36 years ago, As a Senior Chief Petty Officer, I performed CACO duties for two sailors. Watching this movie brought it all rushing back to me. May God bless all our departed shipmates.

I got a rock in my throat when he did ‘he’s my brother”. I’ve seen the movie and knew it was coming, but I still got it. I hope these hero’s didn’t die in vain, especially the last 13.
Not too many movies can break me down enough to shed tears but this one did, to all the men and women that serve our country, thank you thank you thank you, for your sacrifice and service 🇺🇸
This is the movie that for me was the most difficult to watch. I was the body escort for a soldier who was KIA during Tet. Even though it was 56 years ago I still remember and will never forget it.
There's always a piece of my heart that goes with every falling Soldier God bless the women and men of the Armed Forces may the Lord be with you always
I recently stumbled across this movie, in a TH-cam clip and watched it, yesterday. The personal dimension to serving one's country, in the defence of that splendid republic (I'm an old British Tommie) was well-depicted and deeply touching; juxtaposed with shots of the American heartland, which made it all the more poignant.
Mine too. I appreciate and echo your comment. Giving it a "like" seems inappropriate regarding the subject matter. May God bless and continue to keep you.
Being a Veteran myself and a father of 2 sons serving in the Army, this movie and all military movies that plays taps and have 21 gun salutes brings tears to my eyes.
When I was on a funeral detail in the Army for 2 months we did dozens of funerals. Every time Taps started we would hear people start audibly crying as we stood at attention. It was so powerful.
This is the most heart-felt scene that I have ever seen. My younger brother fought in Vietnam. Lived his life and now battled the most fearful dreaded disease known to men (cancer). So this film resonated in my life concerning my little brother.
They are just jealous for they have not the courage to be an honorable person . Instead of trying to better themselves , they instead show hatred for the ones who stand tall and have fallen . They will always be that way , wondering what it feels like to be honored among men , to be respected , to stand tall , for they are cowards .
Men and women are the very best our species has to offer. This film had so much inner meaning. Amazon or course changed this video from free to a rental fee ... and I had a good opinion about this company.
Great Grandson of an Army WW1 Vet, grandson of a late US Army (Manley “Bud” Fossen, Korean War, Purple Heart Recipient) veteran. As I grew older my grandfather finally opened up about his service and engagement that involved shrapnel shredding his shoulder while manning a BAR that was providing covering fire for his ambushed unit. He never once complained during his 6 or 7 surgeries, countless rehab/therapy sessions but instead was always thankful his buddies were able to retreat at his physical expense. Military men and women are a different breed. You train, fight, eat, sleep and should the good Lord call your name…die beside each other. Escorts provide a sense of relief to families in knowing their lost loved one was never alone during their passage home. Navy, Army, Air Force or Marines, the US Military takes pride in returning the fallen, HOME. Thank you again to all of you for your service and any physical/mental loss and or trauma endured. As Major Dick Winters said, “It is far easier to find quiet than peace. True peace must come from within oneself.” May God bless your mind to find your peace as we know you cannot unsee the carnage of battles and war.

