I was impressed how they never interrupted each other, but let the other finish their sentence and thought. That is called emotional security and mutual respect. I don't see enough of that these days.
There is some research on how people interrupt each other, sometimes when one person is a (or two) aggressive conversationalist they will interrupt the other when they are in agreement, non aggressive ones will let the other finish, most people are in between. Most of the time it’s not meant to be a disrespectful gesture.
One of my biggest pet peeve's....interruptions from narcissistic selfish people that honestly should know better...its good to be involved in conversations with intelligent caring and knowledgeable people
@@ShawnRyanShow Do you even know how rare it is, to watch an interview in the digital era, where the person asking questions is not making the entire fucking interview about themselves? Because of the way you did this, I actually got to learn a lot about Mike Glover.
Supreme254 you know, these guys really hit home with this, even though we already hear about the after effects, and all that are. But what really sunk in, is be prepared to give a huge part of yourself (thats what she said) if you go down that route. Btw get your mind out of the gutter.
Hey Shawn I'm just a 52 year-old truck driver out here in Australia, just grinding away, no military experience or anything, but watching your content on You tube has been really inspiring, not to mention super entertaining. There's nothing like this on T.V or anything , so Thank You to you and your team for doing what you do. Thanks for your service man. Cheers from Australia "mate". 👍
My unit worked with your Australian SAS in Tarin Kowt Afghanistan during spring/summer 2006 in Chora valley. Very professional and honorable warriors. Cheers from the United States! 🙂
I went to SOTIC with Mike. He's an absolutely humble and amazing operator. He really stepped up during SOTIC and put his ability to graduate on the line to help a fellow operator graduate the course. He's a very stand-up guy. The man you see here is 100% genuine. I'm so thankful for having the chance to have met and trained with him.
Hell we were all poor! Beyond 1965 we were just plain spoiled! Everything became free but it cost us everything! Now we are locked up in a freedom that leaves us with one question. What has value!
I love Mike Glover, DJ Shipley, and all these tier 1 (and 2) guys, I have my regrets not following my gut. But they're almost always the most humble dudes ever.
This video helped me out a lot. I hate to admit it, and I don’t give a shit what anyone thinks. But I was one of those “wannabe tacticool” guys Mike was talking about. I’m a veteran, and I did deploy. But I was a damn fobbit, and I had a failed military career. It’s weird, so many veterans think of themselves as low because they didn’t accomplish things like these two men accomplished. Watching this video gave me more confidence to just be who I am, and not someone else. I’ve always been my biggest critic, and so I can admit hard truths to myself that can pace the way for better changes. I’m not a top tier tactical leader, and I’ll never be. But I’m top tier in other things. I’m just a man who loves Christ, and has a passion for guns, and learning new things. This video helped me refocus... so thank you! 🇺🇸🤙🏻
The Tactical Church This is the best comment I’ve read. Just do you brother, if you can do that, your stronger than most all the human population. Everyone is trying to bullshit someone else into being something they are not. Hope you had a good Christmas.
I have a friend who graduated top of his Green Beret class back during Vietnam, just after that he was set home because of a family issue and was discharged....he laments about his "not being deployed". I served with a bunch of MAC-SOG guys at the end of their careers in the early 1980's. Many too scarred and riddled to be active duty anymore (G-men) , the rest were still enlisted. All were great guys but carried a burden. I explain to my friend his distinct blessing of having not gone.....he gets it, but still laments. It is a shame that as great as our servicemen/women train, we lack the "post experience" expertise to help them. It is great for ALL men to talk through these issues. ....from a former E-5 "REMF".....greatful to have the intellect to recognise those issues as a young guy exposed to the community. We are all on a journey to come to terms with our own unique experience in the matrix ....
You had the balls to enlist and the balls to say you were a failure. I dont know you but I highly doubt you are a failure. Thanks for your service man and keep your head up!
The Tactical Church best comment. I was in enlisted in the Air Force Security police deployed to Iraq and also trained with the Army. My career was not anything super special either and I got down on myself for it at first too. But you had the stones to actually enlist, deploy and never made excuses. Not many people can say that either and you still served your country which is more than what 99% of people can ever say brother! 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
74D CBRN here. 2 deployments to Iraq and I felt the same way for a lot of years, I know how you feel but like our brothers have already stated you volunteered and stepped forward. I was appalled to learn that less than 1% of our generation stepped up after 911...should've been an Army 20 million strong...be Proud, humble and confident in the knowledge that you did not waist your opportunity and privilege to serve. Love and respect Always.
Listening to former SF helps me understand my Father. He was SF for 22 years and 4 years as a Ranger. I wish he would talk more about his Military Service. Yesterday, at 79 years old he told me he was a Lone Survivor of a Mission. My blood went cold. And a lack of awareness of PTSD in his days was such a tragedy for so many Families of SF and other Military members. Being the daughter of someone who had severe PTSD and hearing your stories helps me find peace and forgiveness for my Father. Thank you!!! 🙏
Similar situation with my step grandfather in Vietnam he and like 2/3 others where the only ones to survive out of entire platoon. 😢 The nightmares they lived in real life is unimaginable 😢.
