  • True story. Imagine yourself in this circumstance. Mark or Bill, it would be very hard as both of you served during Vietnam. I see deceased military from time to time and work and have performed in a cermony honoring a fallen soldier. It is still hard as I saw "Hell on Earth" as we tried to save as many as we can while in helicopter search and rescue missions.

The moment when he says "He's my brother " there are no honest words can be said.

36 years ago, As a Senior Chief Petty Officer, I performed CACO duties for two sailors. Watching this movie brought it all rushing back to me. May God bless all our departed shipmates.

There are three soul-less individuals that thumbed this down.

I still can't watch this movie without crying. I brought my best friend home in 2008. That's something I will never get over.

That's the most powerful scene in the film, IMO.

I get VERY emotional when Kevin Bacon asked the other military escort if he is related to the deceased

I was too young to remember when they brought my Dad home from Vietnam , being only 3 years old at the time but I know that they didn’t show him any respect. The army did but the rest of the country were literally call the men when they came home (baby killers) and spitting on them. My Father was a medic he died while he was help some other Soldier he ran to help another Family son. As he was hit with Shrapnel. He saved that soldier life but ended up losing his. Along with the other soldiers he was going to as he left the first man.

I got a rock in my throat when he did ‘he’s my brother”. I’ve seen the movie and knew it was coming, but I still got it. I hope these hero’s didn’t die in vain, especially the last 13.

My nephew is an infantry lieutenant, 1st battalion fifth Marines. Just shipped out on deployment......I served 91' to 95' and swat cop 98 to 05. My dad was a drill instructor during Korea. Worry and anxiety are normal now. That's the price of American freedoms. The folks at home fight the wars too.

How can anyone be so callous, non feeling, cold hearted and soulless to give this a thumbs down!

This is the only movie that I cried all the way through.

This is the movie that for me was the most difficult to watch. I was the body escort for a soldier who was KIA during Tet. Even though it was 56 years ago I still remember and will never forget it.

I recently stumbled across this movie, in a TH-cam clip and watched it, yesterday. The personal dimension to serving one's country, in the defence of that splendid republic (I'm an old British Tommie) was well-depicted and deeply touching; juxtaposed with shots of the American heartland, which made it all the more poignant.
