I'm still a young single dude, who's an ambulatory wheelchair user. My parents especially my late mum was the boss of the house lol my dad suffers severe depression but with that comes good days when he's Really wacky. They both had this joke a about how the relationship was one sided, my dad would wind my mum up and then shout it "this bloody relationship is one sided" which was followed by my mum practically teleporting to his location to slap him. Lol Your video really restored some of my spirit especially with how disabled people are being treated at current. Your relationship with shaun reminds me alot of my mum and dad's relationship. That's what was most noticable after she passed away was that piece of fun and the the glue was missing. When shaun called you mistress I nearly choked on my drink, as that's the kind of banter and craic my family would get up to, my brother who's my twin and also suffers witb depression has a giant snorlax pokemon plush, the size of small child or bean bag but fat and my dad would be cleaning the rooms brushing or hoovering and all you hear is "you big blue b#@@!rd" only to find out dad is kicking the crap out the snorlax for no reason at all just cause he's having a good day is on one as we'd say. Thankyou for the great video and for making content in general. You give me something to look forward to watching when I see your video in my sub box and you always bring a nice balance of reality about the way the world is aswell enjoyable optimism. Sending lots of love to you and your family at this hard time. ♥️🙂
Being respectful at all times is necessary to make a wonderfully loving relationship. We never call each other names or say hurtful things, we always lift each other up, never put down. We express our love to each other every day. We think of each other and do something sweet to or for each other at least 3 or 4 times a week. And so much more. I have no idea what people assume about us; I never give it a second thought. I love who we are together, and that's all that matters.
I had been hoping for a video like this for so long! I would love to see a video like this but about your relationship with Daisy and what it was like to be pregnant in a wheelchair and what it's like for Daisy to have you as her mum.
Im actually planning on this for next weeks video. Its more of a Q&A, I think there is a post about it on the community tab, so if you would like to ask us a questions please feel free to leave it there . :)
Love this vlog! So much fun! As a fellow Aussie I must concur with Shaun, Aussies don’t really get into petty conflict. Wow! Daisy has grown up so much. I would say that you are both very well matched. Great relationships begin with great understanding and patience! Xxxxxx
I think another factor is the assumption that the person in the relationship with the disability, cannot contribute to the relationship. When two people communicate effectively with one another whether they have a disability or not, I think that's the best way to focus on meeting each other's needs. The person with the disability can then focus on their abilities to come up with ways to give to their partner.
LOVE D-B's pink hair! 🤘 She's grown up before our eyes. My niece is 12 this year, and I can't believe how she's grown - I just wish I could visit her and her brother. I'm missing all the important things an Uncle should be there for. 😭 On the bright side, I've just had my first Covid-19 vaccination.
Awww time goes too fast. Yes db will be 12 next month!!! Oh that’s so good you have managed to have your first jab. I think I’m something like 30millionth in line!! But we will see. Stay safe
I love your relationship! My bf was with me when I got injured and many people give him so much credit for staying with me... it’s frustrating that they’d assume me becoming disabled would be a dealbreaker for him!
It's a deal breaker for most people. Even love has its limits, people stay because you have always been a good person so it doesn't feel like a chore to be with you. They are prepared to make sacrifices. The opposite is true.
This was so funny 🤣 I love the dynamic you two have, it's so fun and caring! DB is so funny as well; "I'm going to drive down to her" "but you don't have a car!" Also I agree with you Gem, its Scone (rhymes with cone not with gone)
It's amazing how many similarities there are here with my relationship with my partner. "I'm the yes person and you're the no person" puts exactly into words how my boyfriend (in a wheelchair) and I sometimes (humorously) feel about our personalities. In reality there is give-and-take and both parties can at any time evaluate their needs. What I love most about our relationship is that we basically get to make it up as we go, we aren't using anyone else's rules of how relationships should work, but we're always creating our own ideas for it and the key thing there is we leave the possibility to re-evaluate anything we agree to try; "I know we've agreed to try that, but now that I hear the words it doesn't feel so good, let's figure out why and share what we've learned - perhaps we will have a better idea next time"
You guys seem to have such a lovely relationship. Definitely something to aspire to - I think humour is so important and I hope I can find someone who will treat me well but have a laugh too. How did you meet? xx
Your Are So Lucky To Have Shawn & I CanSee That He Loves Doing Thing For You. Also You Need To Try pumpkin Scones The Trick Is You Add Caned Pumpkin Soup To The Mix Before You Add Warter So you Get The Mix Right & They Taste Sooo Good .
I have been married twice, for 21 years and 18 years. Both ended in tears with my wife leaving me. Now single. So I'm not a reliable source of marriage counsel! However, one thing I hate in a relationship is arguments. They can be so hurtful. I am jealous of the way you two care for and about each other. And you are right. Teamwork is so important.
Scones! Gem wins. Also American scones are so different I don’t like them at all. I have to special order to get proper scones. You two remind me a lot of my husband and I. Those breaks from each other are nice now and then. My husband is retired Air Force so we had a lot of time apart so I feel now we appreciate the time we do have together more.
Gem I have been with my wife since I was 18 and I will be 50 this year! And she is a great wife to be married to she is a rock and helps me such a lot we have a daughter and she is 22!
@@Wheelsnoheels I know. But I only started following you recently and I could really use the advice as it's something I think I will have to do at some stage. I really appreciate it. Thank you
It's really cool that you're bringing in the bacon right now Gem. Can you make a video on juggling working full time from home with a disability and still needing to attend to chores and family life?
As far as I'm aware, no-one makes assumptions about me and my husband. I'm a part time wheelchair user and it's more assumptions about me and my brother (He's my official carer because my husband works full time) and it's that's my brother is my partner or my children's dad. Me and my husband don't have any rules as such, but we both have a disability affecting different aspects of our lives. (Mine is my mobility and his is hydrocephalus and his brain) but one thing we don't do, is care that the other has a disability or let it get in our way of living life to the full together. We both love each other simply because love each other and we both just happen to have a disability. As far as we're concerned we're normal people who have to adapt certain things slightly and that's it.
@@Wheelsnoheels Exactly x We're normal people who have to do somethings a bit different. And anyway I live by the saying 'Those that care, don't matter and those that matter, don't care.'

My grandma is in a wheelchair and she told me that she doesn't want to live anymore. That's when I decided that i will do everything to make her life as beautiful as possible and travel with her around the world. Follow us on our journey ♥️
I recently started to use a wheelchair for longer trips out of the house because of my loose ligaments and fatigue, but my partner is worried and I don't know how to help them cope to this new development in my disability and wanted to know if you have any tips for helping loved ones cope and understand
