How can you leave Viktor Sanyeyev off this list? Four Olympic medals and former World record holder. Three Olympic Gold and one Silver. No one on your list comes close to dominating like he did.
I agree. I think this list is compiled based more on personal bests than feats. Not only Saneyev should be there but Josef Szmidt and Adhemar da Silva.
ye, imagine that, first round TJ at the Olympics and everyone jumping first round jumps of 17.30's, 40's to be safe to get a jump on the board. Then the task ahead to break the world record is to find another metre....I was gutted the 18.43 was with 2.4 wind. Oh man, 0.4 too much. Such a small margin.
Went to High School with #2 Mike Conley- most amazing total athlete I have ever seen. Football Wideout (4.35 40), Basketball point guard (48" vertical), track star
I also went to High School with him. He beat me in the triple jump to win first in the state finals. He was a sophomore and I was a senior. I knew then he was a great athlete. He was also a really nice guy. Yea Mike!
Absolutely agreee with you - Banks had a very disappointing Olympic career and a World Championship silver medal in 1983 is scant reward for the talent, entertainment value and general interest he brought to the event in the 80s. Mike Conley I think is still the best combination long / triple jumper of all time (not totally ignoring the likes of Will Claye and Christian Taylor) and his championship record is one of the best ever.
pllwstn1564 Lol, seriously, you don't even see the failed logic in that with at least one medal being afforded him with dodgy offialdom and let's not mention any other Iron Curtain shennanigans...
I understood that this video contains the 10 longest jumps ever. Saneyev's best jumps do not any longer belong to the 10 bests but he is the all time greatest long jumper with his three Olympic gold medals and several world records.
Edwards worked on his speed between the jumps and even today no one else can maintain such speed no wonder why he still has the record and until we see someone extremely jumpy guy WR will stay there
that was a fantastic 7 minutes. Many great memories and performances. Thank you Magnusur1. Victor Saneyev should fit in via his wonderful performances for such a long time. He lives here in Sydney now, coaching. He cannot move very well now.
saneyev the only one missing..everyone moves one place down except edwards...might have an argument to place banks higher also..but pretty accurate list and good footage. thanks!
3 Olympic golds are very impressive but after all he's only jumped 17.44. that's a few inches shorter than anyone on this list. Considering that the world standard were raised during the 80'sand kept about the same level since then there is about 100 jumpers who has gone farther than him.
Nice work!! I'd have mentioned Lenard Volshin (excuse spelling.) His distances were good I believe 17.70s not sure if it was a Russian record.. Also the Amigo Yolves Quesada !!! Again spelling off...Also up date for 2013 and 2014... A certain French lad may touch that 60 foot by the end of this season, all goes well.. either way he's in the 18m club also thanks for placing Mike 'the man' Conley up there... with the 18.17m still gutted to this day about the. +.1m/ps wind.. Gold is Gold... Does anyone have footage of the top all-time junior TJs?
My aspiration is to someday beat Edwards' record. Thanks for making this video with clips from all the best triple jumpers in history, I'll try implement the best traits of each into my own TJ
And to think Edwards once refused to compete in a championship because it took place on a Sunday? Watching Doha 2019 Triple jump and think crickeys thats gonna be one tough WR to beat .
How do you not have Saneyev on this list? 3 Olympic Golds plus a silver just shy of 35 years of age plus World Records and European Championships. His overall achievements in the sport should rank him just behind if not ahead of Edwards.
@@chrishannaford4332 he didn't win in Moscow, but I am more than willing to consider the circumstances and whether or not he should have been awarded the silver medal
Actually, Arthur Partyka and Bohdan Bondarenko make a high clarence in high jump, the two jumps are over 2.50m, the highest jumps ever, trust me, the High, Triple and Long Jump Are my probes ;) sorry for the bad english
It will be many years before anyone even gets close to that jump of 18,43 meters. Ok, the wind was too strong so it does'nt count officially as a world record, but that was still an absolutely monstrous jump. It's still very rare, even now, to see a triple jumper get anywhere near 18 meters. But that jump of Edwards was nearly 18 and a half meters!! He was a freak on his day.
