Thats awesome, I've heard great things about the otways but never really fished there. For me the streams around eildon are where I really learnt how to lure and fly fish
@@HawkesyFishing I fished the Big River years ago. Was awesome. I learnt fly fishing staying with my uncle up Nth East Vic. Mitta Mitta, Kiewa and into NSW on the Tooma and Tumut. God's trout country!
G'day Hawkesy. Love the BFS stuff. Although I fish with spin gear rather then a baitcaster. The feel, the sensitivity. Every fish feels as if it's a monster. Wait till you get a big one on. It really tests everything. But the best thing it does is test your ability as an angler. You can't just muscle your way through. I've chased fish down the river hoping to hell you don't get busted off. I've swapped all of my trebles for singles this season testing myself even further. Not for the faint hearted that's for sure. Glad you had a blast with this type of gear.
Thanks mate! I've dabbled a bit with singles but have always been frustrated with the hook up rate and some point or another. Filming this made me want to try put the barbless singles again though and see how I go
Thanks mate, researched a bit which one to get in that price category and managed to nab one on a good sale. I'll reach out when I'm looking for another but that won't be for quite a while I'd say, pretty happy with what I have now given how much I use bfs
Great video mate, this is my favourite type of fishing though I’m not having much luck with it! What area are you in? Don’t expect you to give up your spot but a new area I could try would be appreciated
It's a winscraft unsure of the model name but I think it's the only glass rod they do, a cheaper model from china just to try out the UL glass bfs thing
It's a cheap rod from china that I didn't know the name for haha. It's a winscraft unsure of the model name but I think it's the only glass rod they do
Always wanted an ultra light baitcast setup for trout fishing!
They are awesome fun, definitely recommend getting one when you get the chance
I grew up fishing the small mountain streams of the Otways. Best memories of wading and casting ahead. Nice one

Kingdom Micro monster, good choice. If you want any other recommendations let me know. In a Vic based BFS youtuber

Looks very familiar water to me.
BFS looks like alot of fun.
Don't think I'll get another outfit past the mrs at the moment tho hahaa.
I'm sure you would recognise it haha, amazed it took me so long to give it a crack there.
The rod is only small, easier to hide 🤣
@HawkesyFishing 🤣🤣🤣
Just caned my brownie points on a 360lt fish tank, need to build up some points again 🤣🤣

Thanks mate, this was up in the eildon area. Pretty much every river and creek there holds trout and most of them have good numbers too
Whats the rod?

Why so coy about telling us about the outfit? 😀

@@HawkesyFishing Thanks mate the action looks great for a bfs rod.
That is a very fishy creek
It sure is, couldn't believe how many were holding in some places
