I've done that military honor escort duty when I volunteered to escort my lifelong best friend home for the final time. He was killed in Vietnam, 1967. The "Taking Chance" movie is quite accurate.
As a retired Marine that had to do caco's . He did an amazing job portraying a body escort bringing a a fallen Marine home. Semper fidelis and God bless you.
Great Movie and an incredible performance by Kevin Bacon. If you get the opportunity please share this film with people you know..We need to pay tribute to every soldier that has served..
I just watched the movie! What a beautiful and very touching performance from one of the most underrated actors of our times! I’ve always loved Kevin! The award was so very well deserved! Brilliant man!!👏🏻👏🏻💖
KEVIN BACON IS "the bomb". Fell in love with him in Footloose..he did a phenomenal job in A Few Good Men..& everything else he's ever done!! K&K MAKE A GREAT TEAM.
Back in 2010 I hadn't heard of any of these films. I just heard of Taking Chance this year. Even as a Canadian (who's had military relatives in both Canada and the US) I was touch by this film.
Everybody is somebody, sir. While the US is not perfect, as a Yank who is longlived, I am always proud to be and say "I'm an American ". This movie was extremely well done, and I cried like a baby throughout. I believe Americans are the most generous, kindest folks on the planet. Our ancestors were brave and extremely hard working - we can't match them ' but when the world goes crazy - who do they come to ? Need I say more ? Thanks for your comments - we love Britain, too.
…and thats how an acceptance speech should be. Short, to the point, no grandstanding, no political messages. As Rickey said, “accept your award and piss off!”.
to BigSwampDangle Kevin Bacon does not get drunk before any work or events like this. Couldn't reply there for some reason. Kevin certainly did deserve the award. He is a great actor.
Did anyone else find it odd or disappointing that Bacon thanked all those people - but never even mentioned the men and women that have made the ultimate sacrifice? And how about all of the amazing people that work endlessly to give honor and dignity to the fallen? Bacon certainly deserved the award - but I was just really disappointed that he didn't even mention the true heroes that made it all possible.
He's just an actor (I mean that in a derogatory way) playing a part, his speech says it all. He was playing a roll, deep down it means very little to him/hollywood elites.
@ace1usmc, the story was about Lt Colonel Stroble and his experience in bringing Chance Phelps being taken home for the final time. I've done that duty and the toughest duty that I ever did during my 10 years of US Army Special Forces medevac military service.
Thank you Mr. Bacon. I have four sons and sons in law, all Army. Two were seriously wounded. I can watch a few minutes of Taking Chance but not the whole movie. It is too difficult to get through. I do hope Obama will watch it. Perhaps, just perhaps he will leave the moms and dads and little ones of Syria alone. Jarhead66 RVN 67-68-69
@Kruezoraxe Actually, the guy that the character in Lie to Me is based on (Paul Ekman) has taught the FBI and Secret Service many of the techniques which they now use. He's been doing this research for several decades. The problem is people like the other person to whom you're responding watching one episode of the show and trying to apply the techniques.
@otacon23 Or he was just really nervous. The cool thing about lie to me is that it's right in the name. They're lying to you about the ability to detect lies. It's as realistic as CSI if not worse. There are only two groups of people who are good at lie detection...Prison inmates and Secret Service agents. Those are the only groups who have been able to detect lies under test conditions and have done better than chance. Even the polygraph is 80% and a smart person can fool it in a heartbeat.
What's creepy it's there are not enough amerindien movie because they have so so so more pain !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!😤😤😤😤😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😢😤😤😤😤😤😤🤢🤢😭😭😭😭😭😭 It's not fair!!!!!!!!!! There are not enough real movie and reporters about them
He said thanks to LCmd Mike Strobl and to LCpl Chance Phelps' family, that was a thank you to the military, as a female Veteran, medic, and proud momma of two serving in the Navy, I approve of Kevin Bacon's speech.
Not a traditional military film aka “war movie.” This was based on the real life experience of Marine LTC Michael Strobl who escorted the remains of PFC (posthumous promotion to LCPL) Chance Phelps to his hometown of Dubois WY for burial. It is very respectful of a Marine who made the ultimate sacrifice.
Of all the people he thanked he did not thank the US Military and the men and women who fight, die and, sometimes worse, come home maimed for life. I hate war though I recognize some are necessary to protect our freedom and freedom of the world. I just don't think the ones we are fighting now are necessary and worth the, mostly unknown, price we are paying. Shame Kevin for forgetting these brave men and women.
Well deserved award for Mr Bacon. One of the most emotionally powerful movies out there & and a story every American should know about.

