't need to rush out and get that one xD
The 2005 fire truck was my first Lego set ever! Got it for Christmas 2008 from my granddad. However my favorite fire truck would have to be 70436, Phantom fire Truck 3000 from Lego Hidden Side. I love how unique it is compared to other fire trucks, with the folded up mech in the back acting as a turret and the Bionicle reference on the side of the truck, it's very cool!
What a great first set! That Phantom Fire Truck is so cool looking.
For my birthday one year, two different people gave me set 7239 (the 2005 model at 5:45). Rather than being disappointed that I got the same thing twice, I loved it. Like you said, it really is the greatest of all time. My older brother also had the jack stone model, which we also loved because its simplicity made it perfect for crashing and tearing apart. Interestingly, our Jack minifig had a black torso, not gray like the one you showed
Oh, interesting! I'll have to double check and see if I got the right Jack. Not that I mind at all as that set is already in deep storage 🤣
Seeing the 2005 set again almost brought a tear to my eye. Got it as a gift for christmas as a kid, so much nostalgia and happines from playing with it :D
I'm so glad other people have such fond memories of the set too. It's just so good!
My god, the 2005 7239 set sets me back in memory lane. I remember to this day going with my mom by bus to shopping centre to toy store just to get this one set. I was 7. And since I'm polish in these years (2000s-2010s) Lego still wasn't such strong brand here. It wasn't as much sets as in other countries, stuff was expensive for people. It wasn't my first lego or city set, but it for sure shaped something in memories.
It's so cool to see how many people have gotten to experience this set. It's definitely one of the greatest of all time!
Love a video dedicated to a Lego staple. I also owned that jack stone fire truck set when I was younger. I still got the firefighter figure. Great video, glad to see appreciation for a build we would typically take for granted.
Ayy! Love that you had the Jack Stone set. I've gotta do a Revisiting video on the theme one day 😂
@@CheeseyStudios a Jack Stone retrospective would be so wild! And a welcome one too
There’s also the fact that the Lego factory in Denmark burned down twice, but from the ashes, Lego grew back and became bigger.
True that!
I actually really like the old firefighter truck instructions that had you place like 30 bricks at once, because it means less paper wasted on simple instructions, since the actual build was much simpler and only relied on a layer-by-layer construction which is actually quite easy to figure out with such large instruction steps
I do prefer it over the instructions today which painfully have you add one, or sometimes even zero pieces per step...
As someone that recently built two bigger classic space sets (Beta 1 command base, Galaxy Explorer) and 2 modern larger sets in a medieval theme (Viking Village and Medieval Town Square), I can definitely say the modern instructions look much cleaner. The build process for the old sets is simpler, adding layers of bricks and plates mostly, which allows for much shorter instructions to be usable and still have a nice building experience.
Overall, I prefer having simpler instructions that allow you to build at a slightly faster pace. Some of the sets I buy today are large and have thousands of pieces and finding the time to spend hours on building isn't ideal, as having to wait a day or two in between sessions isn't as fun.
One other small thing I started to notice, that I became much more critical of the quality and strength of the builds, even while building it. For example, I was worried throughout building the 3 building set piece from the Medieval town square that the connections with the hinge plates were too weak, especially if you pick up the whole assembly.
Only at the very end of building this part of the set, you add some technic bars into some bricks with crossopenings, strengthening the front of where the hinge connected the center building with the other two. Still, this rather weak connection between the buildings is something I'm going to change first, as to also allow the buildings to be opened fully and side by side as well. It is the only major flaw I could find with the set and very unlike LEGO.
I still have the parts from the 2005 fire truck still around. The ladder, the doors, the blue cheese slopes, they're all in other things I've made growing up. The boat and even the stickers are still around some random places.
You might have to try putting it back together!
The 2005 fire truck as the first LEGO set I ever owned, I built it with my dad when I was 4
That's so awesome! It's such a great set.
A great rundown with some iconic landmark sets included. I really like these beautifully made videos that go into a specific Lego theme. This is not as fun as a more complete look into a specific line (like the Viking or Knight's Kingdom videos that I really loved) but it is not too far behind either.
