Hi man, was born and raise in this city. This restaurant always had a bad reputation. I mean... for everyone. idk why but clearly no locals ever go there. Ok, there is one thing tourists and also many french get very wrong. This is NOT a restaurant. Those are "Cafés" or "Bistro(t)". While some could argue they are the same, which they are in terms of the service they provide, they are not in terms of their orientations. A restaurant, focuses on cooking and serving food, while Bistros, are establishments for drinking first, having a snack second, and only in modern times did they start offering food "the way" restaurants do. Now, some Bistros and cafés might have great food, but as a parisian, my friends and I avoided them, because since their focus is not 100% on food, and since they often occupy great spots (angle of streets, large floor print, classic ancient building/decoration), a lot of them focused only on the bottom line, without the necessary respect for the culinary art, and just reheat pre-made industrial dishes, use abundance of frozen food and cans.

Thank you King! For saying it like it is. I’ve encountered rudeness towards me and my family as a foreigner in Paris and other cities several times. Good for you man👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾. Shouldn't be disrespected like that. But dont let them stop you from doing your thing. The 1st place you showed was great. The whole trip was much appreciated.
Cool video✌🏾. I visited the coastal side of France via a cruise in 2023-beautiful. I went off season so the weather was not as nice as your trip there.
I was in Nice before the pandemic and had a wonderful time there. Only problem I had with restaurants is they don't like to cook steaks medium well or well done. Had to send my order back two or three times and they gave me the side eye like don't bring your ass back here no more. Other than that, I had a blast. Was there during the Nice Jazz fest!
Your place is so beautiful and indeed looks very relaxing! You looked so peaceful in the water! Rocky coast is very interesting but the water looks so beautiful. Sorry the video had to end that way as well, I don't stick around establishments with poor service. Overall, I'm glad you enjoyed.
The French Riviera, really cool spot lol, in the 90’s the beach was top-less. So plenty of sites to see 😂. Plenty of smaller cities to see also like Cannes, Juan le Pon and up to Marseille.
There is absolutely no excuse for bad manners, especially in the hospitality Industry. I have always found that the French can be rude and they can rip you off, and they do it with a smile. Italians are the same when they are at their worst except they will do it whilst making you think that they are being funny and they will sing opera to you at the same time!!! I do love the countryside of France and the country people are a lot nicer plus you will get real food at good local proces and it'll be fresh. My advice to you is in mainland Europe keep away from tourist traps you'll get screwed at all of them wherever you are.
Sorry that you experienced that. I spent a week with my family in South of France. Cannes was our home base but didn’t have any issues when we were in Nice.
We were just in Nice earlier this month. You’re right about that restaurant. The worst service ever! We ended up just leaving. However, We loved being there and had a great time visiting Cannes and Monte Carlo.
broooo, i'm from Nice, and It's very nice to share your view on my city! It's refreshing! And yeah, le café de Lyon is very well known here to be one of the worst place... it's nothing but a trap for tourists...
Francia is one of the most beautiful country but you must to go in smallest village around mountain like around Clermont-Ferrand, around Bourboule, Volvic etc
Thx, ,I am French and have been to Nice several times, I had a friend and friendly acquaintances there, but there is a difference that I could notice, some beginners do not have good morals, the people of Nice seemed to me more among themselves, less open, others,
Pity you already left Ace ...there's a great rum-tasting bar run by a cool dude from Guadaloupe just near Gare Riquier, was gonna recommend you pay him a visit. Antillean rum is seriously smooth and delicious. Looking forward to get back down there. Nice can be very hit and miss. You have to know where to go. Unfortunately, its the places off the beaten track that are the best to check out and it's for that *_exact_* reason i'm loathe to disclose some of them because I respect that the local residents deserve to have some places in their city that aren't too overcrowded or mainly catering to the many tourists who come to the city. Safe travels
I have been there. Had a horrible experience with a local Airbnb host. It was all taken in stride. Didn't let it corrupt our visit. We like to eat at the small eateries and the markets.
Hello Ace! I enjoy and Love all your videos 📹 💕 I am sorry you went through that you don't deserve that. You handled it well😊 Shalom and Blessings to you my friend! ❤😊❤
Hi!!! Thanks for making the video about Nice. I was actually considering a move to retire there. I was interested in a more rural area, though. I was considering renting and hoped that 30 min to an hour from the beach would mean more affordable rent. I won't go to the Lyon restaurant, though.