Fucking legendary. My freedom boner is so hard right now from the freedom being exuded through these guys sweat glands just as they sit here chill talking amongst each other.
@@CALISUPERSPORT Yeah, when he refers to 'The Unit' he's referring to Delta. Also, I've heard him talk more directly about it in other podcasts, like Cleared Hot and Mike Ritland's podcast.
As a Former Marine I can tell you that Mr. Glover is the embodiment of knowing yourself and seeking self improvement. To all the young people who might be watching this take note… You can do ANYTHING if you put all you have into it. Don’t ever quit and push yourself to another level. There were many times that an inner voice tried to tell me to quit and I ignored it and got to the next level.
I want to join the army at 25 2025. I got clean off drugs in 2020. I’ve been working a honest job for 2 years. I want to get my physical shape up. I’ve been talking to the same recruiter I know for 6 months and he’s all for my plan of attack. Anything I should know going in late at 25 years old? I want to be a mortar man I’m 6ft 1 and 190 pounds trying to lock in at 180
My late father was a retired Army Captain, served in the Old Guard and was a Ranger school graduate. Speaking with him over the years I know what was required of him to fill those roles in the military, so my hat is off to Secial Forces Operators covering the Army, Navy and Marines. You are special people and the focus on your accomplishments is tempered for me by learning the personal and psychological sacrifices you make to serve your country and protect it's citizens, often citizens opposed to your very existence. God Bless All Of You!!
These are the men that people need to pay attention to. Humble. Filled with knowledge. Passionate. Loving. Funny. These dudes are the type that hold countries together. That build toughness in people without knowing they're doing so. They have an unbreakable character. Been following Shawn since he started this TH-cam thing and I'm always impressed. It's never enough. Fucking keep it going brothers. 🤘🤙
@@ShawnRyanShow of course brother. You've helped me feel a lot less alone. I'm a former NY fireman and medic of 11 years. I got injured and medically separated about 3 years ago and your story of separating from your life and the depression and lack of purpose you felt. That shit has never been described as accurately as I've felt it. I almost dropped out of this shit myself man and it's just atleast good to know that I'm not crazy for missing my brothers and the job. Either way fucking glad you made it through man. You help more people than you know brother. 🤘
Love these Men. Mr. Glover has a calming affect since I lost my oldest, a Marine. I was in the Air Force, 462 munition. These Men become my Sons. God Bless.
I can’t believe it took me three years to find this amazing channel. I love what you are doing and thank you for giving the vets a chance to use their voices Shawn.
wow it seems every time I tune in VigilanceElite I learn something new about Shawn. Next I'll learn how in the Baghdadi raid it wasn't a German Shepard that cornered him, but a phone attached to the German Shepard playing a video of Shawn Ryan getting it.
Shawn uploads a 2-1/2 hour interview even though Mike said in one of his own vlogs that the average attention span is only 4 minutes. Well Mike, sometimes ya just gotta be wrong. I could have watched this for another 2-1/2 hours. This was so good.
Most ppl don’t watch a 2 hour interview pertaining to anything. You forget he said *average* and it’s a fact and even more nowadays that most ppl have a short attention span.
But if the prey shops at Walmart....you're fucked. Pretty ignorant statements on "tactical civilians" Civilians have to try to balance both on their own dollar. They don't have multi million dollar budgets backing them. Most don't want military employment but want to protect American values. They get no cred from Mikey. Just condemnation. Ouch
As a kid I was looking up to men like you guys. Military documents and training. I was told I was dumb for wanting to join, “ what you want to join and die” I was told and had people try to steer me off track saying that the economy wasn’t going towards that route. Being a product of war they didn’t have a keen understanding of pain of having people die for the war. I was compared to the civil war but one thing different was they didn’t understand my language being part Asian and American. They fight for their people and I saw it as I was fight for two nations. A lot those compares is still happing till this day. Thanks for this series.
When they got into Bengazi I had to take a break that shit got real very powerful moment. Shawn Mike if you guys see this thanks for letting us sit in on this one . Most of all thank both of you for serving !!!
I know this is two years late but I feel like I have to say it. I have wanted to be a SF guy in the Army since I was probably 3 and next year I’m going to a prep school then West Point and after seeing this it’s made me realize THIS is what I want to do and nothing is going to stop me.
dont be an asshole to locals in west point, they will kick the shit out of you. source watched friend beat the shit out of 6 west point cadets actin a fool.
I’ve been a Firefighter for 22 years and I cringe when someone calls me a hero because I know their are men out there like these two men that have given or will have their lives so me and my family could live the life we live. Thank you to these Bad asses !
I would imagine that it takes balls the size of watermelons and a heaping serving of courage to go into a burning structure and pull people out. You sir, are absolutely a hero!