The remark about the castle sets in the early part of the video almost jumped me out of my seat, the irony was about as cold as it was true. I do love me a firetruck, but having a single good one and maybe a firestation is probably all you ever need, while having more castle certainly is never bad. It is a problem with LEGO sets ever since the late 90's, they started to move away a little from the building and designing your own world aspect and moved more into sets meant to play with, with added play features and bigger pieces for building.
I remember as a kid I never understood why there were barely any normal citizens and residential building sets you could buy. I had maybe 7 firefighter minifigures and 12 policemen minifigs and I rarely, if ever, used more than 2 of each in my cities. Even commercial buildings like a supermarket, a store, or even something as basic and common as a farm was much less available than our trusty firefighters and police sets. Like many of my kid friends, we were more busy creating our own little worlds and building, than actually playing with existing stuff, which I guess is more common today.
Thanks for the video!
Glad you enjoyed! The lack of houses from LEGO City was always frustrating to me too as a kid. Creator 3in1 at least had some, but they always needed so e heavy modification and usually were quite large! I've been glad to see that City in recent years does a better job of this, with a lot more shops and apartments.
@@CheeseyStudios For sure things are slowly trending up.
One thing I noticed, that apart from the modular buildings, the modern building sets look a bit simple or sometimes it is only a hint of a building. At least it gives you the intention of what is meant to be there or the drive to improve on the design.
I think I found my new favorite channel.
You’re such an amazing commentator and hearing about your own experience with Lego Fire Trucks makes me feel all warm inside
I'm so glad you found the channel! Thank you for the kind words. ❤️
So glad to see so many people remember that 2005 fire engine so fondly, it's one of those sets that I very distinctly remember getting. I was torn between that set and the 2004 Snow Speeder but I am very glad to have gotten that fire truck. Couldn't agree with your assessment on it more, it's just perfect.
Definitely made the right choice! I feel that set has aged so well, too.
Glad to see the 8-wheel airport fire truck got a cameo at 4:20.
It's one of 2 or 3 fire trucks I own and I think the design is super cool. Kinda makes me think of something out of Thunderbirds.
I've gotta look into that one a bit more! Curious to see what functions it has
my favorite is 2016 fire station I loved the garage door and the sliding feture on the side :)
That is a cool one! It's so big 👀
6593 Blaze Battler - 1991. No question, greatest fire truck ever.
I think a few others mentioned that one specifically too - great looking kit!
I got that 2005 fire truck when i was 6 or so i even have the firestation from that series and everything from the city hospital sets from that era.
I do love the early years of City.
ive said this in conversations before, but anything with emergency vehicles will sell well to kids. as a kid, the 2006 airport fire truck was one of the first sets i owned that wasnt from the harry potter line and im glad to see its inclusion in this video! great work!
Airport fire trucks are just the best!
Thank you for the video. For me it's 6340 Hook and ladder. It was a birthday present from my parents. My favourite set of all childhood. And a dream set, of course, is 6571. Probably, I better present it to myself for my next birthday 😊
Ooh, that is a lovely station. You had better get it :)
5:30 Oh wow, so thats where that big red cockpit peice came from! I used to make so many spaceships and trains and cars with it, but i never knew how it ended up in my collection, funny how a single lego peice can bring back so many memories like that.
That's so true! LEGO really does have an uncanny power to take us back in time.
The first Lego Fire Truck I ever had was the Lego City fire truck (7239), and I still have it built and on display to this day. I find it great to see you also appreciate this amazing fire truck!
It's been great seeing the outpouring of love for that set here in the comments! Awesome to see the positive impact it's had.
You could say that this channel is ON FIRE RIGHT NOW
(Pun alert😂)
Ha! I love it xD
I support the Fire Nation.. great video. I never knew how many fire department sets there were. Great job..
lol! Thank you, Grumpy ❤️
The new Fire Nation under Zuko, right?
When I saw the video name I immediately thought of my airport fire truck (6440). Glad it made it to your list!
So happy I found that one! I've fallen in love with that little set. I think it cost $110 but so worth it 😂
My favorite is the 2013 model. It looks detailed and modern. It matches well with the 2016 fire ladder truck too!
A few people have mentioned that one! Cool little set
The 2005 truck was my first and only system fire truck, but my little brother was obscessed with them growing up. After he got older, we retrofitted and remixed fire trucks into spaceships to fit in better with a star wars based universe. I am proud to say that the monarchal buerocracy of Nalpalmar still stands strong in the fight against the empire!