Hope you enjoyed your stay here mon ami, you got to come back you missed many many many absolutely stunning landscapes and medieval villages in the countryside by the mountains, or the islands in front of Cannes. Also sorry you feel in a tourist trap, hope it did not ruin your experience
Racism in the south of France is real ACE. They're not even subtle about it. My sis experienced it numerous times, not necessarily in Nice but in another city. I was there vacationing with her, we experienced exact same thing. The shop owner simply refused to serve us
It wasn’t about race. Don’t assume everything bad done by a white person to a black person is race. He even showed reviews showing that this happened to other people. We are a black couple who spent time living in France and they are known to be curt even to white French locals.
@@ACEDTVLstill racism. They also do it all the time to the Arabs. As long as you're of a different race/ethnic background and you're being discriminated against, it's racism
@@ACEDTVL My fiancee and I enjoy watching your videos Ace, but you should not be discounting this woman's experience with racism. Oftentimes, racism is a factor, whether you want to admit it or not. Yes, the staff is probably rude, but I'm pretty sure your race did not help. It sounds like you could not even get seated. The people who left reviews at least got seated, although the service was poor. They clearly did not want you there. With all due respect, don't be afraid to call out racism. I recommend Cannes, I’m going back next year
I love Nice - and yes you are in a central Plaza - it’s an iconic street in Nice with the checkerboard design and the statue light fixtures on the poles- hope you find the casino
Nice video Ace! One place you might enjoy is Porto in Portugal 🇵🇹 I went last year and it was such a wonderful experience.
$ 260 a night great price and beautiful apartment
Thank you for teaching me how to pronounce Saint Tropez correctly. I certainly would have embarrassed myself 😅
Lived here 14 years. Never went there because my french friends never did. I go where the French go, its generally really good then or interesting. 😊
Where do the French go then?
Great video! Started watching the first few minutes and before I knew it, ended up watching the whole thing. Good to see another SFL at this, and doing so well. Definitely sub!
Thank you & I've screen shot it. I will never go there & I'm telling every EXPAT I know.
Love the channel man! Great content.
Keep on doing you man. Great videos. Barcelona next man
I was in Nice before the pandemic and had a wonderful time there. Only problem I had with restaurants is they don't like to cook steaks medium well or well done. Had to send my order back two or three times and they gave me the side eye like don't bring your ass back here no more. Other than that, I had a blast. Was there during the Nice Jazz fest!
I'm so sad. Sorry you had to experience such a rude establishment. I certainly will never go there. Your video was awesome!!!!! Thank you so much ❤
Your place is so beautiful and indeed looks very relaxing!
Actually all beaches are topless in France, and probably in all Europe as well
@@Billyfrickfrancis nice 😊
Oh, I think you meant Juan les pins? It's a beautiful small town! Antibes is also a really nice place
Love your journey videos, I'll tell you the restaurant would not be the reason I would not travel there. Be safe brother
Sorry that you experienced that. I spent a week with my family in South of France. Cannes was our home base but didn’t have any issues when we were in Nice.
We had bad experiences in cannes. V rude staff etc
I plan on visiting Nice, but not in the summer. Thanks for showing me some of the city
We were just in Nice earlier this month. You’re right about that restaurant. The worst service ever! We ended up just leaving. However, We loved being there and had a great time visiting Cannes and Monte Carlo.
I am Russian and I have always been treated well in Nice.
The hotel is awesome.Great Vid.
1st Can't wait to enjoy the video 💯
Hope you enjoyed it!
Very nice, surprisingly big !!
Good choice for your Apt.
LOVE the flat!!
broooo, i'm from Nice, and It's very nice to share your view on my city!
Yes, come to the streets of Philadelphia!
❤❤❤❤I enjoyyour honesty & vibe a
Love your videos Ace! ❤️
Thanks for the heads up. I was planning to visit next year. My husband has zero tolerance for this sort of thing. We will not be going there.
🔥🔥🔥 Excellent video Ace, you just convinced me to visit Nice as I love France, thanks👌🏼
Hi, could you please tell me the name or the address of that rhum bar ?