LOVE, respect, honor and support for our first responders. The civilian firefighters that were with us in Iraq on my FOB were tip of the spear and very valuable. I'll never forget when I saw the fire department on FOB Marez for the first time. I'm the one with a rifle but it made me feel safe knowing that they were with us...
What I love about this is that Mike is so humble about his achievements and resume... He got to the top of the top in military terms, and he did it by doing everything he could do. When people were drinking, he was rucking. When a door opened, he went through. And he gave 100% in everything he did. That's the lesson here. If you want something, go and get it. Just be prepared to work harder and longer than everyone else. Also, I wouldn't like to knock over his drink in a pub. Dude must be hard as a coffin nail.
Hey Brothers. Thank you so much for this episode. As I watched close to the 2 hour mark, you both mentioned about going through depression and wanted to end it all. My military time was never even close to being on a par with either of you. 71L in Army Reserves, but I lost it all in my civillian career. After 31 years, I was layed off and was going through a divorce at the same time. I too looked for an exit plan. I was sitting in my truck and rehearsing what I would do when my middle daughter txted me. She just told me she loved me. That was all I needed. Glad that you are both still here and able to share your life experiences. Look forward to seeing more of both Vigilance Elite and Fieldcraft Survival.
You're here, you made the right choice, and continue to do so, as I have been there myself after I finished my last contract, I remember all I've endured and remind myself this isnt the end and there is better in store
Powerful! When mike was explaining the transition! Every combat veteran I've spent time speaking with, the story sounds similar. What I did is nothing compared to mike, although after I came home, I felt I had no value. From running around Iraq with almost no support and just 5 other guys in an LRS team trying to stop the roadside IEDs to coming back and trying and be normal and or reintegrate into society, normalcy is almost impossible; the transition is a war in itself. Everything he said, the drinking, thoughts of suicide, whew, gave me chills and made me cry. After drinking drugs and multiple marriages, I'm glad to be on the other side and now working on my master's of clinical psychology, hoping to give back to those who served. To you, Shawn, don't ever stop doing this; your show is necessary, and you are making a difference and impacting many lives.
I've been going around watching and listening to all the different podcasts Mike has gone on, I'm realizing that all of these high level elite tier 1 soldiers look up to and admire him. To walk among the greatest and still stand out. The leader of alphas.
I'm not military, at 48 years old I have regrets and one of them is not following my heart back in the day and enlisting. Life has its ways I guess, I watched this entire interview and then proceeded to watch others, most people I know wouldn't stay interested for 5 minutes, I need a new circle maybe? Much respect for these guys. Keep on keepin on folks. God Bless.
I was a college student when 9/11 happened and I seriously considered enlisting. Ultimately decided to stay in college due to family pressure and I've often wished I went with my heart instead.
It's great seeing Mike doing so well; I was fortunate enough to meet him in Libya as a Canadian soldier and he volunteered his free time to give us some training! Thank you Mike for your service and sacrifices, a true hero and inspiration!
PTSD is a crappy thing to try and befriend. Punch a hole through the wall, kick us across the room etc.. In order to understand , to give back, I decided to enlist. My Marine, he's gone. Props to you for signing up and giving everything, and for continuing the fight, training, awareness, etc. I'm in this for the rest of my life.
Sorry for my ignorance but what are you talking about punching holes in walls and kicking people across the room? Lol it just seemed pretty random.. and you say your marine is gone.. if you lost someone I'm sorry.. doesn't mean you won't ever see them again one day though
@@joeyphillips1181 If you listen to the show, they address PTSD. I addressed it via my experience with the above. I lost my Marine stateside at the will of his own hands.
The Shawn Ryan Show #1 is a brilliant start to your interviews. Thank you for bringing Mike Glover into our lives. And Shawn, you are an excellent interviewer.
Merry Christmas to all of you guys. Let’s give Shawn Ryan all of the support, and admiration that his service has earned from us. God bless you, and yours, and may your 2020 be better than 2019.
Who would have thought that by the grace of God your podcast would be in the #4 spot out of over 8 million podcasts! Amazing work Shawn, God bless you.
This is hands down one of the best podcasts I've ever heard. Keep this up, you're on to something really good with getting good candid conversations on a subject matter that most people can't. I'm subscribed and all that jazz. It would be awesome to hear Ray Davis tell the Lahore story in this format.
Listening to these two gentlemen talk reminds me of when I served in the 2nd Battalion, 5th Salvation Army bell ringers regiment. Thats the extent of my service. All jokes aside. Two American heroes right here. God bless them and all those that protect and defend our country in uniform.
I've been watching Field Craft Survival for a while now. Mike is VERY humble. As long as i've been watching he hasn't revealed this much about his military career as he did here. It's a damn shame what our government has done to him. How he's been treated as of late, is utterly disgraceful.
