  • In this episode, Dr. Betters answers the question, "I have always struggled with understanding predestination and hoping you might be able to help me. I mean, if we are predestined and God has already chosen His people then why do I still need to accept Christ as my Savior? Doesn’t He already know who will accept him and who won’t?"

    Thank you for making this video. It hasn’t helped my understanding of predestination, but it has given me peace of heart by reminding me that I should not fall into the trap of applying my understanding of the way things should be, to God. And by reminding me that all the answers are in the Bible. I’m off to Ephesians and Romans to seek an answer from Holy Spirit.

    I want to make a slight correction. When I was quoting scripture at 9:00, I should have said Romans 8-9, not just 8. You will be greatly encouraged by what you find there. May God bless you.

      Dr Betters I too have wrestled with this doctrine. I have listened to Rev John McAuthor along with you. The scripture in particular comes to mind as this subject is discussed that to me blows away this doctrlne, is 2nd Pet 3:9.......its not Gods will that anyone should perish. Listening to you I was hopeful you would address this passage..not trying to be difficult

    DR Betters , thanks for your reply. I am waiting for your upcoming episode. I listened once more to your teaching segment on "Predestinaion". I understand God's sovereignty. Being cautious not to sound as if I am questions God, I still wrestle with this doctrine. To understand and believe that God chose me before ( I was even born) but left out others, leaves me to think I am "one of the elete" so to speak.I do not like to think like that. I was born a sinner just like every other human. I hope you can enlighten me at a later time because at this point' it seems (with my puny brain) that this doctrine is not in keeping with God's character. Once more hopefully I do not sound as if I am questioning God. Thank you my brother for submitting to God and allowing Him to use you as HE does.

    Calvinism confuses many Christians, also. Excellent teaching Dr. Betters. Another issue is baptism. I think you have already covered the difference of water baptism and salvation. Thank you.

    I could not agree more. God knows everything we are going to do, say and think and every feeling before the world was created. That is because he is Sovereign period. There is nothing impossible for God. If we can think it than he can do it and even more. He is awesome. Reverence him and obey him. We need to humble and lower ourselves to God. He is Almighty. This is very simple for me to know and understand God. Ladies and Gentlemen he is GOD and you are nothing without him.

    God knows who will be saved upon hearing/learning the gospels and who will not be saved by rejecting it. This is how his "election" process works, this is how we are "chosen"from before being born.. Choosing to believe or not is not "works", when you believe God gives you the gift of salvation.

    So when people do not believe, they have been predestined to hell? Those that have not been chosen or given faith. Is it not contrary God's love that we need to freely choose to accept Jesus? My problem is when predestination applies to Christ dying only for the chosen few. I still can not wrap my mind around such beliefs.

    • @hghuser
      @hghuser 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      And the gifts he gives non believers as well, just not the faith and ability to make it to heaven, but destined for hell. Is that not contrary to what god wants for us? And Predestining such things seems evil to me.

    • @hghuser
      @hghuser 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Also a point is that God did not love the people that he did not determine to save.. seems bad as well

    In my opinion there's nothing to be "understood" about predestination. One usually accepts it without understanding it, just because God says so. It's like someone will put a gun to your head and ask you to say incoherent things. You'll say it to save your life, no matter how illogical it sounds. That's what religion does, it plays on people's afterlife anxieties, and comes rushing in with an answer.

    The Y if God knew that you were not going to go to heaven when you died why would he allow you to be born only for your soul to go straight to hell? I don’t understand that theory if he knew that you were going to hell at the end of your life that you were not going to except Christ as your Savior and why would he allow you to be born ?

    Dr. Betters, I have enjoyed many of your videos, thank you! However, this video I totally disagree, and defend my standing with Ecclesiasticus 15:21-22 He has commanded no man to do wickedness and he has given no man a license to sin, for he desires not a host of faithless and unprofitable children. It concerns me for new seekers of Christ to hear this and doubt their own salvation from the Lord. That they may not be one of the chosen ones. We all are His chosen ones for he is our Creator. We have a choice to accept his gift or not. Predestined is the fact that He is timeless and all knowing, therefore knew what we would and will do beforehand. And as Joseph's story, what was done in evil intent, God turned it into good.

      If you’re truly living your life sola scriptura you will most certainly humble yourself and conform to what the scripture says if the Word leads you to see scripture more clearly through the Spirit. You can believe one way all your life but if the Spirit shows you differently and it lines up with what the Word says than you would have to change positions wouldn’t you? At least if it is really about what the scripture says you would.

    Does predestination negate free-will? I believe God is outside time so time to Him is not the same as time to us. Why would God allow people to be born only to use them to populate hell? Maybe we are confusing predestination with God’s timelessness and His knowledge outside of His time?

    • @aletheia8054
      @aletheia8054 ปีที่แล้ว

      God doesn’t have to allow anyone to be born and go to hell. So the fact that he allowed it in the first place must mean that he wants it because he sure doesn’t have to allow it to happen.

    Because GOD works in His Immortality and Omniscience.
    GOD already knew who believed when the gospel was preached. GOD already knew before the world existed.
    Those who have been known by GOD, they are called to hear the message of the gospel, and those who believe in the message of the gospel, those who are sealed with the HOLY SPIRIT, and given the Faith of Salvation in JESUS CHRIST.
    Believe in the gospel message then sealed with the HOLY SPIRIT and have the Faith of Salvation in JESUS CHRIST.
    Believe in the gospel message, then repentance occurs. Repentance is what it means to be born of water. Water baptism is a sign of repentance.
    Sealed with the HOLY SPIRIT is being born from the SPIRIT. The human heart is born again, because the HOLY SPIRIT is in the human conscience saved by GOD.

    i have a comment to make about your reading of Eph 2:1 , you claim that the gift is just the "faith" in the verse but you see you are only taking one word from the line and claiming that is the gift, but its not a word it is the whole line that is the gift, by grace we are saved through faith. its the whole line not one word. if it was not for our faith there would be nothing for the Grace to flow through . and no that does not mean that we are saving our selves , faith is nothing if God never made it that it is what saves us , and Paul says that faith is not a work .

    Dr Betters, I completely understand you teaching on predestination, but the scripture that I hang up on is 2 Pet 3: 9 that speaks about it not Gods will that any should perish? Of all the teaching including John Mc Author's he does not explain this passage. Not trying to argue.
