    Let's be real, if this had an Audi or BMW badge, Tiff and Jason would be handing out 8's and 9's. I love their track battles over the years, but they're badge babies of the worst kind. Johny is the only fair one.

      @@aaryeshg.6526 that proves my point. They "really liked it", but only gave it a score of 27/40???
      Giving a car you really like a score of 67% is bullshit. If you slapped a German badge on the exact same car these fools would've awarded it 36/40.

      @@cdb5001 Well, I am not a Volvo fan even I live in Finland, but I like the style of the estate. However, keep in mind that every manufacturer has a budget, and some prefer to spend more on interior quality than under the hood. Given that Volvo is made by Geelly, don't expect much from under the hood and chassis department.

      Piotr Wojcik You’re not comparing apples with apples. I bought a Skoda Superb Sportline/Estate in Europe? I’m in Australia & it’s unbelievable! I bought the 206kw model AWD & I could not be happier. I actually traded in a Mercedes GLC which for me was not suitable. Having said that, I have had a Volvo in the past & IF I was to consider another model this V60 would be very high on my list! They look great👍🏼

      I switched my MB CLA Shooting Brake for a Volvo V60, and I'm still regretting the switch to Volvo at least once or twice a week.
      The comfort is way off when you have experienced MB, I complained about the seats being awful, they would look into it, but so far (3 months already) no news...
      When I have a sore back, driving to work or back home can be a real pain.
      The screen is sweet, but when you're driving, and you need to tamper with a touchscreen, it's far from safe. In the MB I had this turning button which was really useful to go through all the menus.
      The D3 150 bhp is okay, but does not like a sporty driving style. Also, engine control is below par : cruise control can go easily 8 -9 km/hr off when going up or down hill...
      One thing though, when on the German Autobahn, this V60 is like a part of the road, no matter what speed you're going. But that's about it.

It's comfortable, Rides and Handles well, although I have never sat in the back, so can't comment on the rear ride? The bootspace is really adequate for this class. Overall it is a true gem of a car. If you like a more sporty experience I would recommend a BMW. I haven't driven the new C class, I cannot tell. But when you drive a car like this, you know why you like BMWs. Anyway I would not mind to have this instead of a BMW. It's a different philosophy in the car world - and I like that.

    Does anyone else get the feeling that Audi drivers are buying Volvos? I'm increasingly tailgated by people in these new Volvos (although they've a lot of work to do to catch up with Audi drivers).

    • @stevecooksley

      I have an S90 and sometimes the tailgating is down to an unpredictable pilot assist - it takes way too long to recognise the car in front is slowing down and is up your tailpipe before you know it. • @mrg-ghx8052
      @mrg-ghx8052 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benjaminsmith2287 let me explain the way I see it. There's a distinct difference between a brand like RR which is a "Prestige or Luxury" brand only very few can afford.
      Then you have the mainstream "Premium" brands. The true meaning of the word premium means to pay more than necessary. So here we see brands like Audi, Mercedes, BMW, Lexus, Land Rover and Jaguar. Volvo make some premium products, more than ever before but I don't regard them as a premium manufacturer, let's remember they still make trucks and plenty of other great quality machines. They're more Toyota than Lexus, reliable, safe, you can see value in their products when in comparison to a BMW or Mercedes and it should all stay that way.

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mrg-ghx8052 Mercedes makes trucks as well and buses. And they're used as cabs in much of Europe. Premium doesn't mean luxury. It means above average or high-quality mainstream and can be Mazda or Acura. Volvo definitely is on a higher level than Toyota, which is mainstream. If you don't want to put Volvo with Mercedes, and some people would, they are certainly above Toyota and at least with Acura and Infiniti. But I've read many Volvo reviews and the reviewers identified as former Mercedes and Audi owners that said Volvo is every bit as good as their former cars. Volvos are now chic and stylish and no longer just safe and reliable. And they're expensive. And, to be honest, while they are very safe, they're not all that reliable. They are expensive to maintain Euro cars with the typical Euro issues.