As an old Marine myself, I can relate to getting out of the military and transitioning to the civilian sector. You go from being the tip of the spear to the butt of the joke... You go from the top to nothing. No purpose or direction, just empty and lost... Idle hands find the devil's work... Keeping busy and serving others, in my own opinion, is the best way to assimilate to being normal again... Thank you Shawn and Mike for your service and your guidance... God Bless and Howdy from Texas 🤠
The graphics looks like an MMA match between a NAVY Seal and a Green Beret. Can't wait for this one! Probably the best podcast I'd be listening to before the year ends. Thanks guys!
I have a good friend that was Marine Recon and he always speaks highly of SF. He is a firm believer that a war fighter is much more than a trigger presser.
Thanks for your show Shawn. This episode with Mike Glover made such a strong impression I watched it twice. I am a civilian without any military experience, but there are a lot of us out there that respect and care about you guys a lot. A lifelong friend of mine, a social worker, had joined the National Guard and volunteered to go to Iraq to counsel our soldiers. Jim was stationed at Camp Liberty. He survived John Russel's psychic break only because he was on a rare break to get about 4 hours of sleep which was normal. After Jim returned to the U.S., he dissolved his practice to work exclusively at the VA hospital in Indianapolis. What he witnessed our soldiers cope with in Iraq had changed him. We lost Jim last year to a form of cancer so rare that numerous doctors refused to believe he had it. I'm convinced he got that cancer from his exposure to the burn pits. The section where you guys discuss the difficulty of the transition and typical lack of adequate VA support for our vets hit hard. What you are doing with this show is really important.
This was absolutely one of the best interviews I’ve come across on here. I hadn’t heard of Mike before this and I’m so glad to know about him now. The conversation was real at all times and you both are extremely humble and have a lot of stories many of us want to hear. Thank you both for all you’ve done for this country. Hearing these stories brings us civilians a glimpse of the life we will never know. I’m a retired LE guy and hearing what you guys go through really humbles my opinion of the shit I did. It’s interesting hearing about what you guys go through when you get out, on a different level I can absolutely relate. Thank you for doing this, and Shawn please do more of these. You’ve found your wheel house man, tons of dudes out there who need to tell their story in this platform.
The most badass exchange of the whole interview: "Their motto was, We do bad things to bad people." Shawn immidetly responds with a stone straight face: "Nice"
This was a truly great interview. I was an 18B with 5th Group, but was paralyzed in a HAHO accident t prior to 9/11. It killed me when I knew that the guys that I knew and loved were getting to go somewhere and do something that I spent a lifetime training for and I couldn’t go with them. I still have problems with that, as much as it might sound like I’m whining or just not accepting what happened to me. It’s something that I can’t explain well in words, kind of PTSD turned inside out or survivor’s guilt.
When Mr. glover was talking about the wannabes, I couldn't help but reluctantly feel as if I fell in that category. I love the military and have been trying to join for almost 2 years telling everyone that i was (which was a bad idea) , but unfortunately, I was on some anxiety medication briefly( senior year and the other years after were rough) which showed up on my record and slowed everything down. It hurts because it was all I talked about growing up, and now just hearing everyone ask why I haven't joined and seeing some friends join up no problem, it makes me feel ashamed and embarrassed. Its like I could feel their disbelief and judgements, and it just tears me up. I don't want to join because of popularity or anything like that. I want to join because it's my dream and has been ever since I was a little boy. But with all these setbacks, I got discouraged and gave up on myself for a bit. It's coming along now and ive been really working on myself and succeeding, but that still lingers in my mind, and I fear that if for some reason I officially can't join, I'll just be laughed at or taken as a wannabe. Never thought it would end up like this. I know this is a very old video, and people could care less what's happening with me, but I just had to put that out there.
Lol it is a BLESSING you aren't in right now. Our military is one woke, worldwide JOKE Find meaning in a way that actually matters. Because being a puppet to our pathetic Government full of traitors is NOT something that matters now. My opinion. Join a local police Department, mabey go for SWAT or something in the long term. Try to make a difference in your own community, because our military now is a JOKE. And trust me, SWAT and LE dudes are every bit of respected badasses, and u can actually MAKE A DIFFERENCE in your community. Something you CANT do with our pathetic military now. Good luck and God bless brother
hey man when I was in 11 school there was a guy who had similar thing. if it's anxiety med STOP taking it with your physicians help. As long as you are not struggling with mental health and be totally honest with yourself try again and don't bring it up. So go to a different mepps and all is he said how he said he did it. Howwever the other side is if anxiety is a norm you prolly should try a slightly easier MOS so you can get comfortable within a sharp environment. Due a tech mos or maybe 11B school is easiest for you....
