Don't build condominiums where the owner has to have a 4th job to pay high HOA fees. Current fees are running from $500-1,000 per month, forcing owners to sell their condos. Better to place malls in high rises like the old days.

I used to go to downtown Atlanta to shop Richs and Davisons instead of the malls. They're long gone but I'd love to go again just to explore and hang out. But : 1.They need to make it be safe and feel safe with police visibility, no statistical games playing down crime or excusing it's perception 2. It's not always convenient to take Marta and I'm not going to pay $30 to park. Bring back on street parking that's free after a certain time and on weekends like other cities do. It also says "somebody's home" and is a barrier between pedestrians and traffic. Atlanta used to have it but but it disappeared over the years to be replaced by often unattended private lots with jacked up prices at night (sometimes one closely followed the other) 4.It's a joke among San Franciscans that they only go to Fishermsn's Wharf to take out of town visitors. Appeal to locals too, not just tourists.
Fortunately Newport is a great developer and I think understands these things.
