Saints Row 2 is easily the peak of the series. An interesting and dark story with funny moments done right. The best character, car, and crib customization in any open world game. A HUGE variety of activities, diversions, and collectibles. A wide world with variety, life, and secret areas. Great radio soundtrack, something for everyone. I've been playing the game for 3 years already, and it never gets old.

I love Saints Row 2 to death. But the game certainely is by no means "ahead of its time". I'm so sick of that quote, really. It's just a quote people keep saying whenever there's a game that's over a decade that they love. A game that's truly "ahead of its time" is something like Super Mario Bros, Mario 64, GTA 3 and Halo. These are games that truly revolutionized gaming as a whole.
With that said, Saints Row 2 is still one of my favorite games of all time.

@@Swoiny How did it not? Sure it wasn't the first 3D game, but it pushed the 3D genre forward with it's fantastic analog controls and overall more polished design. Just like how GTA 3 polished the open world crime genre.

@Funkin Cracked gta v came out in 2013, if saints row 3 and 4 had been like sr2 but better we definitely would've cause volition would've also kept their online mode and improved it. So it's not like rockstar would be the only company with an open world crime game with multiplayer.
Imagine if they'd just decided to be lazy. Volition isn't the only company to make this mistake, but they made it big. All they had to do to keep the money train running is take the money they spent on designing the aliens, super powers, and everything else no one asked for... and then spend that money on a few writers that don't suck. Do you feel unsure about the direction your super-popular IP should take? 1. Don't actually take a step at all. Iterate cheaply to buy time if you need to. Gamers will forgive a lukewarm drop that gives them more of the same as long as they liked it in the first place. Make something sucky and you'll never make another. 2. Hire someone that DOES have an idea about the direction your IP should take, and do some basic background work to make sure their opinion doesn't run contrary to what the people that already purchased your previous games want. That's all they had to do. Instead they drove the series into the ground with "innovative" nonsense, then drove the company into ground by doubling down on the superhero BS.

I think they pretty much nailed every music genre on this radio, i kinda like emo/pop rock music and i think the ultor fm/generation x is perfect for that genre, the unfortunate thing tho, the songs isn't that much compared to GTA SA

The endless fun I had in this game, especially with its cheats. Throwing infinite satchel charges at trains and cars, trying to survive getting from one end of the map to the other on foot with Evil Cars turned on, etc

What you can do is make the game fun is if you activate pedestrian war and drunk pedestrian, you're basically playing a zombie game

For what I remember the devs somehow lost the source code of saints row 2, so they were unable to make a remaster like 3 or even retro compatibility like saints row 1. Some time ago they recovered it, so maybe we could get a remaster in the future.

I ended up unlocking unlimted ammo for all weapons and throwables. Got unlimited sprint and no fall damage
I doubt any game will ever top Saints Row 2 for me. It’s literally the perfect Open World Game in every aspect.

@SAUCE GOD to me gta only has graphics on sr2 I mean you can't put chains on Franklin or trevor or Michael you know how critical a chain is to being G? Same with cloths you have to got threw the whole campaign with pedestrian ass clothes something about that takes away the immersive experience gta5 simply flopped on sum level of detail.

Also, my personnal favorite game of all time is Alan Wake, i played over 20 times on Nightmare difficulty and i never get bored of his amazing story, gameplay, ect. Overall, a true masterpiece.

I find it a really nice detail how if you hold a cop or civilian hostage, cops wont shoot but instead try to get around you, but not other gang members, unless you hold one of theirs

One of the best openworld games ever made. Best story, best characters, best map, best customization and best activities :D Saints Row 2 is the best game of the entire franchise.
I still think Saints Row 1 was a bit better in the storytelling department.

Well there are pimp gang in Saints Row 2 that had them wearing their almost the same outfit that based what the Professional was wearing now in the video.
Love how this guy doesn't talk over and interrupt the game voice acting. Man I love Saints Row 2 so much. The orangish grey slated sky when first escaping the Prison and riding the boat back to shore, is *ICONIC!*
The whole graphics of this game and art style feels like home!

I’m replaying this to follow along w your series and I immediately bought trainer shoes for my guy and they look like Balenciaga. I love this game.
In the Japanese version of Saints row 2, you can't use human shield, the second you grab a hobo, you immediately throw them to the ground. The mission Down Payment makes it a lot more difficult to destroy homeless shelter however, it takes a lot more damage from gunfire.

I also like to go after the Ronin before the Brotherhood cause it gives you a better perspective on Vogel. In Ronin arc Boss is unsure wether he can trust Vogel or not and kinda considers him a possible ally. But then in the Brotherhood arc Boss sees Vogel defending Maero’s goons on TV and realizes he’s not to be trusted leading to his decision in the final mission.