That's so awesome - love it!
I had a set growing up that didn't make your list. It was very similartothe1978 set but would have been a couple of years earlier. The building was white with 3 arched bays for a chief's car, a pumper and a ladder truck. I don't remember any mini figures with it.
I'll have to see if I can find it!
I have had half of the ones mentioned, especially the early and weird ones with non standard figures. My parents bought me the weirdest LEGO as a child.
That's an impressive fire truck collection! Yeah, there's definitely some goofy ones..
I really love how you turn these set reviews into really heartfelt history lessons. It's such an enjoyable watch.
So glad you enjoyed! It's been a lot of fun breaking from the standard review formula. I
Great run-through and thanks for the shout-out! It was so much fun to visit the studio - thanks Caleb!
Btw - I didn't ask for a shout-out or a link to my store. Caleb did that just because he's a good dude.
Got my first fire set for Christmas it was set 60002 it will forever be my favorite
Quite a few people have mentioned that one specifically! That's a good set
for me it's set 7906 Fireboat from 2007 it was my first real look into the City Line and I've held it near and dear for its unique playability (though the base has changed quite a bit since in its modern rendition) (edit Spelling)
Yeah! That's a great one. My brother had that set. The floating boats were so much fun
i also owned the 2005 firetruck! i loved it!
It's so awesome to see the outpouring of love for that set. It's clearly a classic!
on of my first Lego sets was the Fabuland Firestation lol.
That's awesome lol! Fabuland is so interesting. I'd love to get a proper set at some point.
Lets not forget the weird Fire Fighter wave of Hero Factory, the Ordeal of Fire (aka HF 2.0).
That would have been hilarious if they had a Hero Factory fire truck set lol
To be honest, the only fire truck I have is set 70436, the Hidden Side Phantom Fire Truck 3000. It’s so unique compared to any other fire truck Lego has made. The set is essentially Lego’s original idea for an Optimus Prime vs Slender man set. We would get an official Optimus Prime set 2 years later but this set was such a cool concept & it really sold me.
Love how much detail they put into that set.
I appreciate calling out the lack of castle sets currently, I miss a medieval theme so much
Ah, me too.... Hopefully it'll return eventually. There's demand, at least among the adults lol
@@CheeseyStudios agreed! I appreciate Lego's attempt with the lion knights castle & rumored upcoming expensive market/village set but I think a lot of adult collectors (myself included) want play-scale sets as well for the displayablity and lower cost
It's not LEGO that's obsessed with fire trucks. It's kids. They're big and bright and make loud noises and transport heroes to rescue people. Makes sense.
Oh, for sure! You'd be hard-pressed to find a LEGO kid out there who didn't have at least one fire engine.
@@CheeseyStudios for Christmas, we took my 5 month old to the LEGO store and presented him with a bunch of duplo sets. The one that held his attention longest was the duplo fire engine. And that became his first LEGO set.
6340 Hook & Ladder is and probably always will be the definitive fire engine for me. I haven't got one as a kid but I remember seeing it everywhere in catalogs. Fortunately I had the privilege to pick one up since and mmmaybe it's not the best of the bunch but you gotta admire the excess of including four extending ladder pieces! At full length it reaches probably like a foot high, which is really silly considering the hose string is way, way shorter. Wouldn't have it any other way though.
Someone else mentioned that set too! I mean, does any other truck come close to reaching that far? That's so cool honestly
The high amount of firetruck may be because of the history of Lego. Their barn/factory burned down which led them to making toys.
Yeah, they certainly had a rough start!
I wonder if theres more lego firetrucks or police cars? Would be interesting to see the difference
That's a good question. I bet it would be pretty close!
Power miners also kind of had a fire fighter theme too, now that I think about it 🤔
You know, you're exactly right lol
5:00
...I loved Jack Stone as a kid. Not sure what that says about me.
Hey, I'm right there with you xD It was definitely fun for kids, just not really LEGO, or sustainable for LEGO to produce.
🔥🔥🔥 (can someone put this out, this video was just too fire it got to my comment)
😎
I'm just gonna say it. The biggest fire house was the Ghostbusters HQ.
No fire truck tho 🤷
Growing up, my favorite fire truck was the Light & Sound 6480 model. Then I also ended up getting the police Light & Sound 6450 model and well, I had lights and sirens blaring throughout the house!