Le Grand Café de Lyon à Nice
I have been there. Had a horrible experience with a local Airbnb host. It was all taken in stride. Didn't let it corrupt our visit. We like to eat at the small eateries and the markets.
❤ Ace 🎉🎉🎉 thanks for this trip keep flowing
Sorry for the bad experience. Besides that the video is quite enjoyable, thank you for taking is along😊💯
Been there enjoyed it , the beach very nice in Nice 😍😍😍
Hello Ace! I enjoy and Love all your videos 📹 💕 I am sorry you went through that you don't deserve that. You handled it well😊 Shalom and Blessings to you my friend! ❤😊❤
I love watching your vlogs Ace!!
WOW THE VIEW IS OUT OF THIS WORLD
Hi, I had a great time in Nice, everyone was nice I didn’t have any issues there or in Paris. I would love to go back.
Hi!!! Thanks for making the video about Nice. I was actually considering a move to retire there. I was interested in a more rural area, though. I was considering renting and hoped that 30 min to an hour from the beach would mean more affordable rent. I won't go to the Lyon restaurant, though.
Best of luck!
@@JK-nq1dlI know what I know. It's racism period
what do you call it when it's people that weren't black?
I could feel the energy through my computer screen, especially in St. Tropez.
Great episode-- the breakfast with a hater had me 😂 cracking up yo
So sorry ACE that you were not treated with respect by that ignorant waiter. The French Tourism Agency "Atout France" should pay attention to all these complaints done against that restaurant bad customer service towards Tourist. The same Tourists that spend their well earn cash to keep the French tourist industry going. I'm glad that you had the guts to speak out and tell us about your bad experience in France. yes I do like that you show the good the bad and the ugly of all your travels experiences..... that what makes you so UNIC ACE..... TAKE CARE AND STAY SAFE.
Ive been to Nice many times over the years. I enjoyed it
ace i am packing my bags soon this looks so good for my photo work !!
love the nice woman at the beginning immediately showing the friendly side of Nice
So beautiful!
Thx Ace! Nice video, helped me with some anxiety right now. Thx for all the views n sights. Also 😂 @ ur breakfast with a hater 😂. Safe travels 2 u always 💙
great to see u again! Haven't seen since South America!
😅 welcome to nice 👌, smiley its Indeed a lovely place to visite ,But Sorry for the Bad waiter😮 expérience expérience ..😮🎉🎉better Luck next Time
Nice vlog of Nice. There's a Jamaican woman Mel from Nice and her French husband and kids (The Delaveau family vlog) who lives in Nice and vlogs from there so we have been exposed to the beautiful Nice. Glad you had fun despite the setback in the restaurant.
Ace, great video, been there before and going back again in two weeks. Never go where tourist go, don't waste your energy going back to a place with a bad vibe. You do get to places with bad service, but don't get this get to you. I'm sure majority had a bad service except it was not on TH-cam. You had a great time and adventure :)
Ace I am a heterosexual African American man from Chicago. A brother I was in Cannes in June. I took the train from Cannes to Nice and did some sight seeing. I went to the topless beaches in Cannes and had a great time with some lovely ladies. It was pricy but I had a good time. Ace check out Palma de Mallorca Spain if you have not already did so.
Ace I watched this video to the end. I heard what you had to say about what happened to you at that restaurant. French people are very arrogant and stuck up when it comes to speaking to them in English. If you can speak french they are more receptive to you. I do not speak french and ran into a similar situation in Cannes in a cafe. Stay up brother.
@@calmdown2876i am french, sorry for what happen to you
Nice time in Nice.
👍💯💜
Hello ACE, I am French and I can tell you that you make the best tourist videos that I can see on TH-cam. Your videos are interesting, funny and you go to people to talk to them. I love it.
Nice is a very beautiful city but politically not very far from the American Republican Party of Donald Trump
Le Grand Café de Lyon (protected by the mayor of the city): The reviews on Tripadvisor and Google confirm what you say. The reviews are very negative.
Stay who you are. Don't change anything, you are great.
Erich, come on , its extreme right wing .
Welcome to the town where I grew up, glad you enjoyed it
To hell with the haters and xenophobes, Ace! They're all inconsequential fallible shortsighted little specks... Keep carrying on fam! Thank you for making these videos... you're very inspiring bro...
French national living (long term) in the US, glad to have found u on here. I love talking culture shocks etc, but I feel north american tbh
