I have my ram and cpu installed already, do you know if I have to take them out to flash bios, or should it be fine. Im running 5600x/Aorus Elite wifi x570
Hi! I'm a noob at anything pc here but trying to learn. My current build is using a 3700x and I want to upgrade to the 5800x. Will I need to remove everything from the motherboard to do this bios update for the 5800x? Just looking for clarification. Thanks for your vid!
This was the last video of yours I watched so I figure I'll comment -- you are the only person who's videos helped me build my computer. I was stuck trying to flash my bios for my ryzen 5800x but nothing worked. I had no idea I didn't need the entire folder, just the file. After following your steps to a T the orange light finally started posting and the flash is now working. You may not even read this, but your guides are incredible. Thank you sir.
Great video :D For anyone having trouble with the q-flash button on the board itself, if you happen to be using an external drive make sure to specifically only format a small(i used 8gbs) sized partition as exfat/fat32 instead of formatting the entire capacity of the drive. The q-flash button wouldn't work for me until I limited the fat32 partition size to 8gb on my 1tb external drive as opposed to formatting the whole 1tb as fat32. Fixed the issue and the q-flash button then worked like a charm. Hope this helps anyone running into the same issue! gl out there gamers
I'm using a 64G thumb drive, used rufus to format it to FAT32, and copied the gigabyte.bin file to it, but I still can't get a flashing light from the q-flash button. Any ideas on where I may have gone wrong?
@@FifthPinned Only thing I can recommend is formatting only an 8,000 MB partition as FAT32 and using that partition to store the gigabyte.bin file. That's the only thing that got it to work for me :/
This video saved me hundreds of dollars yesterday. I got a new cpu, power supply and grahics card and nothing worked. I sat on the ground for hours, trying to get my pc to run. I was about to buy a new mainboard since it would not boot anymore, and maybe even cpu., All I had to do was flashing my bios. THANK YOU!
Exactly what I needed. I just bought this same CPU and motherboard and then I saw that it may need a BIOS update. Thanks for the great step by step instructions on how to do this.
Thank you! I should have looked this up before installing my new 5950X last night, only to have to put the old CPU back in since it didn't even post. After initial panic and checking that I hadn't bent any pins I soon realized that I probably needed to upgrade the BIOS first, and this video gave the perfect instructions for it. *edit:* I forgot to mention, at 5:51 it says "I haven't installed the CPU or the RAM […] you can do it with it installed or not installed", but the manual says "Q-Flash Plus will update the main BIOS only if run *without the CPU* installed." (mb_manual_x570-features.pdf, page 6).

Massively helpful as I just bought the gigabyte z490 that supports 10th and 11th gen Intel but requires a bios update. This is the only part that makes me nervous on this build
@@NorthernVikingEveryday I do have a question though. It looks like the support for 11th gen was a couple updates prior. Should I update to the most recent or just the one that has support for it? Or is that all in the newest update?
@@NorthernVikingEveryday I just wanted to pop in and say thank you for your video and responses. Built my PC yesterday and it worked swimmingly. Thanks again man
If your light does not work, my fix was that my flash drive was far too large(128gb). I used an old smaller one (couldn’t have been more than 32gb-64gb) and worked fine. It also took a few seconds to start doing anything, so don’t be alarmed if it isn’t instant.
I flashed my bios from v11 to v35, for some reason on reboot it was bsod trying to pull a windows file from G: drive. So if this happens restart, jump into bios and set your boot options right to the drive that has your windows installed on it. Good luck
Hi, I just wanted to know can I use this way for my X570 auros motherboard with all the components installed, I have the CPU, ram, CPU cooler, and m.2 installed. The led did lit up when I press the button and it did turn off after 3mins but the fans and the RGB on my ram still and the fans on my Psu didn't turn off. Should I wait 30 mins then turn off everything?.
I am now ready for MW2 =) My 3080FE is already installed my X570, as of now I'm running my 3700x and it's running amazing on 1440p for all my titles. My 5600X just came in and I got it for a steal on Amazon. $88.35 because I had a $100.00 coupon that I didn't know about lol So I'll stay gaming and just wait for MW2 to come out, when I see the need to try and push more FPS I'll bio update and slap my new chip in. Thanks for the video, didn't realize how easy it is to update bios on this MOBO. Supper happy I bought this one back in late 2020.
I downloaded the newest edition like you said the f36e now, placed the usb into the bios flash back slot and press the button but no light goes on. Do you know why this would occur
I pushed the button and nothing happened except for the usb flashing. Does that mean it worked? Also when I turned the power supply on the motherboard lit up for half a second then turned off. Is this normal?
Nevermind that I figured out my problem! I downloaded the bios update for the gigabyte wifi board and I actually have the non wifi version😂. Oops oh well I got the right bios update and non it worked. But one last thing. The fan continued spinning after the light went off. I gave it like 10 min but it kept spinning. I ended up just shutting it down after that. You think it still worked?
