Good to see huge boulders are the foundation of the river walls, bonding the fill to prevent wash away is important now. This river has tremendous flow, and with the flow comes extreme power, protect those bridge foundations and approaches. Nice work.
Awesome to see how good the contractors are at their jobs, so the rest of us can once again enjoy driving the Coquihalla. God willing we won't have any more flood catastrophes this year or for many more to come.
Lol I was about to comment that these clips are not chronological and lack context, and that the SteBros have a much better boots-on the ground content
Big money is being spent. But when the will of the nation is challenged, look what can be done? This is the power, will, and strength of a nation that acts as a team to provide the citizens of a nation to move forward. If only we felt the same way about human life, think of what a nation can do to provide the social needs of a nation.
yes, if you do stuff without planning or presentation you are going to get people killed. It may not look good for those who have no idea how construction works but it is the most important aspect of construction. Also if you have ever worked 12+ hours a day in strenuous physically demanding environments you would have done this at some point too
B-roll. Alright. I'll be interesting to drive through there later with that knob of rock missing. Check out the SteBros YT channel for some great insight and information about the repairs and life there for the last month.
They were ALL media and politicians and they are required to wear safety vests and ppe on any jobsite, this is how they get things done and worry about the red tape later
But our technology is also getting better, at a faster rate. Innovation got us into this mess, innovation may/will (in my opinion) get us out of this. Technologies people didn't think were possible 150 years ago caused this mess, so why not have at least some faith that some unforeseeable technology will not give us a chance to fix things in some way.
Why is it that every time I pass a construction site, I always see a bunch of construction workers just standing around, talking, cracking jokes, smiling, like they're out at a pub hanging out, not working. In China they built a hospital in a week last year. We take more than a decade to build a subway line, with people that just hang-out on construction sites. 2 guys working, 8 guys just standing around looking pretty.
Those are all the media and likely government workers being given a tour. You can clearly hear in other parts questions being answered on what is being done.
China has terrible regulations and if you search construction disasters you will find a lot of problems with that industry. Collapsed buildings/bridges, abandoned buildings due to shoddy work, things that don’t last and poor safety standards causing needless deaths. Not condoning so many standing around but definitely want them to do it right over speed.
Standing ovation for all the crews involved in this frontline work. It's paid off! Well done!
What has been repaired and the timeline is truly impressive, well done !,
