storyteller is unironically one of my favourite series on TH-cam, couldn't quite believe my eyes when I saw your video pop up. I'm so exited for this hahah
The one man with a crate of puppets they mentioned was a series of Penny Arcade comics leading up to Fallout 3. It was funny as it eventually ended with him leaving the Vault and wandering the Wastelands with his puppets, killing Raiders. They even put a vault jumpsuit for his vault into Fallout 3 you could find in a Raider camp alongside a holotape recording where the Raiders suggest whomever found this needs to burn it right away before the Puppet Man comes looking for it.
FINALLY! I'm so glad you guys finally got around to watching ShoddyCast's Fallout Series. There's a FORT KNOX gold mine of fallout lore in his S1 and S2 Eps. Looking forward to taking a road down memory lane watching you guys enjoy and react to the Fallout lore. It will help TREMENDOUSLY if you ever decide to stream/play Fallout 3/New Vegas and Fallout 4.
The same PA comics were where the "1000 men, one woman", "1000 women, one men", and "1000 people and a panther" vaults came from. They have an... interesting sense of humor.
*fun fact about vault 21, the experiment was something like where all the dwellers were people with gambling addictions. One day, Mr House, the guy that's essentially in charge of New Vegas visits the vault and decides to make a bet with the dwellers on some game.* *I don't remember what happened if the dwellers won, but the point is, Mr House won, proceeded to "evict" the current inhabitants of Vault 21, and turned it into a hotel.*
The House Always Wins. For real though, he also sealed off the bottom levels of The Vault. Given where HIS command center in the Lucky 38 I'm fairly certain he did that to eliminate a potential structural weakness.
If I remember correctly, it was a game of blackjack in which House managed to cheat. If the dwellers won, they could have stayed in the vault and House wouldn't have been able to do anything to it. And yeah, House sealed the bottom part of the vault to prevent people gaining access to the technology and to prevent a shortcut for anyone wanting to dig to enter the Lucky 38. ( No I don't have 6k+ hours on New Vegas, not at all ^^ )
I thought it was only suspected that he cheated. But yes, he did kick them out of their home and block off a whole lot of usable space. Then turned it into a tourist trap that some of them could staff and regret reaching out to him in.
Technically if you're within a very small distance from the epicenter of a nuclear explosion, you literally get disintegrated before your never endings cant tell your brain you're getting hurt. It's one of the few instantaneous ways to die. From you're perspective you just blink out of existence. Unfortunately if you're a bit further away, you experience something closer to Sarah Connor's nightmare in Terminator 2 Judgement Day.
Probably one of the best fallout lore series ever made I highly recommend checking them all out. I always imagine the vault with 999 men and the vault with 999 women being located near each other so that when they get out the real experiment begins to find out what they do afterwards.
Dude totally. The next Fallout game should feature those two Vaults being so close that they were able to tunnel and connect them, and they're basically sex hippies who worship all types of kinks and lust. All because the two vaults opened almost immediately after the war because the single male/female died within a month. My headcannon anyways.
There was an episode of the show Sliders that touched on the idea of low male population. The episode was about where they go to an alternate Earth where I think a virus or something killed most of the male population. The males who survived were basically put into special facilities where they were put on strict diets and exercise programs and their health and activities were closely monitored and regulated to ensure they are in peak physical condition and were "harvested" in a very clinical way. Basically their "production" capabilities were paramount above any other considerations of comfort or personal freedoms.
With the mention of Vault-Tec lunch cases, I can't wait until we get to the Internet Historians story of Fallout 76. That said, Shoddy Casts lore videos are really solid.
I know it is hard to schedule longer multipart reactions, but this series has like 40 or more episodes....so if you don't want to spend next three years doing one episode per month... I'm sure people would appreciate more parts per video 🙂
actually to speak of there was 122 publicly known Vaults, with 1 of them being specifically for the President of the United States. still for how many Americans are in the US as of right now, that dont even come close to housing everyone.
Image if everything that's happened throughout the Fallout franchise all actually happened in that virtual reality vault, and every different person who played a Fallout game represents the the way every different member of that virtual reality experiment went through the simulated story they've been put into, everything up till this point would make so much sense
To get an idea of the Vaults, in a more dramatic way than the "10 Vaults you wouldn't want to live in", I'd recommend Oxhorn's video on Vault 11. It is quite long, 53min, but a few minutes of it is him running around to loot, and he talk about doing stuff for quests within the game. Something which you can cut out during editing if you want to cut the video a bit shorter. However he has a great dramatic voice, nice scripted and the story progress bit by bit. Adding the Link to the video in a Reply to this comment in case links puts comments into "to be approved"-folder.