Having gotten a taste of that with the airport fire truck from 91, I can imagine those sets were a load of fun!
Man the #7239 really sent chills down my spine. I remember the gasmask/rebreather being such an amazing concept to me, like how can you fit 4 parts onto a minfigures head??? I'm instantly hunting one down on ebay, or sitting by the side of my lego bin and fishing out long forgotten pieces.
ikr?? Definitely blew my mind back in the day too! It's brilliant parts design.
Pretty sure that Red’s Water Rescue is so expensive because of LEGO Cars fans wanting Red himself for their Radiator Springs display (which is only missing Doc Hudson, Lizzie, and a non-4+ version of Sheriff; all you’d really need for everyone else would be the Flo’s V8 Cafe set and the Team 95 pit stop set with Guido and Luigi).
Seriously, why DID LEGO skip out on Doc?
Ah, that does make a lot of sense
Don’t know if this counts but the fire fighter mixels have always been some of my favorites. And their max can turn into a fire truck which is awesome
I should add those to the list, ha!
Some people watch football, others watch late night shows or news.
No, I watch a man talk about toy fires trucks.
though in all seriousness great video!
And I respect you for it xD Really glad you enjoyed!
I would like to educate the masses to a Lego City subtheme near and dear to my heart. In 2012 Lego launched the Forest Fire wave, based around the ide of putting out fires in country areas., stepping out of the city. It was liked by the many people I talked about it to, because the minifigures had similar uniforms to the ones worn by the CFS, who are responsible for putting out most Bushfires here in Australia. The line only lasted a year, yet it is my favourite Lego City Subtheme.
That's really cool. Always loved the more rural stuff, having grown up on the edge of a small town.
there’s WAY to many fire trucks bruh 🙃 but if I had to pick one it would be 305-2 and I have no idea why lol.
Fair enough 🤣 But yeah, there are sooooo many. 172 sets, but so many of those sets include multiples!
When I was a kid I had the Jack Stone Fire Attack Team set (4609) and I actually loved the big and simple truck pieces that allowed me to create new types of vehicles and creations quickly
I certainly enjoyed them as a kid too. You could create a bunch of wacky stuff with ease! It was a great way to get into custom building
A fellow ksp fan i see :)
That 7239 firetruck set was my first lego set ever at around 4 years old. I loved seeing it on there, it really melt my heart and filled it with nostalgia for some reason and I actually felt "proud" of owning one. I got 2 other firetrucks on later years but none compares to that, it really is the greatest ever, never stopped wanting new legos after that.
It's so cool seeing how many people adore that set. I thought I might be the only one, but it's clear that so many people have been impacted by that set!
the 2005 firetruck was nearly the first lego set I have, i remember really wanting it and being so happy my best friend bought it and i could play with it at his house
That's so cool! It's such a great set. Love to see how many people have great memories associated with it.
My dad had the lego land fire station from 1881. Guess what? We still have it.
Impressive!
Lego fire trucks brought me into Lego that 2010 one I believe with the ladder truck and boat trailer was peak Lego 🤩
So awesome! It's been really cool reading about how LEGO firefighters got a lot of people into the hobby
I think the sheer amount of fire lego sets has to do with the fact that Lego 's warehouse burned down - twice
Probably does play a part lol
8:23 woah I made a cameo in a Cheesey Studios video
O_O
I think they like fire trucks and moster trucks
ruszard
And police cars!
The mighty dinosaur set is still on shelf since 2016 so i think it is the longest a set under 400$ to have ever be on shelf
Could be!
As a firefighter its always been fun building these sets as a kid though i do wish we actually had trucks that cool
More realistic ones would be nice
I got the 735 Basic set way back in the early 90s, and it had everything. Working doors, individual tools, working fire hose rollers, an articulated rooftop ladder, a battery-powered light and sound system complete with plates with cabling with electric components, and instructions for multiple different builds, as well as additional fire truck configurations that I never found build instructions for. I would love to revisit this set again if I ever reacquire or rebuild it.
That set was a testament to the company's commitment to playability and attention to detail even back in the day.
A few others actually had mentioned that one too. I totally missed it on my list of 172, but it looks so cool. Probably one of the most realistic looking trucks they've done.
