    It’s mostly about them touring nonstop and missing their families. This is one of my favorite songs of theirs.

      lol even when they're off tour they don't really see their families due to russian annexation in eastern ukraine which includes their hometown donetsk.

      since when they are from Donieck ?, if you could understood ukrainian at the beginning of the song u would no talking bulshit ... I mean both of you James and Jen ..." Those who took always care about you and lifted you over their heads (as a child), late Spring were overgrown by grass" (it's a methafor because graves are overgrown by grass when Spring comes ....).... They are missing their parents ....who are dead already ....o tempora o mores ....

    I love this song and love your reaction! It's one of their most interesting ones to me and it's in my top 5 Jinjer songs. Interesting rhythms, great vocals, such a vibe. It's about being away from their family. The song references having a positive and loving childhood, having nostalgia and homesickness, but also knowing their current life is so far removed from the past. The Russian in the beginning translates to:
    "Who raised you?
    Brightened up your sadness with love?
    Late in the spring, they will become overgrown with grass,
    The one who carried you over their head"
    Basically meaning that later in life, the people who raised and loved you will become forgotten when they carried you and sacrificed to give you the life you have now.

    Been a fan for about 10 yrs now and followed their progression, this is by far one of my top bands out there. Imo there is not one boring song from Jiner and it is for sure a musicians band, the level of every member is so mind blowing, they are such nice people.

    Fun reaction. They've said the song is about Tatiana, Eugene and Roman being separated from their families who are on the other side of the battle lines in the war in eastern Ukraine, with no end in sight unless Ukraine accepts Russia's demand to make the eastern part of their nation a Russian puppet state. And their parents are getting older and knowing they won't be able to be with them through their elder years. The video broadens that focus on family to their found family within the band, and the extended family of their fans.

    Oh how I love, love, love this song! So underrated, doesn´t pop up as much as it should in recomendations and reaction videos! One of the best, if not the best side by side with Judgement & Punishment, from last album Macro. The intro, the melodic guitar, the russian vocals, the lyrics, the meaning, the rythm, the amazing bass work, the shifts, the drums, the....everything! Even the video is awesome! Good reaction, go for some older bangers like Just Another official or Captain Clock live at Ressurection Fest!
    Peace!

    Dude, love your reactions, been following your journey down the Jinjer rabbit hole!!! Love the way she sings the intro in Russian. Lots of comments on this vid since it came out for them to do a whole song in Russian, very beautiful language for Tati to sing. Do the official vid for "Just Another" next!! It has Dimtry Kim on drums. Dimtry is still good friends with the band and helped them do the "Ape, One Shot" vid. He's a killer drummer, and plays on the King of Everything album. Vlad definitely had his work cut out for him when he took the throne! But, I think without Vlad, they would not have been able to ascend to the next level of prog they're at now. He was the perfect addition. Vlad is an outstanding musician all the way - he's a pianist, plays guitar, and is one of the best "open handed" drummers I've seen so far!

    I know this video is a year old, but I think you nailed it by calling Jinjer possibly the best rhythm section in metal. Progressive, but doesn’t drone and has unpredictable structures or hangs. Knowing builds with surprises…

    Thought you would really dig this song, sooo much going on in it. The line you probably heard "Childhood of misery is lifelong injury" is a quote from one of their earlier songs 'Dreadful Moments' - a pretty heavy song with dark lyrics. It was about one of I think Eugene's friends and what he went through growing up. If you look at the lyrics Tati goes on to say "No, it's not for me. What I've always had, Father's love and Mother's hand".

    TH-cam was recommending Jinjer to me for months before I finally accepted my fate and allowed some new music into my life. I continue to be blown away by their music.
    That experience with opening myself to Jinjer led me to opening myself to another artist I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts on. That being Devin Townsend.
    It's hard to explain why I love the music he makes so much.
    If you aren't already familiar with his music, may I request you check out his former band, Devin Townsend Project, and their live performance of Deadhead at the Royal Albert Hall? I find the performance overwhelming in all the best ways and I'd be interested in your perspective on it.

    I say this almost every one of your Jinjer reactions but they are the best band that is touring anywhere in the world. This band is in the top three technically proficient of all time. The dynamic of Tati being the frontwoman, in the beginning, catch most everyone by surprise, but then you hear the band and are BLOWN away. Love this reaction, as always, I admire your breakdowns of the bass and musicianship in general. Last thing, where did you get that shirt, its badass brother. Much continued success!

    0:23 - Yeah, It's Macro, not Micro. Napalm Records' typo will be there forever because they won't take the video down to correct it and lose all the views and comments. Oh, well... I'm sure NR's boss had a word or three with someone in his video editing department back then. >: )
    3:06 - The bottom right clip was from their Loudwire interview, which is available on YT, of course.

    My understanding is that they left home in Crimea to go to Kiev to better establish themselves as a band. While they were in Kiev, Russia annexed Kiev and they have not been able to return home to see family since. They perpetually tour because they really have no home at this point. It is actually quite sad, but has also made them even more driven. I believe a good portion of the sentiment in the song has to do with this situation. Also, growing up in an industrial, coal mining town was a hard life. I love your Jinjer reviews. Keep them coming. As a bass player, Eugene is an absolute beast!

    • @Dark__Thoughts
      @Dark__Thoughts 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Nonono.
      Crimea is the peninsula south of Ukraine, which unmarked Russian forces took over in 2014. Kiev is very far away from any of the occupied zones and where they eventually moved to, to escape the war, and were on tour almost all the time since then (until corona came along). The three of them are from Donetsk (not sure exactly where Vlad is from, he joined them long after they moved out), which lies now within the eastern occupied zone by "separatists" and "holiday soldiers", which they fled when the troops came closer, knowing they would probably not be able to continue with their Music if they were to stay.
      There is also the song No Hoard Of Value, which is about their home town, and Home Back, which is about the war and their home.

    • @natastudyN
      @natastudyN 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      No, Jinjer are from Gorlovka, Donetsk region which is now occupied by ruSSia , conducting ITS dastardly hybrid war and cowardly raving that some "separatists" are in charge. Kyiv (correct current official spelling) was never annexed, it's Crimea which was annexed by ruSSia in 2014 and with which Jinjer has no connection.

      And actually Vlad's previous band Zlam had better bassist than Jinjer. Them was better band at all but them played songs in ukrainian language and the music wasnt so mainstream.
