    Nice to see guys your age that actually do their own wrenching. I assembled a forged Coyote short block solo last spring after I sent a rod through the side of the block. The first engine I have built in 30 years, it came out pretty good. I'm keeping an eye out at the track for your GT500.

    The upgrade to a belt tensioner on the ac. side is available. I just installed one on my BOSS 302. The way I ended up doing the up grade was, the alt. w/p side tensioner bolt frekin broke. It was an easy fix,. I used a reverse drill and it turned out. So I saw the upgrade while looking for a bolt and it was on. A stretch belt, something out of history!!!

    I'd love to have an 11-12 GT with a gen II Coyote with the Ford power pack 3. 6-Speed manual of course. That's all I'd ever need.

    You can use gen 2 heads and cams on built gen 1 shortblock, and still use gen 1 engine mngmt system. You have to limit cam phasers or turn em off i believe. Plus you need different head gasket.

    Why waste money on a Gen 2 shortblock. For a few more dollars you can forge a Gen 1 with manley rods, and Mahle pistons, gen 2 heads and cams, and make 900wheel for 150k miles Gen 2 shortblock still has crap cast pistons. Dont forget to limit cam phasers.

    • @karlhopkins713
      @karlhopkins713 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      The cobra has a built motor minus cams, that block has way more potential vs a coyote, they're also more reliable, cheaper to mod, sound way better, and are a lot if fun. If it's the teskid block, that block is capable of over 3k hp. Look up the fastest stock block 4.6. It's a teskid 4.6 4v, that ran a 5.88 in the 1/4. He was on the stock 99 cobra block, stock ford gt head's, stock terminator crank, and stock timing chain's.