Keep at it man. I’m sure if anything they can find a spot for you in a less high stress environment instead of SOF and a front lines mos if they are worried about your anxiety issues
it's so nice to hear and see a young person who has a dream he wants to fulfill. BTW refer to it as you #1goal you want to accomplish and will accomplish. I really hope you make it. I am totally preying you can control your own anxiety for this reason. the high speed mos utilize some many weapon systems and they don't want anyone Wiggin out or running onto a range. I was thinking about you again and try to complete ft Benning basic training and do split training that way if your having a pot if problems performing then another mos can be sought out. just don't be a NBC guy. that's seems like the loneliest mos in the mix. there isbso many new mos schools for tech and tge supply jobs extremely uncool to be. Wonder if you can get into k9 handler school in Texas. the dog is smarter the us. amd comfort you I worry about they're eardrums.
This is some of the highest production quality I’ve seen in the podcast space. Everything is on point from the lighting, the image, the coloring, and good sound quality. You are an excellent interviewer. Also thank you for introducing me to Mike Glover. This podcast started me looking to see if I could get an age waiver at 31 for SF. What an amazing human.
"I could touch all four walls with my hands and feet" I been there...I used to be so poor and I didn't even know or care, felt like I had everything I needed and loved it...
I want to add; I've spent nearly my entire career at major Wall Street firms, and I can positively confirm that money will not make anyone happy...there is no shortage of miserable multi-millionaires and billionaires.
These Shawn Ryan interviews are absolute historic gold. People will watch these for decades. Keep up the awesome work of informing us of what these guys sacrifice on and off the field so we citizens can live our lives.
This is one of the few 10min< videos that I’ve never skipped through sections. I was engulfed in the conversation between you guys through the whole 2 and a half hours. I honestly appreciate bringing light to the life of an operator and the many struggles that come with a life like this. Not too many people can present content as real as this and I appreciate it.
@@ShawnRyanShow I agree sean... we all go at each other all the time but you showed great professionalism in your interview. But I mean let's be fair. The avg guy thinks bad ass green beret fir a totally different reason then they ARE actually bad ass! You, me , 2 of my ranger buddies and 2 of your seal friends go in and train an indigenous army? That's unique... and bad ass!
Even though both of these guys have been through hell numerous times, you can just tell that both of them are content, and very much at peace with themselves and the world!

Hey Shawn…as you think about episode 100 down the road, it would be awesome to have Mike back on. A nice tribute and with the growth of you both, it would be a nice catch up.
I need much much more of this podcast. These 2 guys have all of my respect. Shawn is a warrior himself and continuously shows respect to his guest as he discusses his experiences. Real and rare.
If I could go back to high school, I’d spend less time worrying about my classes and more time trying to learn from guys like these. Luckily I caught on to this about a year into college, and my life has changed for the better. I’ve become more thoughtful in all things, and no class in school can give you that.
I’m watching this again 2 year later . Fascinating . I hope there are more guys like this around . The world needs it these days . Cheers and thanks Shawn.
I’m back 3 years later. Awesome that Mike was guest #1. So amazing listening to this in its entirety again and seeing how successful you both have become in your respective worlds today. Great stuff 👏🏻
Just listened today. I noticed how you and Mike talked about it being a small world and then later mentioned Jeremy Wise. I never knew him but did know his dad and one of his brothers. They were all really good people. All 3 brothers served overseas and 2 lost their life. The Wise family definitely gave a lot for the United States.
Hi Shawn, You my friend have come a long way with your speaking skills, not dropping F bombs every other sentence is a big improvement and you don't use a lot of filler words, make each word count or wait a second until the right word comes to you, that is so nice compared to the guys that somehow believe they will get paid by the word, the more the better, nope, you don't do that and it's great. Much respect of course for your past service and now even more respect for your talent in getting other interesting people to open up and let us all in on the world we will never know, but somehow wish we had. Cheers, B
If a word like f*** offends you; you may not want to generally go around SF community. Not that this type of colorful vocabulary defines these thick necked renegades, but it’s definitely something that’s around. Tighten up.
@@iipriorii It doesn't offend me at all, never said it did, I am just offering my 2 cents on improving the show a bit, expand the brand as they say, increasing the show to more than the limited ex-military, where obviously cursing every sentence is a way of life, to possibly increasing viewers 2x or 3x just by going more professionally speaking. Just listen here to Mike, his guest. It doesn't take anything away from a show to not curse all the time, it's just a habit, I get it, no biggie. The reason I mentioned it is because I'm so impressed in the improvement in Shawn's interviewing skills, I was just trying to help and BTW, it would increase his popularity absolutely, if you didn't notice, he is asking for exactly that, "push the like button, subscribe, go to Apples site, tell your friends", he wants more people to listen to him all the time, it pays the bills, so if that's his wish, why not sound a bit more professional to help make that happen. He has so much stuff going for him, the guests are great, the life experiences, the settings, he is investing cash to get more popular. It costs nothing to speak better, We all curse plenty, always have since grade school, but when growing a brand of talking for a living, it's time to polish the image just a bit to go to another level, possible hugely so, nothing else is so glaring (to me) holding him back, nothing. It's just a habit and no one has probably ever mentioned it to him, I'm guessing not, I'll still watch because he seems honest and he lets the guests talk without interrupting I hate the modern interviewing style now, and immediately stop watching when people constantly want to be in the spotlight. Shawn stays low key, I like that way more than most interviewers. Cheers.