"Let's take care of each other. Peace." Kevin Bacon is the man.
and Kevin deserved it.. such an underrated actor
Underrated is the most overrated word on YT
He was really good in Footloose too. :-)
@@Bruce-1956 Thank you so much for saying that.
Kevin and Kyra's relationship is so heart warming. They're always so happy and supportive of one another.
There was no competition. Kevin earned this award for his performance.
I just watched the movie! What a beautiful and very touching performance from one of the most underrated actors of our times! I’ve always loved Kevin! The award was so very well deserved! Brilliant man!!👏🏻👏🏻💖
Amazing performance. I saw it a few years ago, but it’s one of those stories that stay with you. Well deserved.
I’ve just found this film this few days, and I watched it the other night, as a veteran of the British army. I was moved by it all
He was amazing in the movie. He deserved to win!!!
The absolute BEST movie Kevin EVER made or was part of. I never saluted anyone, until I watched this movie.
Thank you for taking care of our brothers! SEMPER Fi! You deserve that award!!
That was an excellent role and an excellent story. Hats off to Kevin Bacon.
My favorite Kevin Bacon movie. Always tear up when I see it!
The fact that he was never nominated for "The Woodsman" pisses me off to no end. He was utterly brilliant in that film.
David Gonzales I so agree. He can do more acting with just his eyes than most actors can with a whole script.
KEVIN BACON IS "the bomb". Fell in love with him in Footloose..he did a phenomenal job in A Few Good Men..& everything else he's ever done!! K&K MAKE A GREAT TEAM.
A truely wonderful film. The Fallen are treated with much respect and so it should be.
Glad he got the award well deserved and underrated actor so happy for him

Kevin has been amazing since 1980s!!
WOW!!!! Congratulations My Kevin Lots of Love all the best
Seriously.
He did that through his outstanding acting
Great job Kevin !!!!
*A truly remarkable flick and a great performance by Kevin Bacon* !
Well deserved. So much of what Kevin Bacon did in the movie was to react - quietly but with great emotion behind it.
ooo look at kyra she was so excited for her man. i love that couple :)
That was a really great and moving film. Mr. Baconwaa outstanding, as were the other actors.

Kevin deserves so many more awards! Let's take care of each other. Peace. Love him!
One of the best honor movie ever ,Thank you

Kevin Bacon should be an Honorary Marine for his role in this film and A Few Good Men
Excellent movie
Kyra and Kevin lived on my 73rd Street block in NYC. They were always the most friendly, lovely human beings. I miss them.
How proud was Kiera Sedgwick of her hubby.....WOW. What a humble man....
I love Kevin and his wife what beautiful people
Kevin Bacon is one of the finest actors ever to be on the silver screen.
So many great film that kevin did and thank god finally he win an awards

Um.. he DID give a Thank You to Chance's family..if you were LISTENING

We don’t do it for thanks.
Such an underrated actor 🙌🏻
I love you Kevin from 1984 movie Footlose.
He was hammered. Excellent.
I have only seen segments. Plan to see it ALONE soon. Buried my dad, NAVY VET JULY 2021. Taps almost broke me
I grinned when he removed his glasses! Ren McCormack once again! Well done Kevin :D
kevin bacon rocks!
If you can watch taking chance and not cry , I don't know anyone that can't
no just overwhelmed. i think i would be too
Great to hear
So much class
es un actorazo, los golden globes le quedan corto
Great Movie.
Kevin Bacon was the best possible choice to portray Lt Col Michael Strobl.
He did an outstanding job. My second choice for this role would be Gary “Lieutenant Dan” Sinise.
dress is beautiful。
That was a VERY stacked category.
And, in just a few years, Kyra would win an Emmy.
What an eventful year 2010 was for that family!
Great movie
Semper Fi.
KEVIN Bacon , a complete actor, most of the time he was underappreciated, his value is inestimable
He Earned IT!!

I watch this movie every Memorial Day weekend. It’s not National Barbecue.
As slim as he was back in 2010 when he won this award, I wonder if Kevin was still doing all the dance moves he made famous in Footloose.
I watched The River Wild in Geology class XD.
Casal mais lindo de Hollywood! Bacon x Kyra!
Kevin hates public speaking so he's get nervous.
I heard Kevin didn't want to do the film at the time. But, he did a great job.
Hollywood finally gets something right.
Aww.. I feel bad for him because he looks nervous. I’m sure it would be difficult to have to speak in front of your peers like that. Glad he won.
at 0:10 everyone was thinking "WHO THE HELL ARE THESE STARLETS?"
When award shows weren’t shit.
As a Republican - Hollywood has no doubt Now banned him! 😵💫
He looked a helluva lot better with a haircuts
How about thanking the people that paid the ultimate price and were NOT acting!
still hot!

Great film, great performance by Kevin - exceptionally poor speech!

No. Shame on you. He did an entire moving bringing attention to the military and you want to say, “Shame Kevin”..
No sir... Shame on you.
Wow😟
I’m a little disappointed ☹️
I thought he would have gave Chance Phelps the honor and credit
He did, he thanks the Phelps family for letting Chance's story be told.
He could have thanked the military.
the story was about bringing a fallen son home.
he did...
hehe.. look at Tobey Maguire's face at 0:10
Such a disgraceful actor. He's getting an award for a fallen soldier. And still voting for kamala.
Oh just shut up!!!
