    Just so you know this is actually the SLOW way to grow pineapples, as it takes 2-3 years minimum from the tops. If you want a pineapple after 1 year then don't use the tops, use pineapple 'side shoots' from another plant. (You may want to google it). Farmers always use side shoots instead of tops because they don't want to wait 2 -3 times longer than necessary, they'd go broke... and yes, i've grown them both ways and harvested the fruits which are extremely tasty when grown organically :)

    • @organicgrow4440
      @organicgrow4440 3 ปีที่แล้ว +10

      I think not only tastier from being organic but allowed to become fully ripe on the plant, most people grow tops instead of sides shoot cause they can’t get side shoots easily.

      my respect goes to the pineapple growers. even with the quicker process, it takes so much time and effort. if we compare the price that we pay for pineapple, it seems very cheap compared to the hard work involved in growing it

      But when the local supermarket will GIVE you fresh tops for free everyday, who cares. I planted mine directly on the soil with compost all around and kept it moist. Grew a stem in 18 months.

    I like the way you recycle so there is no excuse for planting. Where there is a will there is a way.I just started a couple days ago to plant mine because I want plants in my house for the winter. I live in New Jersey. I kill my house plants in the winter.So I am trying it the cheap way .Buy the pineapple,eat the fruit then plant it.Wonderful video so resourceful.

    Hey, pineapples are bromeliads, but keep in mind that just because the pineapple plant will grow. Does not mean that it will have fruit. I had 40 or 50 pineapple plants and most of them would not grow fruit. SOME are hybrid plants and they do not reproduce. That means, that it depends on the grower, which species u end up with.

      Your first question is correct. Plant them in big jars straight way. No need the water part. They just grow. I found those that grow in partial shade, grew better.

    Lovely idea always ...but after doing some of the thing myself remove it from one container to another is a tedious job especially when you have a lot of them. This need to simplify to reduce the unnecessary work that could save hours probably days if you have have many
