Why is the main mechanic, catching spirits, locked behind a sidequest? That seems kinda counterintuitive
It is a bit weird just wise the spirit barn was a bit easier and earlier to access. Especially since moonstones are a bit harder to find than the other gems, which I don't mind, but maybe a few quests leading up to it give you the necessary ingots to make your spirit barn. The upgraded you'd be on your own for, but the base spirit barn items are through the quests leading up to it's recipe or something.
Thank you for clarifying that you don't have to keep it, I asked myself this very question last night while playing!
Now as soon as I get home I'll be hunting for a level 5 and releasing the sucker so I don't lose any of my team members 😂

The big spirit barn from the woodworking guy upgrades the barn without crafting it, but it happens on the next day.
Ok I was trying to figure out how to gain skill points for the Spirits tree, thanks for explaining that!

They actually updated it to where you can send spirits to the science center and they'll hold them for you
Seems really bad that they don't lure you in that direction, unless it's really the first thing you get if your interessted enough to see them at least once, the people I mean.
Oof, maybe they should change it up to lead into that or have tutorial explain this to you so that while you out there, you will actively look for it even if you not being lead to it. It does feel like important info they could've mentioned in the tutorial anyways and would've lead to a lot less confusion and issues.
Also make sure to build surplus of feeders (forgot what they're called), even if you have the barn you'll run into the same mistakes if you don't have feeders to place spirits. Missed out on all the rare psychic spirits because I didn't have any...
I am glad I first unlocked the whole freaking branch for taming in the skill tree... because halfway through the summer season, I realized that all my first 3 spirits were pretty much useless as they do not gain XP fast enough and all the XP reharvestable crops do not grow till fall season and even they do not give enough XP to level up. The best way would be to just try your luck on a little higher level island and just try catch higher level spirit. Doing the same steps over and over for 1.5 seasons I was able to unlock the whole freaking branch for taming and caught lvl 61 Dark spirit Arkeya whose ability almost feels broken and having 2 water spirits of lvl 45 and 50 with Regen and Life pool for support took down the MissingNo on my first try and not mention 15 dungeons in just 1 season.
I feel like moonstone is like the same genre as ooblets(in a way)
Also One more tip: Try to finish the 3 non-Winter temples before Winter; and once you are strong enough to defeat the the Winter Temple for the seal to defeat MissingNo; and once u defeat MissingNo, waldo will give you recipe for Moonstone Machine which dispenses 1 moonstone per day and it takes 3 moonstone to craft it but once you have 9 moonstones you can literally make 1 Moonstone Machine per day!

This almost made me quit the game outright. It was super frustrating to hit that limit in the first hours of the game. I wish they added a larger initial cap so you can at least capture some to figure out your early game team before pushing you to complete this side quest. That being said, the game looks super interesting and I'm excited to check it out more.

I just can’t find more moonstones themselves. So I’m getting really annoyed.
Hey ik this is like 3 months late and you're probably more far into the game, but I find it best to look for them during the night because in most islands there are moonstones that are just hidden in grass. They're way more visible at night because they glow in the grass! I got 9 of then in only 5 game days :)

Played the game and it feels like you're doing a lot of things at the same time nothing is getting done 😂😂😂.
Farming is mediocre nothing unique.
Monster taming is mediocre, you get shiny with nothing special, monster does not evolve (battle system is ok)
exploration is horrible.
There are too many things that make you feel you're not doing anything.