I really miss this game, and it is great to see this game again after I was an idiot and traded it in. Personally on the voice, I always went with Voice Number 2 for 'The Boss'. And we get some great voice work from people like Yuri Lowenthal, Michael Dorn, Neil Patrick Harris, Jay Mohr (underrated as a video game voice actor BTW), the returning Daniel Dae-Kim, and I will stop on that before I get too distracted. And this is also the first time I have EVER seen the intro to SR2! I have NEVER seen it before, I mostly went straight to the game. All in all, you really are bringing me back to something that I have missed since I was dumb and traded in both SR and SR2. So for that, I thank you; forever and a day, Professional. And good outfit by the way.

Brings back memories watching this. One of my favorite parts about this game was the dialogue the NPCs randomly said when you explored the map.
I like that one of the combo attacks is just a backhanded pimp-slap that knocks enemies to the ground.
Saints row 2 not only one of my favourite saints row games but it's ridiculously fun and addicting game I love this game.
Saints Row got me into rock music because of their soundtracks and SR2 is by far the best of it's series.

I agree, Saints Row 2 was the best in the series, don't get me wrong, I liked Saints 3 & 4 but 2 will always be my favorite in the series. I like think Saints 3 & 4 are great fun games, but imo they are not great "Saints Row" games. I think If Saints 3 & 4 were part of a brand new series/IP and the characters had different names, then it would've been much better.
That's the only time in the game where the frames just TANK. Currently playing through the game to find out, I'm almost finished the 2nd gang, so far nothing wrong.
The cutscenes in this game are fantastic.
The Ragdoll in this game is just unmatched lol.
Legal Lee is the GOAT. "Anyone Hit, Need a lawyer" lol. Makes me lose it everytime!
Funny enough you almost have the same outfit that my character has, except I have a fedora hat, I went for a Private Inspector type of character, with a brown and gold colored styled suit.
You could also do multiplayer in this game whenever you're finished with the main game. I believe the servers are still up, good opportunity to play Gta 4 Multiplayer too, since the severs for that are also still up.

On pc on the other hand Im getting frame drops when I look at certain áreas randomly but it can be fixed by going to the main menú and resuming the game or if you cant do that just look down until you get away from that área, also the cutscenes are fucked for me, the characters are holding weapons with telekinesis and if the cutscene is in a moving vehicle the characters get left behind by the vehicle until there is a camera cut where they reset.
Now despite all of that Im having a fucking blast playing the game and it is still as good as I remember from when I played it on the ps3 as a kid.
I really hope that they finish the remaster/port that works and has the console dlc soon so I can play it with my friends because I dont want the current pc port to ruin their first experience to this awesome game.
Respectfully i disagree. Saints Row 4, 3, and yes even the reboot are still a saints row game. And i dont think they're THAT bad. Theyre still a great game, and can still offer just as much replay value as much as the og saints row games. Saints Row 1 and 2 may have a heart and soul, but the others still have that saints row spirit.
Now im not knocking on what youre saying, because they couldve improved on some things. But to be completely fair ALL of the SR games are far from perfect, but are still massively better than what we got with gta. Youre free to dislike the reboot, even criticize it, but i personally dont think it is the absolute worst Saints Row game. Regardless of my opinion, i do hope somewhere down the line Volition, or at the very least Deep Silver remasters the first two saints row games.
I recently re-started playing this game, after seven years from first completing its story. This game is fun, but I wish that the side missions to attain respect weren’t always needed. I noticed you’ve made your character look like your SR1 character but relatively thinner. What you said about Ultor is interesting but I would label them as extremely corrupt and very much willing to profit on poor people’s lives. The extent of their corruption is demonstrated later, especially during certain gang arcs. Oh and I finally got to play the first Saints Row as well, it’s a great game.
It's hard to believe that after all this time I'm still learning new things about the saints. I thought the boss was in a coma for 2 years, not 5.

I played all 4 and enjoyed all 4 games a lot, even Gat Out of Hell to some extent, but even then, Saints Row 2 is still my favorite of the bunch. So much depth in the game compared to the rest and that's what I love in my games. Attention to detail.

Even though im a huge fan of the later games, i'd be lying if i said this wasnt my first introduction into the series. It truly is an amazing and nostalgic game. And im glad the soundtrack is still just as great as the newer games.

I got this game last year or 2 years ago and just fucking love both this and SR1. Definitely up there with GTA 4.
I'm still pissed that Saints Row 1 was never released officially on PC like Saints Row 2. Because being a PC gamer myself and being able to play only the second game but not the first one, makes me feel my OG Saints Row experiences very incomplete.

The Saint's do the same in 3 they are everywhere and when it comes to the new gang they are like the real life "columbians" as Professional brings up.
They are much grander and came to power easily because they were already powerful before taking over stillwater
Now 4 on the other hand... it makes cars useless (and the cutomization is there but who cares) since running is much faster with the superpowers, and it's just 1 example

The fps drops were even on the original hardware also fun fact: ultor is actually the name of an another evil corporation in the red faction series and it was also designed and developed by volition. Furthermore the teleporting into the car glitch that exists on saints Row 1 works on saints row 2 since they were made kinda in the same engine and some things from saints row 1 were ported over to saints row 2.
