Hey everyone - firstly - thanks Hard Knox Games for taking the time to make the video! I'd like to just give a little insight into our design direction here... Angel is a great teacher, making loads of awesome content to support others in their learning and painting journey. He does have a very specific trigger technique, and one of the major goals for the Giraldez Infinity was (knowing that most of the customers would be Angel's fans!) to give people an airbrush that would actively support them in learning how to paint in the same technique as Angel, and therefore to support his teaching. After lots of time together, we came to understand that he has a very particular method for detail work... You'll notice that he pulses the trigger on every stroke, and what we discovered is happening, is that he places his finger towards the rear of the trigger pad, so that when he pushes it down, the pressure on the rear of the pad tends to very slightly begin the opening of the needle as he is pushing the trigger down. It's very subtle, but that's the technique. So what we did on this one, was to firstly stand the trigger up a little more vertically (if you put it side by side to a stock Infinity, you'll notice this) and secondly, we wanted to design a trigger top which causes the user to place their finger towards the rear of the trigger pad. It's a very intentional design - the front part IS uncomfortable by intent - we don't want you to put your finger there, if you want to learn to paint with Angel's technique! These two details work together to make it more reliable to get that very slight rearward pressure onto the needle as you depress the trigger. We sent several iterations of this to Angel with different levels of this feature, but without telling him what we did. His comment was basically that he found the trigger opening right at the very front more controllable. As we always do with development, we had a couple of placebo triggers in there, and he didn't feel that they helped as much. So I think that we did hit the mark in terms of the result. What is debatable is whether would could achieve the same end result in a manner which is ergonomically more flexible for different styles of finger placement on the trigger. This is where we are focussed now, as we think about how to further improve the Giraldez concept. I hope that this has been useful information to all of you asking this question! I don't like it at all I just picked one up for review and I put it straight back in the box to arrange a refund, I might point out all the problems I've found with it in a review now it's here but I'm not a fan of the trigger or the weight or the trigger height and stiffness!! It also feels very cramped to use it his way or useless and seems you designed an airbrush based around a handful of customers, I paint models and I absolutely hate it on contact hahaha I feel the weight and trigger more limiting when it comes to doing detailed work..😔
In a sense, you're totally right. It's built specifically built for people who wish to learn to paint in the same style as Angel Giraldez. He has a very particular way of using the trigger, and we designed the trigger to cause the user to put the pressure of their trigger finger in the correct place to emulate Angel's technique i.e. behind the centre of the trigger stem. When he pushes down, he is already exerting a small rearward force on the needle, and this is how he sketches in his detail. It's a fairly unique method, but clearly works exceptionally well for him, and those who wish to learn his method. @@harderairbrush so would I be correct in assuming that the ultra trigger will fit this airbrush and is the ultra trigger shorter that this because if I keep the airbrush I want the lowest profile trigger available! I don't care if it doesn't match chrome wise because my friend at golden solutions 24ct gold plate it for me..
The trigger from the new ULTRA 2024 will not fit this, as it has some specific engineering on it to give functionality suitable for beginners. However, the trigger from the old Ultra will fit.@@printitpaintit.2436
Umm… just bought one of these. And am having a bit of a time getting used to the trigger. However, I put my fingernail over the front edge of the new trigger’s peak, and that has helped substantially.
I bought a spare trigger for the Infinity CRplus and it works just fine. For those who are also willing to spend the extra cash to get themselves a „normal“ trigger without damaging the original one this could be an option to consider. It’s spare part number is 126174.
@Bra1nbug I used a small file to round the edges of the trigger shaft so it would just barely spin around. Then I also rounded the edges of the lip on the part that sticks up so it didn't dig into my finger.
@Bra1nbug I just found out from dred fx that the top of the trigger on H@S comes off from the stem. I just tried it on my Giraldez and my other CR plus. You can just pull it out and turn it around. Would've saved me some time had I known that earlier.
@@ericgilnack7383 thanks for the head up,i have the new infinity and did not like the trigger ,so i gripped the trigger in soft pliers, and use an other set to turn the trigger around no need to take it off.
I was considering returning mine until I read that you could rotate the trigger. I’ve turned mine around (pliers on the shaft and wooden peg on the trigger pad) and it’s much better. The standard trigger would be even better though…
You can change needle size in PS-270 - needle, nozzle and cap needs to be bought from PS-289 and you'll have 0,3mm brush. Basically the same swap as 0,2-0,4 HS.
So not sure if it is the case here but the Cult of Paint Infinity had a similar trigger and you can rotate it. I actually found having the lip on the inside of my finger felt good. I could apply a little sideways pressure without any downwards, that gave me better control when I actually painting.
Thank you for the video. One year later and the Giraldez Infinity is my only H&S airbrush that I do NOT use. My standard version Evolutions (3x) and Infinitys (2x) I use on a daily basis.
gotta say, this is one that definitely differs from user to user. I watched your Video review, then also watched Dread Fx's review. I decided to give it a shot and order it. I LOVE THE TRIGGER. again, I relalize that is a personal choice, but I love the lip at the front, and love the overall smoothness and predictability of the trigger. I'm waiting for the new Infinity 2024 I will try it out however it ships, but won't be surprised if I check to see if I can order the Giraldez trigger because I like it so much.
I feel the same way. Love everything about the Giraldez infinity except that lip and also find myself wiping paint of the end of the needle every two minutes unless my paint is well past glaze dilution
I personally love the little trigger notch as it helps me with the tiniest and lightest of control touches. I actually have issues with all my other air brushes that they don't have it. I use a tiny ball of blutac on my others to help with the grip. My only .. and its only a teeeny tiny gripe with the grip notch is that it is maybe a teensy bit on the pointy side. if it was slightly rounded off more for comfort i think it would be 100% then for me. However i totally agree this airbrush is for highly detailed miniature work.
I have this airbrush and absolutely hate the trigger. H&S please came up with and optional part. I like the length of the brush, the sketching caps, the ease of maintenance but hate the trigger.

