    This is an awesome idea! I've no space for a dedicated workbench, so this would be great as I could just clamp it to my table when need be.

    You gave me a good idea of placing metal vice, where ever I want on my work bench.

    Thanks you. Wife recently bought me a Mastercraft Maximum Base Workbench, she won't let me mount any vise. Your idea is really work out. Thanks again.

    I've got my bench grinder on something like that. It works really well. My big Record engineer vice is well and truly bolted down though. It's a beauty (the vice) still got the original transfers on, £20 from a flea market, love it!

    Great idea but I wouldn’t use pressure board, but this works for what you do. Thanks for your ideals.

    Works fine for bench grinders and even small drill presses too.

    One is never too old to learn. I was ready to comment on your spelling of "vice" (rather than the American"vise") and then I thought I should do some research first. I quickly learned that British English (is that the correct term?) uses "vice" to describe a holding tool. Swallowing my pride was uncomfortable. Is there a pun in the previous sentence? Regarding your project...my lack of confidence in matching pieces with contact cement would cause me to rough-cut the polyurethane, glue it to the base, and then trim the excess. The end shot of the device moving around the perimeter of the workbench is nice.

      I had no idea that it was spelt differently in the US, i have changed the video title to include both spellings :)
      Woodworking is a minefield of different spellings. Rabitt/rebate, cramp/ clamp etc Glad you enjoyed the video.

      Oh and there is no need to differentiate British English. There is just English. It encompasses all regional dialects. There are a wealth of differences between counties only afew miles apart, so where it has spread across the globe it binds all the wonderful variations of a language of over 2 million words. You can differentiate a dialect though, such as Scouse, brummie, Black Country etc. So you could call ‘vise’ an americanism. But English is English regardless how you spell it 😊

    Like the real common man approach. Some other vids have guys in pro wood shops making vise mount to mount in a really nice built in vice. Then they say "look easy!"

      It's a 2" bore Flintlock Musketoon. Build video coming soon. It's being fired from a Dutch star fortress end of October, so I was going to get the final footage then :)

      I have a decent overhang on that side of the bench. So its not a problem. :)

  • @conqueringlion420

    Lots of unnecessary stuff going on there, all you need to do is bolt it to a 2x4 call it a day

    • @SwallowForge
      @SwallowForge  ปีที่แล้ว

      I am still using the clamp boards. They are still clean and functional after years of abuse and look tidy hanging from my workbench. A little extra effort early on pays dividends in the long term.