My ranking from 1980 to 2019: 1) J. Edwards and C. Taylor 3) M. Conley 4) K. Harrison 5) J.C. De Oliveira (the greatest triple jump talent ever. He was the first who jumped over 18 meters in Moscow 1980, but unfortunately the judges, all russian (!!!), "cheered" for the soviet jumpers, expecially for Sanayev.) 6) N. Evora 7) C. Olsson 8) H. Markov 9) P. Idowu 10) T. Tamgho and W. Claye
You're right, I didn't think about that:-) But Conley has won a lot more championships than Banks, so I still think he deserves to be ranked higher than him.
So what's the Record? 60'5" *Feet/Inches or just over 60' Feet. And if it is just over 60' wht is the exact measurement? I guess the 60'5" did not count because of the wind behind him?
I "Liked" this, but no Viktor Saneyev? Maybe you were planning to make him number 0, and the tape ended early? The standard for real greatness must always be how an athlete fared against the best competition available in his/her time. Saneyev is untouchable there.
hello. have you ever heared of Victor Saneev?!?! he has won 3 gold and 1 silver olimpic medals and noone has repeated this result yet! and will not repeat in the future. all these guys are nothing compare with him
For me in 2021 : 1) Viktor Saneyev 2) Christian Taylor 3) Josef Szmidt 4) Jonathan Edwards 5) Mike Conley 6) Kenny Harrison 7) Christian Olsson 8) Khristo Markov 9) Nelson Evora 10) Joao Carlos de Oliveira
Guys of course Saneyev was an incredible athlete and remains as one of the greatests triple jumpers of all time but the video is clear: it shows the 10 best jumpers in terms of LENGHT of personnal best.. so here saneyev has no place even though it was completely different times
Measures are not everything: the real podium should be Saneev-Prudêncio-Gentile. 5 world records from three unbelievable athletes in just one competition. An Olympic competition!
Christian Taylor now has the second longest legal jump of all time. 18.21m achieved at the 2015 Beijing World Championships.
Edwards jump of 18.43 was ridiculous. Had that stood, it wouldn't have been broken for at least half a century.
ye, imagine that, first round TJ at the Olympics and everyone jumping first round jumps of 17.30's, 40's to be safe to get a jump on the board. Then the task ahead to break the world record is to find another metre....I was gutted the 18.43 was with 2.4 wind. Oh man, 0.4 too much. Such a small margin.
Jonathan Edwards 18:43 (+2.4) shame of the wind, but what a jump !!!
Went to High School with #2 Mike Conley- most amazing total athlete I have ever seen. Football Wideout (4.35 40), Basketball point guard (48" vertical), track star
+Keith Costa That's pretty cool
I also went to High School with him. He beat me in the triple jump to win first in the state finals. He was a sophomore and I was a senior. I knew then he was a great athlete. He was also a really nice guy. Yea Mike!
You can add a free throw line dunk to that, Mind you he left 6 inch before the line and did it with his weak hand...
Markov's technique - the best technique ever ! Amazing...
Absolutely agreee with you - Banks had a very disappointing Olympic career and a World Championship silver medal in 1983 is scant reward for the talent, entertainment value and general interest he brought to the event in the 80s. Mike Conley I think is still the best combination long / triple jumper of all time (not totally ignoring the likes of Will Claye and Christian Taylor) and his championship record is one of the best ever.
edwards speed on the runway is awesome!
Lastest News Teddy Tamgho : Moscou 2013 he bacame the world champion with a jump at 18,04 m ! Third man above 18 meters ! Awesome video :)
I would go with Saneyev- 3 Olympic golds and 2 world records- still, a great film to watch
pllwstn1564 Lol, seriously, you don't even see the failed logic in that with at least one medal being afforded him with dodgy offialdom and let's not mention any other Iron Curtain shennanigans...
Great complilation, but as you've seen to have done it to include windy jumps too Banks would be before Conley (18.20m to 18.17m)
I understood that this video contains the 10 longest jumps ever. Saneyev's best jumps do not any longer belong to the 10 bests but he is the all time greatest long jumper with his three Olympic gold medals and several world records.
When you look at Jonathan Edwards you can see effortless natural talent and technique
Edwards worked on his speed between the jumps and even today no one else can maintain such speed
no wonder why he still has the record and until we see someone extremely jumpy guy WR will stay there
Edwards also was as fast as the best Olympic sprinters over the first 30 metres
This has made my very short list for best olympic sports
He missed Victor Saneev, three times Olympic Gold champion.
that was a fantastic 7 minutes. Many great memories and performances.
Thank you Magnusur1. Victor Saneyev should fit in via his wonderful performances for such a long time. He lives here in Sydney now, coaching. He cannot move very well now.

