Great tutorial. The color pop mode works for well contained colored areas, but no so well when the color is fading. I also didn't realis (before I printed one) that it creates these color islands on top of the base. While the filament layered color painting (one color / layer) is really cool - having the option to combine this with a multi color printer (Bambu Lab with AMS) that can print multiple colors at the same layer, would create the best of both worlds (IMO).
That's on the long term roadmap but it's low priority because it eliminates a bunch of users and greatly increases waste. I'm not sure what you mean by when the color is fading, if you put black below and white above your color you can handle both ends of the color spectrum.
Thank! Thisbis exactly what i needed! I have a pic with just a red tie! This is awesome, thank you. Lol, i just got hueforge, and im still not sure how to turn it to color from black and white! It's ok we are learning.
Try using the Color Pop preset colors (even if you don't have them) and adjust the bottom white to be just below the black like I do in the video. It gets you started with color in color pop.
Amazing work! Just getting back into 3d printing after a long hiatus and Hueforge looks like a great way to push the bounds of my creativity. At the end of the video you mentioned trick you could do to desaturate then add a level of green into the background. Is there any sort of reference guide on best practices in photoshop ( or equivalent ) to get these best results in hueforge? I’ve never touched photo editing software and trying to apply these concepts to the 3d printing aspect can be challenging. Thanks for everything 🎉
Depends on which version you are using and what mode you are in. If you are trying to color pop the red and black and make his eyes green, you probably need to use Color Aware instead
hey man, i absolutely love hueforge at the moment. but im having some issues that when i want a particular spot a certain color green, it also fills another spot green aswell eventhough its NOT green but because its the same shade of grey i suppose. would it be possible to have a tutorial to work around this or added more features that lets you color a certain area only? i dont know how this would be done. If i were to mark a certain area i get another set of sliders for that spot only? i dont know, im just a user. Would love to discuss this with further in private if you will.
You nailed this, the gray area is the same luminance. Since this is on the color pop video, I assume you are trying this in color pop mode? If that is the case, then I'm guessing your tolerance isn't high enough and you should slowly increase it until the gray turns gray and the green stays green.
Hueforge looks really cool, but learning curve is a bit steep. Would be very helpfull if the images used in these tutorials were linked in the description, then I could follow along and do the exact same thing on my computer.
You probably have v0.6.5 Personal Use, this is the 0.7.0-beta version which goes to commercial tiers. Should be going full release Sunday/Monday assuming no game breaking bugs
@@hueforging hi. I ´m still on 0.6.5 is there any reason for this? How can i get the update? Or is this only for pro users. Mine is personal and mac version. Thanks
@@ronnymalt9569 probably because you need to follow these instructions: shop.thehueforge.com/blogs/news/how-to-get-hueforge-v0-6-4-windows-and-macos to get access to the new downloader.
Oh if you have the Mac version, then you already have access to the new Downloader so you just need to look in your email for a file from Digital Downloads Pro which was emailed out on August 8th
I just relized that my email with the download of Hueforge had a link to discord. I went to join but was told it had expired. Is there away to get a new invite to the discord?
my colors never ever save am i doing something wrong? even Tho I hit save. help from anyone be great, it's starting to be a serious problem got the software week ago.
Assuming you mean filament - there is a bug in v0.6.5 that means filaments won't save unless you launch DIRECTLY from the exe file in the folder or pinned to the taskbar. A shortcut, or even the windows search function won't work.

I didn't realize I was buying a Beta! this interface is incoherent to most people.....I have watched just about all the YT videos out there about HF from most of the big channels, and you can tell they don't know how to use it either. they all print the test prints. Im sure I will be flamed for saying this. and yes I'm stupid and don't get it. even with 20+ years in the FG industry. glad I only spent $18 on it....Maybe in another year or two it will be usable.
I'm sorry you are having a hard time understanding the interface. However, the Early Access description in all the tiers should have let you know it was not a finished product. That being said, photo editor are much more opaque interfaces and as more features are added, I suspect the interface is going to get more complicated, not less. Most influencers have limited time to spend on things like HueForge before they have to move on so it's not unexpected that a complicated tool would be minimally dealt with. That being said, we have an active and very helpful Discord who can get you going.
My comment was one of NOT being upset. The interface just doesn’t flow and the features are not that intuitive. From a SW plan to make an interface more complicated to me doesn’t sound like a great plan. More features yes…more difficult 🤷🏻♂️. And everytime a new SW or HW comes out Beta or shipping, the TYubers come out with in-depth how to videos that day. But HF they are not, and when they are showing it, it’s all the same demo. So it’s apparent they can’t make something on their own. And to your point they can’t pick it up and use it easily either to make a video with their own creations. There’s one or two out there, but most none! Look I want to create a whole bunch of projects with your SW, but it’s just not finished. Lastly if your plan is to make the interface more difficult. Some other company will make it polished and easy. Look at Apple look at Bambu. Neither are really innovative. All the tech they package together has been from other companies. They just put it all together and very usable to most people. I do wish you Best of luck!
I had a badass print from an image within an hour. Hardest part was finding out where they had moved some of the buttons. And reslicing after each filament change. It’s not hard once you get the hang of it.
HueForge is getting better and better everday .Good Job.Ty
That's an amazing upgrade , so impatient to be able to test the color pop ... and yes so happy to see the activate/deactivate button of a slider :)
Yay! Was looking forward to this!
This is like Xmas. I bought this app a few days ago and it just saw a very nice update! Nice!
Dude this is AWESOME, thank you very much for this tutorial!
Glad it was helpful!
Very good work, amazing results, im just starting playing with HF and its wonderfull
Thank you. I couldn't make my silly avatar work so will try this method over the weekend.

Hello! Awesome software!
I'm trying to find how to make the Spawn`s eyes green inside the print, just it on green, how to do that?

great video, It sounds like I am ready to move away from greyscale and pop that color. What is the filament set you created for this?
It's really just an example to get you started. Feel free to substitute in your own filaments

How can I color a specific area? A paint tool would be great.
A paint tool and swap-at-layer doesn't really go together very well. Still at some point I might manage that.
wow amazing, will there be even more color stacking updates ?
Yes. Color aware is three color groups stacked

This is a fair comment. I'm going to build a page of example images on the store and link to that
How do I get this update? I bought mine a week or so ago I dont see the color pop option.

how do I update HueForge ?? I don't receive any emails with the update and the Mac version doesn't have a update option
You will get an email when your version has the update. I had to push back the full release so this is Commercial Beta only still.
When will personal users get this update
About a week.

A great feature would be if you could import a mesh,
I tried a dart wing shape, had to scale the STL in slicer, that made everything worse
You can import a mesh. But you can't drape an image over it. You should always scale on HueForge

@hueforging Ok thank you!
Why can’t I add more than 10 colors for my filaments, is that the max?
No, you can add sliders when there isn't any project or image loaded by pressing the + button

wow, great
Will this feature be coming to macOS?