Yup! BIG improvement. I remember how apprehensive he was in the beginning but after watching this series in the VE studio, he exudes calmness and on-air professionalism and is just so relaxing to watch. Even the Zombie Apocalypse challenge with Mike was fun to watch and was well done. I felt like I was one of the guys just hanging out in the room with them. That's a lot considering both of their calibers. That's what I'm talking about. Just easy-going videos while learning a lot.
Mike Glover Actual is one of my top 3 TH-camrs, creators, contractors, operators, just people so I had to step back and hear 001 again. His intellectual pose, fact checks, no bullshit attitude gives me strength in my day to day to strive harder, think smarter and just be better. Between Shawn Ryan and Mike, I find confidence in this world. I pissed my army career away until 9/11 and then found my serious bone and did something meaningful. Thanks guys for all that you give back
I can relate enormously to Mike's drive and his desire to re-enter the Army after 9-11. I was not long out of the Army when we were attacked. When Shock & Awe kicked off, I went down and talked to a General I knew and got myself put back into a Military Police unit that was about to deploy. I served again until medical reasons put me out of service. Carry on, gents.
Great podcast Sir. You guys nailed it right on the head when you touched on the fact that the greatest way for Veterans to feel the sense of contentment, like we did in the service, is business and entrepreneurship. I couldn't agree more. I'm also honored that you use my holster, damn honored. Anyway, thanks guys and I look forward to future episodes.
I found this channel three years ago!! It's my fault by not going to videos and scrolling down to this!!! Never once were the first fifteen available while looking up your episodes when I looked them through search. Finally now they do!!! WTF, TH-cam!!!! Thinking back, when I did scroll down the TH-cam app kept crashing! I am glad I can see them now but understanding the beginning, you appreciate the growth and support more! It maybe a benefit after this time to understand the transformation! I remember the Navy Seal episodes. I sound like a binary lampshade!! I am thankful I now can watch them!!!
Wow awesome I’ve never watched anything like this 2 unbelievable men makes me so proud to be an American without people like this we wouldn’t be the same. Knowing these guys had our back while we slept at night is a great feeling. What a career Mike thanks for sharing. Shawn thank you also. I’m tuned to both of y’alls channels.
I love all of these podcasts. Having been born in "68 I grew up around adults who served in Vietnam or Korea. A few WW2 vets...In this point of time i think the internet has created a positive forum for veterans. Whether you realize it or not, you're healing each other. Podcasts are super important, not only because the general public needs to know, but you all need each other. I have become consciously aware of the products i buy. I'm just a civilian who is so proud of all of you. But as a lifelong volunteer FF, I know this.... only your brother's know your pain. The job isn't done until the last man is out. Thank you, Mike Glover & Shawn Ryan. Talking is important. In J.R.R. Tolkien's adventure.(Who witnessed the horrors of WW1) . At the very end of his epic tale. Froto is sent away from his friends to The Undying Lands. His friends would no longer understand his grief from being touched by evil. Which is seen as a metaphor for Frodo making peace with his own traumatic experiences, leaving behind the soldier he was and finding a new life free from the horrors of war. For Tolkien, his therapy was writing. There was no outlet for shared grief. The government will NEVER provide what's needed. But you have each other, and you have a Nation willing to listen and help. God Bless
Wow, Mike’s mindset as a Green Beret is so much different than Marines, Seals, Delta, SAS, and many other special ops!! I had heard the Green Berets were different but the ability to train local populations, keep them safe and sweep houses without wanting to kill everyone because you know it’ll affect the nation as a whole is amazing to me! That is why they are called Americas best!
I'm newer to the genre, but had seen a bit of Shawn's work online. Great first guest in Mike Glover, who I'm remiss in not already knowing about! Excellent production values, I loved the fact that the guys were lounging in a comfortable space without microphones in their faces, just having a conversation. Great questions Shawn! (Except for the question you didn't seem to want to ask but had to: "Umm..what did you think of me?" Haha) Incredible resolution on the cameras which showed the most important damn thing in the podcast. Mike shared his experience with depression and difficulty with finding a new mission. I hate this aspect of transition for our veterans but when Shawn asked about Fieldcraft, Mike's eyes lit up again and you wouldn't have seen that had Shawn skimped on the camera resolution. This is so important because we as viewers got to see the passion that Mike has for what he's doing. It makes me glad that he found his new mission after his service and it makes me want to check out the ways in which he's still interested in helping people. All told, awesome podcast and I look forward to checking out more of what both of you do! Thanks to you both for your service, sacrifice and continued work toward the betterment of people in this country. --Mike Orlick
They make my heart swell and eyes tear up, these are Men. Not males but the perfect example of what a Man is. I thank you both and all the other Men that stand firm.