    • @mrg-ghx8052
      @mrg-ghx8052 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@benjaminsmith2287 I agree and I think the current Volvos are much more competitive towards the German brands and way more stylish than the older models. I don't regard the "Premium" sector as a good place to be. In many cases you're looking at overpriced, average and yes sometimes unreliable cars an little to no value. The more Volvo try to compete and be "Premium" the more they are forgetting their core values and ticking the above boxes.
      Volvo is Volvo, you should know what you will get. Stylish, Efficient and Safe at a reasonable price. At least that's how I thought it was.

    • @benjaminsmith2287
      @benjaminsmith2287 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@mrg-ghx8052 I think the efficient, reliable and safe car is now Subaru since they've up the crashworthiness of their cars last generation. Volvos are pricey due to their tech and positioning in the market. It's tricky to say what the premium market is because the word is used differently by different people. Volvo is a rung lower than Mercedes, Audi, BMW, Lexus or Jaguar but it is considered near premium or executive class so it is a rung higher than Toyota, Ford, etc, and probably where Lincoln, Acura are (but it has been that way for a while). Currently it is becoming more of a European premium alternative for those that don't want the German lux cars. The SPA cars, particularly the xc90 as it is fairly popular, in my opinion, has raised Volvo's status and Volvo has even spun out their sports/lux electric division in Polestar.

      They have in no way skimped on the rear suspension, it's actually a very good and very expensive layout. Same with the fronts. It's completely multilink and independent aside from the main composite leaf spring. Provided you get a car without air suspension. With air suspension it is fully independent suspension at all 4 corners. The car is made more for stability and safety as a priority. But it must also be said that the 60 range (S/V/XC60) are designed to be the more sporty cars, 90 range cars the most premium and comfortable.

      @@deafyboy86 the composite leaf spring is what im talking about. that does not belong on any 2019 volvo imo. im sure it has its advantages but i prefer more sophisticated tech in my car suspension, especially if its sporty - would have to go air on the new ones. the rear suspension on my 2006 volvo hardens as you gun it from 0 to compensate for rear squat down and softens up when you get to speed, it also hardens the front shocks when i begin to make a hard turn. composite leaf springs aint doing that and thats why i dont get why they are going back to a less advanced technology 13 years later. unless its to save money and repair costs thats why i believe they skimped

      @@danieltrankina1520 I don't believe they skimped. The other car with the transverse leaf springs is the Corvette. I believe they did it for the dynamic qualities.

      @@benjaminsmith2287 i get what you're saying but the 4Cs system they used in late 2000s was way more dynamic than leaf spring. So much more complicated, and variable! Im curious to see how the air suspension feels, leaf spring is not gonna cut it for me though

      @@danieltrankina1520 Yeah, when I think of leaf spring, I think of truck suspensions. But this is different. I found this on a plastics site and I'll put the link here and quote the relevant part: www.plasticstoday.com/content/composite-transverse-leaf-spring-lightweight-compact/18933492321648
      "The suspension of the new Volvo XC90 employs a transverse fiber-reinforced composite leaf spring instead of the usual array of coil springs. This gives rise to a highly compact design as well as generating a weight saving of some 4.5 kilograms compared to a conventional coils spring concept. Further functional benefits arise from a smoother ride and improved NVH (noise, vibration, harshness) behavior. The trunk volume is also increased because there are no suspension turrets."
      So, apparently, the theory is it improves NVH and it is also not necessarily easier to do or cheaper. They tested an R design in this car so perhaps the rear is set up stiff to keep the body motions in check. My ex-wife's s40 felt that way. It was much stiffer in the back than front but never heard any complaints from rear seat passengers. I believe there is a 4C option on at least s60s and I think the V60s have an air-suspension option. I wouldn't get those, they tend to break and cost a ton to fix.
