They do travel through space but not as sound waves as we can hear but through X-rays radio waves and radiation they are picked up by our radio telescopes and converted into sound waves we can hear

I believe stars are alive while planets are more like objects. The planets just spin but stars have a pulse. The planets are not the closest things physiologically to the stars the closest thing to stars are actual life forms such as us. We are made from them.