Thank you so much for this tutorial. I installed the F36e version of the BIOS on my motherboard and i am facing a lot of issues with it. For example, in the bios screen it shows that my secure boot is enabled but when i log into windows and check system info, it shows secure boot off. because of this, i cant play certain games. after watching your video, i am planning to qlash and update the bios to F37 and see if that works out the issue or not. i would be very grateful if you have any insights on this. thank you once again for a great video. :)
Thank you for being so detailed. My x570 is also version 1.1 which made me hesitate to flash the board thinking that the newest bios version was for version 1.0 boards. unboxing mine, it had f30 bios. im running 5600x. Updating bios gave resizable bar. I was having issues connecting PCIE risers for more than 2 cards. Im not sure if the bios helped or if it was that I changed the bifurification to 4x4.
Great video, thanks. I'm a little put off by Gigabyte's own warning on their website ... "Warning: Because BIOS flashing is potentially risky, if you do not encounter problems using the current version of BIOS, it is recommended that you not flash the BIOS. How do we know whether our BIOS even needs an update?
That is a good question, I'm not sure if they list which update the motherboard ships with. When I bought this motherboard I needed to update the bios so that it would work with my Ryzen 7 5800x.
This video is going to be a lifesaver, ok maybe that's over dramatic. But, I do have a question before I try. Can I leave everything plugged in as is, or should I remove anything?
Thank you for the help! I had one question: if I have the 5600X, should I stick with the F30 or just get the lastest BIOS version like you did? Will it be incompatible with the 5600X?
Hello! Liked your vid. I'm doing a new install with this board. When I try to use Qflash, my usb will flash for a little bit, then stop. The light for Qflash will never come on. When I flip the power on my PSU the lights on the board will flicker, then turn off. I'm also unable to jump start the board. Do you have any advice? I've opened a ticket with Gigabyte, but of course I've yet to hear back from anyone. Thanks in advance. You've earned a sub.
I would double check to make sure your power supply is connected to the motherboard securely. Other than that I would say a ticket with gigabyte would probably be your best bet. I'm sorry to hear that you're having problems. If you are able to figure it out let us know here in the comments.
@@NorthernVikingEveryday Putting this out there for anyone that was having trouble like me. I removed the cpu and ram, grabbed yet another USB drive (did a full format to fat32) & used the F32 bios version. For some reason or another this finally was able to be Qflashed. Afterwards I installed my ryzen 7 5800x, my Ram, a crappy gpu & viola! I can post now. I was able to jump this board using a screwdriver touching pins 3&4 (from the top left) I hope this can help anyone that was struggling with this board as much as I was. Cheers.
I also have the same problem, i think its just windows 10 in general. I have 5 thumbdrives that are 2.0 and 3.0 and i've read that 2.0 are more effective. I downloaded and created the files and used the same exact steps but the q-flash is not working so i constantly format the flash drives in a windows 10 computer. Then, after hours of work, i tried to use my Macbook for the gigabyte.bin file, put it in the MOBO and now its working! I was honestly a little close to go back to Canada Computers and let them do it LMAO.
It has been impossible for me to update this motherboard beyond the F30 version, it gives me an error that says "bios ID check error" I have tried it from the windows with the gigabyte applications and from the same bios and nothing, could you help me?
@@chrispertab I was able to solve it, I installed the first version that the motherboard comes from the factory and then I was gradually updating, of course with the usb in fat32.
Make sure the format on your USB flash drive is FAT32. If the flash drive is over 32gb, you can't format it to FAT32. Use a smaller drive. The file is only 16MB or so.
I have the same setup but I had a hell of a time Q flashing. The board did not want to read any of the flash drives I tried. I thought I was going to have to RMA it. Got the F30 bios to finally work, then it immediately crashed after I tried installing Ryzen Master. Gave me the BSOD, shut down then wouldn't boot. Powered it off and on a few times then got the message that my bios was corrupt and booting from the back up. I should have the latest bios right now, but after that ordeal I am paranoid of bricking the board. Still have not tried reinstalling Ryzen Master. Wanted Ryzen master so I could tune my fan speeds as this chip runs hot.
I did this exactly with a new Gigabyte x570s Elite AX, used the right version from the website and now the power button does nothing on the PC. Before flashing the bios when we had everything plugged in and the pc powered up but wouldnt send anything to the screen, but flashing the bios has made it so nothing happens at all with the power button. Reflashed it with just the motherboard after disconnecting everything and same result after reconnecting the cpu and plugging everything back in.
I have a very similar problem, computer doesn't boot up after shutdown. everything powers on, but no signal to screen. Checked everything from ram to PSU. Removed the cpu and reinstalled it, it booted up, but now Iam too afraid to shut it down again to update BIOS lol. Did you have any luck with your problem?