I wonder how many realise that it's not the Brother who is in emotional turmoil, it's our character. He's been able to keep the coffin at arms length, and here a lone brother drags him into emotion.
I was too young to remember when they brought my Dad home from Vietnam , being only 3 years old at the time but I know that they didn’t show him any respect. The army did but the rest of the country were literally call the men when they came home (baby killers) and spitting on them. My Father was a medic he died while he was help some other Soldier he ran to help another Family son. As he was hit with Shrapnel. He saved that soldier life but ended up losing his. Along with the other soldiers he was going to as he left the first man.
The casket is inside the shipping container so it isn’t damaged and can be accounted for. Once the box is removed the flag is draped over the actual casket.
I want to see this movie. I have watched 1) Lone Survivor 2) Act of Valor 3) Zero Dark Thirty 4) The Kingdom 5) 13 hours 6) American Sniper 7) Patriot's Day I just love watching these type of movies. Thetr is no other way of paying tribute to all these real Navies, armed forces who have been and still are at dangerous grounds overseas. They put their lives on the lines for us. Henceforth, I never forget them. I never forget the ones who died at the Twin Towers, Pentagon when those disgusting terrorists crashed the planes into those buildings which killed thousands of innocent lives. Let's all of us pay our tributes to these armed forces, navies - even those who have retired. We should never forget them at all. Many of them have become homeless. It's shameful. Thus, we should all render all assistance to them, so that they can still find work in private sectors at home ground. To all those who lost their lives whilst fighting terrorists, may you continue to rest in peace.
Even if it didn't, in these cases it goes beyond the colour of the uniform. They're both there for the same reason, afterall. Might aswell give them the salute they deserve. I'm not sure how it works over there in the States, but in my country there is a fierce "competition" between army, airborne and navy. Still, when it happened to us, I didn't care for my airborne uniform nor for the other guys with the army one. I outranked most of them, but they had one who outranked me aswell. To stand among a bunch of army guys, for once, was the least of my problems.
Any officer in any U.S. armed forces branch has the right to give any other servicemen an order. As long as the orders are morally and ethically sound. So Marine officer can give an order to a sailor for example and a Naval officer can give an order to an airmen etc
I had a lot of high school teachers who were vets, and I was raised to appreciate and thank vets, but when I got older, veterans would say to me " don't thank me. I was a monster. Treated like a machine. I was forced to kill an unarmed child." Then one of those teachers put this movie on, I never viewed the military the same way ever again. Thank goodness I was born disabled. My brother, though? No. He's textbook perfect. No disabilities, does everything the way our parents wanted him to, and was skinny, and easy to bribe. My mom once he was in high school, started talking to him. I've got real good hearing, so I don't even try to eavesdrop, but I heard her saying to my only brother, " I want you to go into the air force. Become a pilot. Become an officer." Over and over again and he started believing that was his choice. I knew it wasn't because he hadn't ever gotten a chance to make decisions for himself, but will he listen to his disabled older brother? No. I looked up the killed in action and missing in action numbers for the exact branch, Department, and job, and for 2019 alone? The K.I.A'S were in the thousands! I don't know how I'm gonna be able to heal if I get a call saying he's not coming home. After years of bullying me, he's just now starting to love me again. I just really, really don't wanna lose my only brother.
I hate to do this, love Kevin Bacon hasn't he Marine, but there was no return salute as Bacon was approaching the sergeant, should have been instantaneous, reflexive return shown. Done upon departure. USMMA82

"He's my brother." Most heart-wrenching scene in the film.
I still can't watch this movie without crying. I brought my best friend home in 2008. That's something I will never get over.

My brother was over in that bloody mess. He made it back home, thank God. Lots of sleepless nights wondering if I would ever see him alive again.

I get VERY emotional when Kevin Bacon asked the other military escort if he is related to the deceased
Heart breaking movie. Very heartbreaking.
Almost shed some tears, got me really sad, keeping the soldiers in mind, live near Minneapolis and can't believe that happening to a lot of soldiers.
If you don't feel something tearing at you then you have no soul.
@Dominic edgy as fuck, dominic! I bet youre really tall in real life, too!

"He's not heavy, He's my brother". If you are young, listen to that song.

The thing about this scene is...the Major is his bother as well...Brothers in arms.
To the 21 people who gave this a thumbs down how can you be so heartless.
As retired United States Marines these 21 who gave thumbs down are all cowards period
Always this scene, the dialogue, the music, just like a stab in the heart. :( How many times has this actually happened?
I must add that this was during Vietnam. After stationed in Thailand for a year, got to Dover 67-69...
Do not judge a soldier by the country they represents, rather respect the personal sacrifice they make as a selfless soldier 🫡