From a family of soldiers. Been a fan of your work since episode 51 showed up in my u tube feed. It only took a minute to realize you are providing a much needed service Brother. Seeing your first episode it's clear you've been about the raw truth from before the word go. Love and respect your continued service to your fellow human beings.
Your channel helped me a lot especially with my PTSD, and even more so my refusal to do anything about it until I watched your video on therapy. 🙏🏼💚 Happy New Year Shawn
I'm a 64-year old guy. I was a crew chief in the Air Force. My level of respect for you guys is beyond a thank you. More so because, I went to Taji at 55 -years old as a civilian contractor for Bell Helicopter. I was protected by contractors. Some pretty tough guys, not at your level but nevertheless, combat veterans. I was evac'd out to Doha when the Taliban got too close to Taji. My question is: How do you guys feel about the current state of affairs? Our whole government is corrupted. You guys dedicated your lives to protect America and especially, the 3 branches of government. The elite left is a true juggernaut. Guys like you are America's only hope. (April 2022)
"they don't want the people to know this" "they won't tell you this in the media" "they aren't going to share this medical secret with you because good health will destroy their business" anytime I hear someone use "they" in this context I no longer engage them intellectually, it tells me enough about their research and critical thinking. I'm getting those vibes from this guy Joseph. It's not to be disrespectful but I have to vet the minds I engage with about important subjects, we can have other conversations but our time and energy is finite... turn off the CNN and Fox news and live your life it's toxic to live under this umbrella of negativity for long periods. If anything, your TV news rage porn addiction is exactly what "they" want so you continue to obsessively consume while they display their commercials and advertisements to you and make their money 💵
@@getstuk87 - Keep your head in the sand and in denial. You assume I watch television. You wrote this 5-hours ago. Maybe you should listen to General Flynn speak about current affairs. All you need is a nose to smell this shit storm coming.
the suicide part is deep, these guys you can see them as the most badass and brave people on the planet but the true battle at the end of the day is with yourself and it can absolutely defeat you at times and acknowledging that can make you feel weak and destroys a mans confidence. I been there and it’s a terrible place to be. Stay strong brothers 💪
That part hit me right in the chest. I've seen it in myself and I've seen it in other veterans. I'm glad they shared it so hopefully others will know they aren't alone.
This is one of the best podcasts I have ever heard. I work as a CPA, and have horrible ADHD, I didn't lose interest for one minute! Hope to see more awesome content like this.
I spent 23 years in the Air Force and I find Sean’s show to be very thought provoking, authentic, and well researched. His (military) guests are down to earth and knowledgeable about the areas Sean has them talking about. He doesn’t glamorize his guests. He brings it all to us so you don’t have to join the military to still learn from great leaders. Look forward to future guests!
Shawn, man I swear! Yourself and your guest are the Pride of America. The personification of American Patriotism and American Fortitude, Strength and Honor.
This is one of the best settings for a podcast. There not a big microphone in there face. The quality of the video is awesome. You can tell there was a lot of money spent on the equipment used. Very relaxed environment. Great questions. Great interview.
Shawn: "The last time I saw you, we were in Yemen". Mike: "You had that assasination attempt and it was a pretty big deal, getting shot up and we QRF'd you, and it was a good day" Me: "Respect"
Shawn, for a Dutch guy who has a lot of respect for the U.S. special forces, i truly respect the perspectives you're showing us. This is a real fighter and hero and there are so many lessons to be learned from this conversation. Thank you and I hope to visit your part of the country soon. Cheers.
So this dude was practically Delta without even saying it. If this was a SEAL in seal team 6 he would have made it known to the world. This dude is straight business his whole military career. Props.
Glover didn't spend long at CAG. So he considers himself mostly a Green Beret. He did one deployment with A Squadron on a team. Than spent the rest of his time at the unit in a surveillance recce role(a lot of Green Berets were seconded to CAG to full this role) Before leaving to start up AFRICOM SF CIF team.
Nah don’t, I’m sure you’ll go on to make a difference in many lives just based on your impression on mike. This is my first time learning of this man, he’s great I’ve learned a lot about myself and him just tuning in. Bless you brother!
I understand whole heartedly - but I bet if you met mike and told him that - he’d tell you to stop being dumb. Lol. These guys are sharing their stories for a lot of reasons but one of them is so that we can learn from them. It doesn’t matter if we are doing GWOT or even just working hard to excel in college. - they want us to do well in the shit we do.
@@bassface14 Yeah it seems like one of their biggest traits is their acceptance, I’ve really got into these videos lately. The way that they just accept things and can be so candid has been a really big inspiration on my mindset. You can see they really want you to learn from them.
