- Vladimir Putin has given a national address in which he has announced the partial mobilisation of troops in Russia.

He said forces were facing western military operations on the frontline in Ukraine and military reserves would be called up as a result. Putin also said Russia would give its 'full support' to referendums on being annexed by Russia due to be held this weekend by the Russian proxy authorities in occupied Donetsk, Luhansk, Kherson and Zaporizhzhia.

That was clear since Ukraine pushed Russia out of Kyiv. Only very few wars take less than a year. Russias military just isn't as capable as the German military at the beginning of World War II for example.

When did they suffer massive casualties? The Kharkiv offensive was a withdrawal they didn't lose much there, the Kherson offensive failed and Ukraine took massive casualties. Russia realised they didn't have the man power to achieve their goals, so they mobilized it was obviously going to happen. But tbh the only reason they needed to mobilize was because of western help, without western help Ukraine would have lost already.
So what ukraine did since day 1?
