    You are the first person i have ever seen use tubes in these. I have used both Hoosier and MT and never used tubes.

    What a great side-by-side comparison that helps explain tire compounds, tube vs not, contact patch, and wrinkle walls. We're rootin' for ya'. This will help a lot of people out with their 'sneekers.'

      It would help if both were new. Kinda painful watching a tire that has not been aired up, heated up and stretched out being compared to a tire that has lol

    M/T is the way to go .

    Very interesting to see the difference. To me it seems like the Mickey being soft in the middle of the sidewall then stiff on the inside and outside makes them work better, doesnt let the wrinkles go all the way to the edge of the sidewall and end up pulling the tread up off the track like the Hoosier did.

    Theres a reason all the fast cars run MT on a decent track and Hoosier on no prep and street. A Hoosier tire will tire shake often on a sticky track.

    Think the Hoosiers being stiffer, upset the tire after the initial wrinkle snaps back which causes them to break loose. The softer Mickeys soak up the springback after the wrinkle. Does that make sense? You can definitely see less and bigger wrinkles on the Hoosiers, and more finer wrinkles on the M/Ts. Your car is to light and fast for a stiffer tire. They would probably work better on a heavier car at the same power.

  • @lloydholt6511
    @lloydholt6511 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Interesting to see the difference in the two manufacturers. You could be on to something. I think the MT will wrinkle more lessening the shock load on the suspension and result in the tire planting harder on the race surface.

  • @brendanmccarthy492
    @brendanmccarthy492 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hoosier seems more of a street or no prep tire. Tend to shake on the track with good prep. That m/t tho hooks and plants very well.

    Always liked the predictability of the MTs, on my car i never knew what Hoosiers were going to do. Same lane all day and nearly same ETs some passes they dead stick all way, some they would skate mid to end of the track and if it was late in the evening and i saw dew on cars i was like a cat in a room full of rocking chairs.... i knew shit was going to happen but didnt know when or where. Went back to MTs and felt like a sunday drive again. Granted low 6s i am nowhere near your power level either, good luck.

  • @danmyers9372

    So does a softer sidewall make a tire more prone to potentially wadding up and going into tire shake? Seems it might if you don’t get enough wheel speed?.

    What’s the reason for tubes

  • @larrysutton6530
    @larrysutton6530 4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I have heard that the Hoosiers are more of a street/noprep tire and the M/T are for a preped surface. Another thing I wonder about is comparing a tube style tire with a non tube style tire a fair comparison 🤔? Does one brand offer both styles if so would you have the same results with a tire that matches the style of the other one be it a tube style or non tube style regardless of the brand? I think it would be worth looking into because if they react the same you might have a less expensive option.

    That wasn't as much of a caparison as it was him convincing himself the M/Ts are better, like the shot in the dark suspension changes he convinces himself on. It seems like he's met the limit of what his suspension is going to give him and anything from here on out might help but won't be the end all fix he's hoping for. Hi John! Looking at the picture of the Hoosier wrinkling you can see that the slick is on the verge of wadding up which will cause tire shake and then tire spin if you dont lift! I dont know if you were giving the mt s more power on successive runs but the tire did not wad up like the Hoosier did and from the sound of the tire it sounded like it was digging and not too much excessive spinning and it stayed hooked very well! Was there any difference in 60' times between the two tires? That should tell you which tire is better. Also how much air pressure in the mt s? You can play with it up or down to see what your car likes! Great video also!
