@@doomsdayrabbit4398 Drona kind of lines up since he is directly northwest of Forest Haven and, in BotW, Mount Drena is directly northwest of the Great Hyrule Forest. Linder's location is on the western side of the map in TWW and centered vertically. Lindor's Brow in BotW is in a similar location on the overall map. Besides these two, none of the other Koroks line up between the two maps. I guess it makes sense because Forest Haven and the Great Hyrule Forest don't seem to line up at all anyways :/
Yeah, the pic of all their headshots was sent to me a while ago and i later found out he named them, but forgot to include a little shoutout for him in the script 🤦♂️
cute little detail, Chio's mask is a gingko leaf, one of the prehistoric ancient trees that predates many of the species around today. It's one of the only types of leaves that isn't symmetrical (as it comes from a different line of evolution than most trees do today) which is fitting because he is the "elder"
i like how some of the masks they wear are identifiable as definite types of leaves! chio for example has a gingko leaf mask, a very iconic loong lived tree brought over to japan by chinese monks. because it's yellow i'd say that it either suggests his extreme age, or a certain golden cultivar. maybe the mushrooms are a jab at how there were gingko trees that managed to survive the nukes? there are a few other definite, like sasquatch being a maple, and squimblo being a lily pad. the rest are very much up to interpretation, but i have a few suggestions. longman looks like a pea, but more likely he might be based off a mimosa tree. beardus reminds me of a southern catapla tree, with the distinct heart leaves. idrk the rest my tree naming skills are a bit rusty 😅
Wish i knew all that while scripting. That'd have been great info for this video, but could also work for a future possible new useless information video
This video was lovely! I love koroks. After all these years, it still makes me smile when they say “Ya ha ha!” I still rewatch Quinbobin’s korok hunt videos. I always enjoy your vids so much. Thank you!
The magic colors for different inventories sound like references to both the Triforce as well as to the goddess magic abilities from OoT. Blue is wisdom and Nayru's Love, which shields the player, hence the shield inventory. Green is courage and Farote's Wind, which teleports, hence bows which are ranged weapons. Red is power and Din's Fire, the only offensive ability of the three, hence the primary weapon inventory.
Hah, i had similar stuff written and recorded for that part of the video and left it on the cutting room floor during editing for better pacing. Thanks for sharing though, i like your explanation for the bows and rrows better than what I had
QuinBoBin named them, if you haven’t watched his videos go watch him, he’s my go to for comfort videos cause the outta pocket stuff he says always makes me laugh.
Fun Fact: The shape of the leaf on the Elder Korok's head is the shape of a leaf from the ginkgo tree, which is thought to be one of the oldest single species of tree.
i love these videos, your way of presenting information and the way you explain it all is very calming. i threw a ton of your videos into a playlist to listen to while i collect korok seeds in botw
@@TheZeldaEnthusiast Yup! And I'm pretty sure the colours come in different combos too (top flap, body, blanket roll) but I haven't looked into it in proper detail yet
The part about the Kokiri never evolving into Koroks is an assumption that is not actually supported by the games or any supplemental materials. We don't actually know how or why the kokiri became koroks. We do know that the kokiri start out as Hylian children and become kokiri as a consequence of living in the Lost Woods under the protection of the Great Deku Tree. Personally, I believe that the transformation from Kokiri to Korok is just the culmination of the effects that changed them from Hylians to Kokiri. Thus, koroks could show up in any branch of the timeline.
Botw and totk cant really belong to any existing timeline because of lack of Zonai in future time period and the fact that they founded Hyrule. Hyrule in the main timeline was founded by a human, not zonai. I like the theory that botw and totk are part of a branching timeline following skyward sword. Like Oot, time travel plays a key role in Link succeeding against a great evil.
i never got the hate for koroks. i love the little guys and their little ya ha ha after you find a seed was always more than enough reward for me! they're adorable (except longface i hate that guy)
Zelda breath of the wild and Tears of the kingdom takes place in ALL branches because it’s sooooooooooooooooooooo far in the future that any games before that just became a myth or a legend
I can't find the video, but someone was physically collecting a large number of Koroks needing to reach their friends and one of the colors they came in was teal. Teal isn't in your classification, though.
Haha! I forgot to switch to regular and didnt notic bc of the rain and was wondering why i was so low on bomb arrows a bit later. Good eye, thanks! Luckily though I dont save much while capturing footage for new videos so I'm able to reload my last hard save and get those bomb arrows back 😎
There wasnt a way to separate them out like there is by leaf face, color, stick in hand, or grounded/airborne, but i should have at least mentioned the different hiding types, now that you mention it. I'd have to go through and tally them up manually, but this could be good info for a part 2 or another upcoming video though ;) thanks
Thanks for watching! If you want more goofy mini documentaries like this, lemme know what you want me to cover next
Omg, what's with you pronouncing Ko Ki Ri like pot pourri?
I think you forgot the part where Squimblo is the best Korok
Yooooooo! He really is the perfect boi.
the most perfectist man
Best korok? There are good kororks? I thought they were all demons, Quin
It's good to know that longman is rare though!

They've also based locations on these names in BOTW and TOTK, like Elma's Knoll and Linder's Brow etc
@@syedshah9029Someone should compare the names of those locations to where each of the ones in TWW were. If it's consistent that's awesome.

There is also a blue sasquatch korok named oaki in Botw who is connected to one of the korok trials.
QuinBoBin references spotted lets fucking go
beardus
wait a moment, did you choose some of those names based on how Quinbobin calls them? If so great reference
Yeah, the pic of all their headshots was sent to me a while ago and i later found out he named them, but forgot to include a little shoutout for him in the script 🤦♂️
Yeah, some are based on quin's names for them and the rest are ones I couldn't remember his names for 😅
Forklift and Squimblo are literally god tier
edit: Hetsu's poop getting bigger is the best change in TOTK
I think Chio's leaf is a ginko leaf! Loved seeing the Quinbobin references :)

“Extra bang for your buck” poor hestu. It shouldn’t bang. Is he doing okay?
Quinbobin korok names, perfect
I love little videos like this that go into a small facet of a video game in such depth and detail and gives it the respect it deserves
What kind of hallucinogens would I need to take to come up with such perfect names for korok leaf masks?

The good kind.
you make it sound like completely normal when its technically such a nerd thing to do, it's so goofy i love it!!

Thanks so much! Feedback like this helps me know I'm on the right track.
Beardis, squimblo, forklift have become permanent names for me but squimblo is the best korok
These are my favorite videos to watch, love you man
Good video. This is the Zelda datamining/theorycrafting we need.

They feel like the forest spirits from princess mononoke
7:06 Yo, wtf, those designs are bomb! Why?!
I love Koroks. They are one of the cutest beings in the franchise (second only to the Picori from Minish Cap).💚
I just want to say, I really appreciate your content! I'm learning so much

Violincello is the real name of the instrument.
I have to ask, is there a chart of the koroks that includes the backpack ones?

Hi uncle tony
BEARDUS MY BABY
Also, what are you wearing (the red shirt and blue pants)? Is it a mod? Very Marioesque
seems to be botw's old shirt dyed red and the hylian pants dyed blue! you can dye clothes at the shop in hateno ^_^
Yep, what clovart said. The old well worn shirt dyed red and the hylian trousers dyed blue
They totally just imported the models from TWWHD and then ran out of time.
Am I a Korok master now?
Ahhhh
I approve of everything in this piece except for the censorship. Never pander to TH-cam