I've personally never seen any of the storyteller stuff, but for fallout stuff I've always enjoyed Oxhorn, he covers all the fallout games and just about every location, story, and piece of lore that has to do with them, just a suggestion cause I feel you would enjoy his videos 😁
@@justanotheranimeprofilepic He has a decent amount that are 30 minutes or less, plus compared to the storyteller, I like his narration and thoughts on certain stories in the games more, so I'm basically just biased 😅
@@undeadtrooper13 oh don't get me wrong I got into fallout because of oxhorn but he's very much gameplay/lore and that gameplay bit can be boring in a reaction
@@justanotheranimeprofilepic That's understandable, I was already kinda into Fallout, but I felt like I could appreciate some of it more after watching some of his vids
Speaking of Fallout, The Russian Badger's Unstoppable Moron Makes Nuclear Wasteland Noticeably Worse is a hilarious piece of Fallout content, and another random recommendation is School Live (Gakkou Gurashi) it has some good elements with the human mind breaking and trauma, something Fallout has a lot of.
Please do more Storyteller videos! It's one of the best produced lore series on TH-cam period. Also, maybe check out the SCP universe, especially "Confinement" by Lord Bung
This is unrelated to this video, but something I'd like to recommend again is the video "Halo 2 - Funny Dialogue" by Villainous Toaster. It's hilarious and I cannot suggest it enough.
On the GECK: It is what it says on the box. Despite all the shortsightedness and duplicity of pre war corporations, this is what is claims to be and is meant to actually help people start over in the new wasteland. It's also from the older days of Fallout writing which had some wild stuff as the series was much more about dark comedy, parody, meta humor/4th wall breaks, and pop culture references. Stuff like the game guide to the game you're actively playing being an in game item and your character commenting on how it would have been a lot more useful if you found it earlier. Knockoff xenomorphs. Straight copying of the Guardian of Eternity from Star Trek TOS so that your character in Fallout 2 can travel to before Fallout 1 and accidentally trigger the events that started the Fallout 1 player character's quest. So a cold fusion powered portable localized terraforming system seems a lot less outlandish in that context compared with New Vegas, 3, 76, and even 4 to a degree. And yes, I said. "a cold fusion powered portable localized terraforming system." It is a contender for not just the zenith of pre-war technology, but for human technology in the series. Period. Edit: it's also going to likely be 1950's style mental help in the Vault, so good luck!
My favorite was Gary's vault. It's one guy named Gary. They keep making more clones of a guy named Gary. they emerge fully formed as a 35 year old Gary. But they've got no knowledge in their brain, so they're like angry infants in a man's body.
If I recall, Vault Tec's original purpose was usurped by the Enclave. Enclave decided not to use the vaults as a survival means and wanted to just use the vaults for experimentation.
If you're doing anything, fallout lore related. There's no better channel than oxhorn. His fallout stuff is generally regarded as the best of the best by many.
I agree. His narration, the script, building the mood and all that is great! However I am not sure how many of his videos are good to react to. He basically show everything inside the Vaults, where to pick up extra ammo, where the hidden magazines are, etc. Full playthroughs, not just the story itself, which means the videos can turn quite long and the story can start to lose pace. I enjoy listening to them even if I have played the games myself, but for someone who is more interested in the Lore and Story than the gameplay I can see how he get bumped down a few notches. Been thinking if I should ask him to make re-cuts of some of his Vault videos, Faction introductions and the smaller questlines (such as the soldier, Randall Clark, who got trapped in the wasteland in FO3 or NV, where he stay hidden and save a bunch of kids and tribespeople). EDIT: Because I suddenly got the urges to listen to Fallout Lore I decided to check Oxhorn's Vault videos. Yeh Vault 11 video is a bit long but it is also greatly narrated. I guess Ken and Bethany can cut their reaction down a bit if the full exploration becomes too much.
If you want an idea on how long the Great War lasted, on October, 2077, it started around 9:47 A.M. Eastern Standard Time, and because both the US and China were launching most, if not all the nukes they had at each other, it lasted roughly two hours. So unless you were smart or lucky enough to get in one of the vaults, you didn't have a lot of time to get into one. It's not known just how bad the rest of the world was hit when the Great War happened, but most just assume that China was hit just as bad, if not worse.
If I may be so bold as to recommend another game loremaster, Tex Talks Battletech is woefully underrepresented in reaction channels. Recommendations for starting would Amaris Civil war part 1 or Battletech 101: Great Houses.
There are some channels that go more in depth with certain quests and locations as well as the creatures and factions one of them is Oxhorn and another is Synonymous there's even a channel that does a what if videos for fallout once you get your fill of the lore channel name is Omeg-initiative
