- This is a freshly remastered version of the 268 bonus footage from my Flintridge & Portola Valley Railway documentary. (see • The Flintridge & Porto... for the main documentary) Tightened up a bit for length and remastered in 1080/60P from the original interlaced footage (60 fields per second) this new version allows you to see fast moving scenes more clearly. The video features the assembly and then firing up of the 7.5" gauge 2.5" scale locomotive, which was newly completed at the time by live steamer Bill Boller.
Sadly, the F&PV railway no longer exists. One owner has passed away and the other moved out of state. The railroad was torn up but many parts and pieces survive at other railroads around California. Enjoy this piece of live steam history. - วิทยาศาสตร์และเทคโนโลยี
Thank you for sharing an updated video, Mike! Love the F&PV RR!! Can't tell you how many times I've watched your video! I was able to visit it years ago and have lunch with the owners. It was a beautiful RR!!
Wow. Beautiful engine and rolling stock.
A gorgeousEngine pulling a beautiful set of cars....!! Very well done indeed, Gents.... Carry on and Cheers....!! Ted Schempp, Nashville
Can never get enough of these videos! 💯
beautiful train in a awesome natural setting..
Read the description, it's a shame it was dismantled. I found it very inspiring. Fortunately the video series you made keeps the story alive
The locomotives are still around though
Nice job on that Economy Fire Door. Rest of the engine and tank are really nicely done.
The steam locomotive is very good👍🏻, I really enjoyed watching the video. good luck for the future
Fantastic locomotive! Cheers Fabrizio . like 23
That is AWESOME!!! ...but where does one find a model train that big, is it privately owned? It's just SO COOL!!!
hi Chris, this was hand built by the owner. It was one of a group of four similar engines built at the same time. If you want to learn about the story of the building of the engines and the track, see my other video here: th-cam.com/video/UeS3DPr1Nsw/w-d-xo.html Cheers
Could you recommend a affordable 7.5 or 4.75 gauge live steam loco
Amazing ❤️
Veramente eccezionale la locomotiva è. Vagoni pure un amico mio che sta vicino a. Perugia nella sua fattoria nel parco di olivi ha una cosa molto simile dove ci ritroviamo appassionati di questi treni che hanno per un grande fascino
This question applies to steam engines as a whole and not just this example. Do the individual pistons exert force on the “push” and the “pull?” Or is it the same idea as a petrol engine where only the “push” of the piston is what gives it rotational power? I’m unfamiliar with the inner workings of the pistons on steam locomotives. I’m learning about the history of the steam era and this question has been hovering in the back of my mind.
The cylinders are push and pull, steam is admitted on both sides of the piston. The valve chest above the cylinder controls admission to either side via a sliding valve and series of slots. At its simplest: th-cam.com/video/ESfSG2OlQYQ/w-d-xo.html
In addition to the "double acting" pistons being pushed at each end, the two pistons on either side are 90 degrees out of phase with one another (linked through the solid axle on the wheels where they are connected). Therefore, one or the other piston reaches a top-dead-center position with steam being admitted four times per revolution, beginning a power stroke every 90 degrees of wheel rotation.
@@billboller268 Ahhh so this makes sense as to how the engineer is able to make the locomotive go in either direction from a dead stop.
That’s very cool are the rails 7 1/2 inches apart?
Yes 7.5" gauge
Are these small locomotives wet steam engines