I adore the 2005 fire truck, and its amazing to see how many people have similar adoration for the set!
The comment section has filled me with joy today seeing that too!
we need someone to combine every lego fire station into one gigantic building
That would be legendary lolol
I own the 1981 6382 Fire Station! I found it at a second hand LEGO store and it was so new that it included the original sticker sheet! So cool to see it here!
That's an awesome find! Wait, like the stickers hadn't even been applied yet? 👀
@@CheeseyStudios Yes -- I still kept them on the sheet though. It would feel wrong to apply them after over 40 years 😬
@@StoneDomino That's very fair 🤣
Lego City is more prepared to put out fires than they are to save men who have fallen into the river in Lego City
Ain't that the truth
I guess this is partly the reason why I found like 110 windscreens, mostly trans-light blue, when sorting my Lego yesterday. 😅
😂
I was crossing my fingers for 6571 to appear hahaha that set gave me so many years of entertainment at my grandparents' apartment!
I think the popularity of firetrucks is probably cos rescue services are a fair bit less controversial and way more wholesome than law enforcement, though unfortunately they also seem to have an outsized presence in sets 😅 cartoonish criminals are a lot more marketable to kids than systemic corruption I guess haha
6571 is a cute little set! I really like the look of that big engine
@@CheeseyStudios honestly couldn't even remember what the original set looked like, because I'd taken it apart and built so many other things with it over the years hahaha but the parts are so iconic 👌😩
I'd say that it is not LEGO that is obsessed with them but children. I know for sure that I was when I was a kid.
Aren't we all!
I had no idea about the 2023 set replicating an older wooden fire truck! It looks really good. 😊
Lovely set. I have one from the inside tour as well (3rd tour). Unfortunately Lego has had a few fires over the years, none recently thankfully, but hence the affinity with fire engines. Oh and I’ve still not built it yet!
It is a beautiful set! I do wish it was easier to get, but its rarity does make it extra special. I'm so glad I was able to feature the real thing in the video!
To be honest I’ve been building with Lego for five years or so and not gotten a single fire truck 😂
That's crazy lol! I suppose it depends at least partially at what age you get into LEGO as well.
oh god I HAD that bizarre fabuland looking mickeys fire engine set
such a strange set i dont even know how i got it, but some of the pieces where kinda neat
too bad i dont have it anymore...
I do wonder why that was made. It's the most random of sets, especially for the year 2000
@@CheeseyStudios its definitely the strangest set i ever had, as soon as you showed that fabuland fire truck i was wondering if you would mention it. was that really just sold normally? it seem more like something they would sell or give away as a promotion
I bet part of the reason it was made was to put on shelves at Disneyland or something
I definitely agree with you on that 2005 City fire truck. I really wanted to get it, but 9 year old me had limited money and the XXL mobile crane was just too enticing.
XXL was a beauty. Always wanted that one as a kid too, but it never happened. They had so many great construction sets in those early years of City!
i also love the Lego fire trucks
Who doesn't! They're so awesome
I own surprisingly Manny of these: the mickey mouse Jackstone (both the small and attack one) and the first with garage doors. Seeing how relatively few sets I own, I am quite impressed.
There was also a mixel attemptinh to be a fire truck
A few other people mentioned the Mixel too xD I've gotta add that to the list!
7239 from 2005 is a very admirable Fire Truck, but I also enjoyed 60002 Fire Truck from 2013 is my personal favorite of all time. A very modern design with seating for 2 figures inside and a ton of accessories without the need for a trailer.
I'll toss a bone to 7942 Off Road Fire Rescue from 2007, which felt like it stayed on store shelves for a surprisingly long time. Not a full fire truck but still very versatile and I rebuilt this a few times in my youth.
My brother had the off-road truck as a kid. Really liked that one too. I love it when LEGO just packs a bunch of fun accessories in a small set like that
6:14 I have the 2005 set but I was born in 2011
Isn't that wild? 😂
I live way far from USA but i love seeing lego things. I wish i got these beautiful sets
Great video! I grew up with the 1994 Flame Fighters station, but also had the 2005 truck, early 2000's Mickey fire truck, and of course the Jack Stone fire attack team.
Appreciate it! That's actually pretty cool how familiar you were with some of these - quite the variety, too!