My great uncle Bruce Hoffman signed back up after not fighting in war since Vietnam, he was doing reserve at 54yrs old, and he did 2 tours in Iraq in 2002-2004…. It always gave me so much pride knowing he not only reenlisted but went back to war in 50s Hahahah “Jumping Jacks! And climbing mountains in sandals” 😂 Edit: Best part about Shawn is he knows a lot of these answers or at least an idea, but hr asks questions that civilians want to know. Thanks Shawn! ❤
I've watched this so many times. It's like watching history, and damn the way you have grown Shawn. I'm really happy to have been here since the start commenting and watching this important work grow in it's scope as well as helping all of us grow as people. Thank's as always.........I try to say it under every video.
These guys are towers of integrity. Honest, dignified, humble. Mike Glover's story is the quintessential example of the American dream. Working your ass off to succeed at life. Amazing men.
Another great interview with one of our best. Mike is an awesome soldier with a strict discipline for doing what’s best for himself and our country. His parents need praise for raising a such a fine young man.
Thank-you Mr. Glover for your amazing service! I find it absolutely disgusting our FBI found you an extremists. I would side with you in a second and so would so many Americans! Thank-you Shawn for interviewing so many great Americans like yourself!!

Glad Mike had a good time in Tennessee, and glad to have you in South Nash, Shawn.
Totally agree
One of my biggest pet peeve's....interruptions from narcissistic selfish people that honestly should know better...its good to be involved in conversations with intelligent caring and knowledgeable people
Good point, awesome perspective.

Tim Kennedy. That's a bad ass story, I've heard both tell it.
"We didn't have much... but we were rich, because we didn't feel like we were poor." Awesome stuff!

Bob Lee Swagger how do people get it confused so much
This video helped me out a lot.

Shawn uploads a 2-1/2 hour interview even though Mike said in one of his own vlogs that the average attention span is only 4 minutes. Well Mike, sometimes ya just gotta be wrong. I could have watched this for another 2-1/2 hours. This was so good.
But those of us that watch the whole thing really enjoy them
Most ppl don’t watch a 2 hour interview pertaining to anything. You forget he said *average* and it’s a fact and even more nowadays that most ppl have a short attention span.

Pretty ignorant statements on "tactical civilians"
Civilians have to try to balance both on their own dollar. They don't have multi million dollar budgets backing them. Most don't want military employment but want to protect American values. They get no cred from Mikey. Just condemnation. Ouch
No, these are sheep dogs. Sheep dogs kill predators.

You’re going to be a great psychologist for tough, smart, troubled young men like Robbin Williams in Good Will Hunting. Or Jordan Peterson.

I've been watching Field Craft Survival for a while now. Mike is VERY humble. As long as i've been watching he hasn't revealed this much about his military career as he did here. It's a damn shame what our government has done to him. How he's been treated as of late, is utterly disgraceful.
What have they done to him?
As an old Marine myself, I can relate to getting out of the military and transitioning to the civilian sector. You go from being the tip of the spear to the butt of the joke... You go from the top to nothing. No purpose or direction, just empty and lost... Idle hands find the devil's work... Keeping busy and serving others, in my own opinion, is the best way to assimilate to being normal again... Thank you Shawn and Mike for your service and your guidance... God Bless and Howdy from Texas 🤠
i hear you brother,ex army infantry myself 72 to 76
The graphics looks like an MMA match between a NAVY Seal and a Green Beret. Can't wait for this one! Probably the best podcast I'd be listening to before the year ends. Thanks guys!
Myke Manlangit I hope you’re right. (About the podcast, not me fighting a Green Beret 😂)
Shawn, this is your best work to date. You are one hell of an interviewer
sean peterson thank you 🙏🏻
I have a good friend that was Marine Recon and he always speaks highly of SF. He is a firm believer that a war fighter is much more than a trigger presser.
Very true
Wow
Andrew Kenseth thank you for watching man. The next guest is here.
The most badass exchange of the whole interview:
"Their motto was, We do bad things to bad people."

Our military is one woke, worldwide JOKE
Find meaning in a way that actually matters.
I feel your pain brother
hey man when I was in 11 school there was a guy who had similar thing. if it's anxiety med STOP taking it with your physicians help. As long as you are not struggling with mental health and be totally honest with yourself try again
and don't bring it up.

Wow... I did not know that. Thank you for mentioning that. God bless them.
This is a great podcast Sean. Everything from lighting, camera position, questions asked and the fact that you don't interrupt.
Pork Pistol thank you
Hi Shawn, You my friend have come a long way with your speaking skills, not dropping F bombs every other sentence is a big improvement and you don't use a lot of filler words, make each word count or wait a second until the right word comes to you, that is so nice compared to the guys that somehow believe they will get paid by the word, the more the better, nope, you don't do that and it's great. Much respect of course for your past service and now even more respect for your talent in getting other interesting people to open up and let us all in on the world we will never know, but somehow wish we had. Cheers, B
Bill MacKinnon thank you for noticing.
I noticed that, too, Bill. And it is greatly admired.
Thanks guys for all that you give back
His level of humbleness is so high it's unreal! Hat's off to you sir and thank you for all you've done.

God Bless