@desolator108 my problem ended up being having a PSU that wasn't powerful enough. Flashing the BIOS isn't necessary anymore with these motherboards for most CPUs
Great video man I just got a question. Since I have a zen 2 CPU and I'm getting the CPU you are using in the video can I update/flash with my old CPU, ram and GPU (that I'm not changing) in the motherboard or do I HAVE to remove them in order to update/flash the mobo.
I'm no pro, but I'm pretty sure you don't have to remove them. The more updated BIOS I believe just adds *additional support. Someone can correct me if I'm wrong.
I have one question if my flash drive is 64GB and it says it’s exfat default but I do some coding and it changed the property to FAT 32 will that still work for the bios update?
Hello, so ive been trying to flash my X570 but i get no blinking light whats so ever. Ive also have had nothing but issues with windows on this mother board. any ideas?

Thank you so Much NVE! Simple yet effective how-to guide.
You're welcome 👍
I noticed at 06:44 your x570 Aorus Elite WIFI board says "rev.1.1" on the bottom left corner of the board? My x570 Aorus Elite wifi doesn't. Mine says "rev.1.0" on the board. And yet, on Gigabyte's website they list the WIFI board as rev.1.x and the non-WIFI board as rev.1.0
Massively helpful as I just bought the gigabyte z490 that supports 10th and 11th gen Intel but requires a bios update. This is the only part that makes me nervous on this build
Awesome 👍 Glad I could help.
@@NorthernVikingEveryday I do have a question though. It looks like the support for 11th gen was a couple updates prior. Should I update to the most recent or just the one that has support for it? Or is that all in the newest update?
For myself personally I would choose the newest update but it's up to you.
@@NorthernVikingEveryday thank you so much for your time and quick response. I will go with the newest.
@@NorthernVikingEveryday I just wanted to pop in and say thank you for your video and responses. Built my PC yesterday and it worked swimmingly. Thanks again man
Thank you sir! I forgot to update my bios before my CPU upgrade
Glad I could help 😃👍
Duuuuuude , thank you for this video . Its not easy to be a noob . It was so easy to understand and do while watching it .
Awesome 👍 Glad I could help.
If your light does not work, my fix was that my flash drive was far too large(128gb). I used an old smaller one (couldn’t have been more than 32gb-64gb) and worked fine. It also took a few seconds to start doing anything, so don’t be alarmed if it isn’t instant.
oh mine is 32 gigs ish but it still isn’t flashing 😢
Mine is flashing, but it still didn't boot after installation. I have a 20GB fat32
I'm building my first ever PC,
Thank you so much for these videos! They're so helpful!!!
You're welcome 👍 Glad I could help.
I flashed my bios from v11 to v35, for some reason on reboot it was bsod trying to pull a windows file from G: drive. So if this happens restart, jump into bios and set your boot options right to the drive that has your windows installed on it. Good luck
Thank you so much, I recently ordered a 5900X, this will help me out a ton
You're welcome 👍
@@NorthernVikingEveryday Ok so it turns out you can update the BIOS through itself, I figured this out because the actual button did not work for me.
Hi, I just wanted to know can I use this way for my X570 auros motherboard with all the components installed,
I have the CPU, ram, CPU cooler, and m.2 installed.
The led did lit up when I press the button and it did turn off after 3mins but the fans and the RGB on my ram still and the fans on my Psu didn't turn off. Should I wait 30 mins then turn off everything?.
Wondering the same 😢
@@dlalleman3874 what did y'all end up doing?
I upgraded with no problems thank you very much my friend
No problem 👍
Renaming it bin fixed my problems. I did it through the app center though. Thank you!
You're welcome 👍
Just upgraded my cpu to this will help when I get off work
Perfect 👍
@NorthernVikingEveryday so do I need to turn on my pc or just have my power supply plugged in and on?
I am now ready for MW2 =)
My 3080FE is already installed my X570, as of now I'm running my 3700x and it's running amazing on 1440p for all my titles.
My 5600X just came in and I got it for a steal on Amazon. $88.35 because I had a $100.00 coupon that I didn't know about lol
So I'll stay gaming and just wait for MW2 to come out, when I see the need to try and push more FPS I'll bio update and slap my new chip in.
Thanks for the video, didn't realize how easy it is to update bios on this MOBO. Supper happy I bought this one back in late 2020.
Awesome 👍 Thanks for watching.
Thank you so much for a clean and well segmented tutorial, very well demonstrated and explained!
Awesome 👍 thank you for the kind words and support.
Thanks this worked out great. Saved my friends pc with this.
Awesome 👍 Glad I could help.
@@NorthernVikingEveryday 🐐🐐🐐
Helped me fix my X570! Thank you very much!!
