Hoop House Ground Posts & Hoops

- Ground Posts are the poles that go into the ground to anchor the structure into the ground. Each pole works both independently as an anchor point and together as a connected structure. Ground posts are just slightly larger than the hoop pipes and ¼” bolts are used to secure the hoops to the ground posts. It’s important that the bolts are on the inside of where the plastic will be and running parallel and lengthwise to the structure. This protects the plastic from possible damage.

Do you just drive the posts through the ground cover, or does it need to be punctured first? I thought you guys had a video before showing how you used a torch to make a hole, but now I can't find it.

Instead of 11 mil polyethylene plastic, is it possible/recommended to use 4x8ft polycarbonate sheets instead? Would the spacing allow them to be fastened sturdily? Thanks for taking time to address my question.
Anything out of spec, and outside of our Kit can be done with the hoop house owners discretion. It’s just not something we offer on our kits.
What is the tensile strength of a 1 3/8" rail - 17 gauge? and 1 5/8" post - 16 gauge?
Our 1.35 and 1.624 in 16 is 40,000 psi yield/45,000 psi tensile.
These are for our all metal kits.
Any other pipe sourced elsewhere would have to check on that supplier .
Using $22 for a 10 ft EMT pipe from Home Depot, how do your greenhouse kits (piping only) compare for a 20ft x 80 ft hoop house? Thanks in advance.
We do not use EMT pipe.
There’s really no comparison. The two metals are so vastly different and designed for completely different applications.