Stanford Clarke You should try AntoninPauvarel video of the "Top ten triple jumpers of all time" Enjoy!
thanks
Your very Welcome.
Where is Victor Sanyev, the three times Olympic winner?Probably the greatest of them all.
Great video. But I do miss the old great names: Saneyev, Adhemar sa Dilva & Jozsef Schmidt. All at leaste double Olympic winners & WR-breakers.
...I guess white boys can jump
Wardog6650 vertically or horizontally? Lol
Unless it’s with a hurricane behind them no one is jumping further than 18.43 this century.
My aspiration is to someday beat Edwards' record. Thanks for making this video with clips from all the best triple jumpers in history, I'll try implement the best traits of each into my own TJ
My ranking:
1) Edwards

3) Conley
4) Sanayev (3 olympic titles)
5) Harrison
6) Markov
7) Idowu
8) Tamgho
9) Olsson
10) Evora
These guys are legit my heroes.
And to think Edwards once refused to compete in a championship because it took place on a Sunday? Watching Doha 2019 Triple jump and think crickeys thats gonna be one tough WR to beat .
Awesome compilation! Well done!
Absolutely fantastic athletes. I'm having an omelette and going for a run!
You can se who has really good technique and who is just a brute force and some with a combination of both.
this is really good info, thx bro i need it for a project
who said white people can't jump
Teddy Tamgho is now the 3rd best world performance of all time. and I think he can beat the world record. he did 18m04
The guy from Sweden is not fucking around
You can see the seriousness in his expression lol
at age 16 my personal record was 14.71 and Hristo Markov was a star back then. Any other jumpers here? What was your personal record?
My Record 1 meter
Absolutely brilliant video. Shame Pedro Pichardo's exploits this year mean you have to remake it!!
There is no Victor Saneev, three times Olympic Gold medalist
Pichardo today Gold Medal Tokio 2020
This video made me happy
Viktor Saneyev - three consecutive gold medals? However, I'm guessing you don't have footage of him.
Awesome footage

Should not have won at Moscow in 1980 Ian Campbell of Australia was cheated out of the gold
@@chrishannaford4332 he didn't win in Moscow, but I am more than willing to consider the circumstances and whether or not he should have been awarded the silver medal
@@stevegeorge6880 my apologies Saneyev got silver Uudmae won the event
Edwards was sooo explosive....
but that technique! He just loses so little speed in the step compared to anyone I've ever seen.
Awesome video.
Thank you so much I absolutely loved this video!!! So helpful!
Actually, Arthur Partyka and Bohdan Bondarenko make a high clarence in high jump, the two jumps are over 2.50m, the highest jumps ever, trust me, the High, Triple and Long Jump Are my probes ;) sorry for the bad english
Atlanta 1996
watching this made me remember the travesty in the 1980 Olympic triple jump.
Willie bank is my buddy 😂 like for real though she's so great!!!!
My all time favourite triple jumper... Always loved the way he started the rhythmic clap thing from the crowd.
This vídeo is the best !
I agree, they were GREAT!

He was a freak on his day.
It's a shame because I bet if the wind was legal it would still be a 18.35 jump
JONATHAN EDWARDS PUEDE SER UNO DE LOS MEJORES ATLETAS DE LA HISTORIA...PARA MI EL MEJOR...
Как можно забыть Виктора Санеева это великий спортсмен очень мало о нем пишут
Wicemistrz Z.HOFFMANN !
maybe because they jumped about 1 metre less although Saneyev's Olympic record is phenomenal
Kenny Harrison's Olympic record still stands.
Just when I thought 37' was good for an 8th grader...
Thanks for that!!!!! I love triple jump!!
Awesome video!! Interesting order of the top 10! Not liking the song choice though...
Nice video !!!
Markovs tehnique is amaizing...
The best of the best is Viktor Saneev. You mast leon histori!
very good!!!
What happened to James beckford 17.92 top ten jump
Primera vez que veo un blanco tomar el cielo en atletismo...en un deporte .y no creo que vaya a ser superado Más
.felicidades a Edwards

Crazy how much this changed lol 2018
Either can be used depending on the usage and sentence structure.
@Magnusur1 WHERE IS VICTOR SANEEV ? This list is useless without him. He won three Olympic Gold.
Pedro Perez Duena a Cuban world record holder from Pinar del Rio,I used to live in the same neighborhood,Rafael Ferro 115
Road to 19 metres. What a HUUUGEEE ?
Edwards’ 18:43 is a thing of beauty.
the 4 dislikes are the ppl who cant even hit the pit......
Teddy Tamgho and now the 3rd best world performance of all time. and I think he can beat the world record. he did 18m04
Saneyev ?
Where's Saneyev?!
0:05 How did you sync the jumper with music rythm??? Can you rlly do it in Movie Maker? Great vid btw
You're right, I didn't think about that:-) But Conley has won a lot more championships than Banks, so I still think he deserves to be ranked higher than him.
Love it 😍
So what's the Record? 60'5" *Feet/Inches or just over 60' Feet. And if it is just over 60' wht is the exact measurement? I guess the 60'5" did not count because of the wind behind him?

24 years pal.
This needs an update

You forgot Ademar Ferreira da Silva Bi Olympic Champion
You'll have to beat me then. :) Hope to meet you out there someday!

Anybody else notice how much triple jumpers are built and look like 800 runners?
4:38 ken looks like will smith
name of song?
Statue of Liberty-XTC
Why does the title contain the qualifier (men)? Surely these are the best triple jumpers....full stop.