You're welcome 👍
Just a quick Q before I proceed. What is the reason behind changing the file extension to .bin?
I'm not sure what the official reason would be but that's what it says to do on the gigabyte website.
super simple guide. Wish they were all like this. Subbed
Awesome 👍 Thanks!
Fantastic video. Straight to the point. Easy instructions. Thank you sir!!!
You're very welcome 👍
Great video straight to the point! I have the same processor and motherboard minus the WiFi. I’ll give this a try tomorrow. Thank you!
You're welcome 😃👍
Awesome video though but I don’t even know if I should turn on the computer or not for the light to start flashing
Thanks mate for this amazing video it was really helpful for me, my regards from UK 👍
You're very welcome from Canada 🇨🇦
Try and use the MBR partition instead of GUID. most videos show GUID as the correct format when MBR worked for me
I downloaded the newest edition like you said the f36e now, placed the usb into the bios flash back slot and press the button but no light goes on. Do you know why this would occur
I'm doing that right now and am having that problem did you fix it?
Down grade
I'm assuming this also works with the non wifi version? Anyways, beautiful tutorial, so easy to follow!
Dude thank you so much, I needed to learn how to q-flash anyway, so why not try it with my computer, I did buy a r7 5700x and had to flash
Awesome 👍 Glad I could help.
Bro, did you install to F37?
Way better then the manufactures crap youtube link, thank you.
You're very welcome! Glad I could help.
Can you do a flashback with the old cpu in it. I’ve got a 3900x in the x570 elite. Wanting to go with the 5900x
You're welcome 👍 Thanks for watching.
I feel comfortable doing this now after watching this video.
But just to confirm, I can do this with the CPU and Ram plugged into the MB?
You can double check on the gigabyte website but usually it's best to go with the most recent version.
Cheers.
Thanks for the update! Glad you figured it out. 👍
@@NorthernVikingEveryday It's a good board. Would make more sense if they included a cheap thumb drive or something to help eliminate the confusion.
I’ve followed everything you said but my LED to show it is downloading doesn’t light up. What could be a possible issue?
It has been impossible for me to update this motherboard beyond the F30 version, it gives me an error that says "bios ID check error" I have tried it from the windows with the gigabyte applications and from the same bios and nothing, could you help me?
Same here no clue what to do
@@chrispertab I was able to solve it, I installed the first version that the motherboard comes from the factory and then I was gradually updating, of course with the usb in fat32.
And if i did everything exactly right and I did not get the light to on the motherboard to flash? 😢
Make sure the format on your USB flash drive is FAT32. If the flash drive is over 32gb, you can't format it to FAT32. Use a smaller drive. The file is only 16MB or so.
Bro you may have just saved my computer.
Glad I could help 😃
@desolator108 check RAM maybe to. Try booting with one stick and also different ram
thanks, but I tried those already. Also installed a bigger PSU. Didn't help, well back to troubleshooting. @@bhackaa
Thanks for this, man. Really helpful walk-through.
You're welcome 😃👍
I have one question if my flash drive is 64GB and it says it’s exfat default but I do some coding and it changed the property to FAT 32 will that still work for the bios update?
Wow, thank you so much for this perfect and easy to follow video!
You're very welcome 👍
Hey if i have a 16gb usb sandisk who creates one sandisk file in the usb storage can i install with it in q flash
Great video! Quick question. After using a USB to flash the bios, will the USB be usable after that for general storage purposes?
Yes, you can just delete all the files off of it after you're done.
wow thanks for this tutorial but i have a question do you need 1 working computer to download the files and another computer to upgrade bios?
Yes, you will need to get the download from another computer
Thank you so much. Great step by step instructions for every step of the process and made the whole endeavor very easy. Great video!!
Awesome 👍 Glad I could help.
Hello, so ive been trying to flash my X570 but i get no blinking light whats so ever. Ive also have had nothing but issues with windows on this mother board. any ideas?
Hi!! is it ok to update the bios with, ssd, cu and ram inserted on the motherboard? or will it malfunction instead?
Hey, absolute computer newbie here. Can you flash the motherboard with the all of the parts in?
Is it okay to flash the bios without removing the gpu ram and other connections?
Thanks alot bro finallly ordered all the parts. Appreciate it.
No problem 👍
Sorry is this ok for an am4 motherboard that I haven't upgraded to the 5000 series?
Can the thumb drive be a exFAT? There is no FAT32 option on my USB drive when formatting
Hey I have a question on the motherboard it’s self do you know where the connector for the case fans are

Do i need to unplug all other cords to the board? Trying to do this without undoing everything

Didn’t he say that it didn’t matter whether CPU (and I assume other components as well) was installed or not?
For all other updates, do you name it Gigabyte.Bin as well? Or do you put other names for them?
