Got into gold panning a few years ago as a result of fly fishing and realizing the sands under my feet were littered with fine gold, which led to carrying the same two pans in my backpack. The activity is addicting ... I now go out and collect 5 gallon buckets to bring home and sluice in the backyard. Enjoyable but back breaking work and patience is key. See a lot of panners going way too fast with the swirling .. your instruction is the best I have ever seen.
Sir, I have seen you many times on the various gold mining shows, and you have always been a class act. In all those shows, no one has ever really explained or broken down the concept of panning and how to do it. Well done, thank you. You have the heart of a teacher.
This is the very best instructional video on the subject of gold panning I have ever watched. I had the good fortune to learn panning from a man who had mined in Colorado in the early 1900s (he was 93 at the time) and the guys who made this video did as well as he did.
usual price of a TH-cam video is $10 to $50 per 1000 views of the video. So if a video is expected to generate a million views, the price for the sponsored post will be between $10000 to $50000. This Video has 5.5 Million views. Made a lot of money.
Thank you for this video. I went to the local river last night and froze my butt off, but I just had to give it a try. And wouldnt you know my first pan ever had 4 pieces of really fine gold. Not a bad way to break into prospecting. Thank you again.
Thank you. I live in TX and have waited too long to do this, but I like to see you guys do it and instruct others. It is a fascinating hobby or job, however you regard it.
Thank you for such a great video! And the message about getting kids outside was perfect. My kids loved being outside doing stuff. I think a big part of the reason was I tried to include them in everything I did starting when they were just toddlers. To this day my adult children and my grandchildren love being outdoors. Panning, camping, fishing, hunting or just a day at the beach. And being outdoors cost way less than paying for video games and consoles lol.

hi. I bought a Garrett panning kit in Hope, BC today and me and a friend went up to Yale and Emory Creek and tried our hand at panning. I used exactly the methods described here, and am excited to say that I found a few flakes of gold. I will carry this kit with me in my trucking travels and see what I can find. I also carry an Eagle Claw rod and reel kit, so I'm set. Cheers. :)
Brian Mason my great grandpa actually built, and lived in a house in Hope. I visited my grandparents in Oliver a few weeks ago, and on our drive back to the airport they actually showed me the house. It was neat, you have a great view of the sister mountains. (That’s what my grandmother called them) beautiful out there
Thank you Freddy for mentioning make it a family outing once in awhile. You were right on and the kids can learn about the great outdoors! Nice video and would like to see more of your operation. Take care and keep getting the yellow stuff, Ron
Myself and my kid have recently starting panning for gold..We have a store 20 minutes out that gave us information. .It truly is a lot of fun!..Good to get outside for sure..A lot of patience on panning goes a long way...Great video by the way.. Thank You..
I did gold panning living in the Czech Republic, small flakes and a few pickers and BOY it was fun and a great excuse to get out of doors! Used the same pan too.
Thanks man, i liked the video and how you mentioned the lack of children outdoors now at the end. Even in the city, play parks are empty or used for other reasons children should not know about. Sad times for the future and over weight unable to survive for more than a day or two children and even adults now. When i grew up the family ate together at the same time and with only one meal cooked for the whole family. The one phone was attached to the wall and you went out to your normal hangouts to find your friends. If you found no one you right away at least you had a walk or a bike ride to stay in normal shape. I love how the B.M.O. scale "norm" has moved to the fatter side to not hurt their feelings or something since i was a child. Sure there might of been a overweight person or two in school but now look at it and we are looking at twigs that can never get bigger or one or two healthy bodies. the rest look like they will need air and stop/sit timeout if they ran for a half of a minute. What got me amazed lately was the fact some high schools have child daycare rooms so the new single mommies can be in school. Children raising children? what next? Instructions how to eat with a fork , knife and spoon instead of your fingers only? Sorry if i got a little upity about the youth of today. It hurts to see it. Best of skill and luck with your gold digging. Even that expression has changer for the worse these days !
Excellent demonstration, very efficient. I have been panning for gold more years than I care to count but now i am going to try that wobble wash (side to side with wrist action) of yours ..... good .....Thanks. Life; never a day goes buy that you don't learn something.
how many Thanks you wanted me to say ..all thanks is never enough, you have just change my kids lifestyle, going outside better than setting at home playing videogames..may God bless you and your family.
Valuable Video/Tutorial. Hobby gold panning combined with flyfishing doesn't get much better here in Maine. Thank you for your valuable time spent sharing your expertise. :)
Very educational. Very detail oriented. Perfect for me. I have never tried anything like this before. I can see where these instructional videos will build confidence. It’s like your guardian angel is on your shoulder watching you. I LIKE IT VERY MUCH. Can I come up for some private lessons to make sure I’m not throwing away gold. I see where there are other prospectors who do their rinsing over another pan or wash bucket so if they think they have worked it a little too vigorously, they can do that material again. Again, I can see where you could get a lot more comfortable with your technique. I would just be worried I was being a little too aggressive and lose my gold. Practice, Practice, Practice, RIGHT??

It's been nearly 20 years since I had a pan in my hand at the "national championships" upstream from Sacramento. Still have the T-shirt. You guys have a much better technique than this amateur ever did. My brother brought a cupful of concentrate with a little color showing home the other day that came from the Yukon. I'll be panning in my backyard one day son if I can find my darn "sucker-bottle" :-)
This is a highly useful video. Very clear and educational. Thanks, fellas. Just got my Garrett _Super Sluice_ 15" pan in the mail. Can't wait to try it out.
I learned a lot, your niece is a great instructor as well, I live on the beach in SC, we don't have any rocks or hills, I'm dying to get outdoors and do that.
Interesting video. Friend of mine has a hobby to go finnish lapland to dig gold with shovels and he has asked me to go with him. I have'nt had a opportunity to get holidays to goldmining trip yet, but maybe next summer

Great advice I wish I started doing this many years ago just for fun. I may not have but it’s never to late to start and like you said I will teach my son to do this he is just eight years old. Urketadic for real 😳 I seen way to many peaces fall off🤫🤣
If it was real gold it would of prolly stayed in the pan because if it’s weight
it was probably a really shiny rock, or pyrite
that is not gold