LEGO fire engines peaked with 2020 Hidden Side's 70436: Phantom Fire Truck 3000. Because it has a mech. Need I say more?
lol, the relief of that BL seller as he finally gets rid of his Jackstone set 😅
That Hidden Side really does look awesome. And yeah, I cannot believe the seller message me that lol xD That was hilarious. I'll have to send him the link to this video...
Can confirm, I'm that seller. The Jack Stone fire truck earned its place in the hall of fame/shame of "never thought I'd be able to sell this thing". What a turnaround of fortune for that poor set though!
So that’s why I can never find any LEGO fire pieces
🤣🤣🤣
My firefighter truck was the one that came with the 2007 7945 fire station. I actually wonder where it went because i dont think i have those pieces in my lego collection 🤔
That was my first fire station! Loved that set. The little fire response vehicle was always the stand out to me for some reason. Hope you find yours!
I was 5 in 2013 and the first set I got was the fire truck with burning house, later on I got the entire 2013 lineup and love the fire sets, the ones with the massive blue technic cannons suck, 2016s stud shooter hose were a good in between
Yeah, those Technic cannons are too much for me 🤣 They look pretty silly
I get it, the reason might be because of two of the lego buildings around 50-90 years ago both burned down and they hated that so they make firetrucks😂
True lol....
Wait I only just realised that I have the 2005 fire truck in my collection, I will have to go rebuild it😅
Yes, do it! It's so good
The 2005 fire truck reminds me of something from new w york
Really great video. I enjoy how much variation there was in all the themes. (Although Hidden Side was missing)
Strange thumbnail, though. I nearly dismissed the video, thinking it was just some clickbate video by a different youtuber.
The Hidden Side truck is really sweet looking, love all the detail they put on that one.
I loved firefighters as a kid, so I think I had 10 firetrucks. 5:44 was my first one I'm pretty sure. Also I love the airport firetruck 60061, I had a huge Lego airplane collection as well. Too bad I sold most of it
Ah, RIP. I do regret getting rid of some of my old City sets too, but then again, what would I do with them now? xD
Aww man, I always wanted that 2005 Fire Truck. I just never got around to getting it. Years later I went back into my local Lego store,l and they had a new model.. it was alright looking. But not as good imo.
Now that I'm done older, and know how to use bricklink.. I may have to track one down..
This is an awesome video! Half of these trucks I haven't seen!
Glad I could introduce you to some new sets! Honestly, I'd recommend picking up that 2005 one though. If you get it used, it's not too expensive at all.
Is it only me, or are they getting worse and worse and wore over time?
The thing is back in the 80s every vehicle was 4 studs wide (apart from the train that was 6). In the 90s the introduced fenders that was half thick, so the cars and trucks become 5 wide, then they put tires that was wider than the finder, so they got 6 wide. And they started to do the main body 6 wide, with the fenders sticking out, so they got 7 wide, and they starting having over sized wheel so they got 8 wide. The trains are still 6 wide. This is just stupid.
The extra width gives nothing. They cost more, take more time to build, take more space. The argument that building them are part of the fun is also hollow. Its less fun when it takes more time, and... with the same number of bicks. you could have made 2 trucks.. like there was in the old sets.
I do miss the 4-wide looking back on them. It's a very manageable scale, and looks adorable.
When I think of vehicles LEGO has probably done a lot, I usually think of police stuff, but man, fire doesn't stay that far back, my point is, I want to see more medical and construction zone stuff ;-;
Construction sets are so cool. Wish we'd see more too!
bro im scared when i pressed the video a LEGO AD ABOUT FIRE TRUCKS CAME UP ............. HELP!
👀👀👀
Yes, they really are obsessed with fire trucks.
I took a good friend to a lego show, and after seeing everything, she made me buy a firetruck for my lego city. Because 'hey, what happens if there's a fire in your lego town?'
She was right. Every lego town needs a fire engine 👍❤
True that!
Maybe they're obsessed because their original factory burned down😶
😬😬😬
6:23. How comes the used price is higher than the purchase price when the set is new?
Just made a mistake, sorry
Can't blame them for making them fire trucks are cool as hell. I even had the 2013 fire truck as a kid (ID 60002 to be specific)
Quite a few people have referenced that one specifically! So often in fact I don't even have to look up that set number anymore xD Must be a good one!