Right now I have regular Infinite CR plus and ther is small delay when you press your trigger and get your paint out, so it little inconsistent compare to iwata. Did H&S fix this in Giraldez edition, is trigger get more snapy? Thanks for honest review!

For beginners I reccomend the Iawata Eclipse. So far its my fav brush. Its pretty affordable (I think I paid like $120 for it a couple years ago). I havent tried H&S airbrushes yet, but the Badger Sotar 20/20 is a disappointment. Constantly clogs and the trigger constantly sticks (yes I oil them, dont have these problems with my Iawata). Been using my Iawata for years with zero issue. As for paints, I recommend Molotow. They are extremely affordable, covers insanely well and flows even better out of the airbrush. They have a really strong flat matte finish (which I prefer). And you can manhandle the mini without worrying about the paint coming off. Nothing remotely compares to Molotow paints for airbrushing minis.
I’m gonna give you good news… -Take 2 pliers about medium size, and a thin towel or kitchen paper. -Take the plain, painting-directioned surface, at the lower of the trigger with one plier. Use a little piece of paper or thin towel, to not scratch the surface. -With the second plier, take another paper (just to protect), and take the upper rounded part of the trigger. -Avoid taking the aluminum part at any time with any of the pliers, so they will destroy it. -Twist the top, until the protuberanced part is at the rear. -Done 😊
Double sided tape and some fine grit sandpaper fixes them triggers, I stole that from Steven Leahy lol Also there's a fix for trigger response on H&S so it's more consistent
that front lip makes zero sense. it was the deal breaker when I saw the image on the H&S website. I could immediately imagine how terrible it would feel
We actually tried to take it apart and see if it could be reversed, but unfortunately, nope. It may be slightly uncomfortable for bigger hands, but it's definitely sturdy!
A couple of youtube airbrush artists commented H&S trigger response was never as good as iwata. Channel called Dred FX just installed a mod that fixes them.
@@LemurKrazy Have you a link for that modification (I don't recall seeing such on his channel 🤔). My only suggestion is fit an Evolution trigger, they seem slightly smoother in operation (for various reasons) and that might just help with more consistent paint uptake/delivery 🤔 But don't hold me to that✌️😊💜
It's not your fingers it's the airbrush it's garbage I just purchased one and a £65 Olympos HP-62B wipes the floor with it literally garbage.. I used it for 5min and put it back in the box to return for a refund, didn't like the stiff trigger plus it stands quite high and takes twice the pressure to press than an eclipse or CM-B. I hate that stupid lip as well just ruined the trigger for me!!

i reversed my trigger after about 15 minutes of airbrushing with mine. after that, its been great
how did you reverse it? I thought the new oval form of the trigger shaft, doesnt allow it to spin anymore.

I think that trigger is slightly taller too? I wouldn't mind reverse engineering them into my H&S brushes🤔🤔
The stem of the trigger has also been reengeniered compared to the Infinity so sadly you can't rotate it. A major downside on an very cool airbrush.

the needle is not made for modellers, plus not polished enough.
Is there a tiny bit of free-play in the trigger?

Cant you simply turn the trigger around like in my badger ? Perhaps the lip on the back could be more helpful for control , only a thought
I am able to use the 5ml cup comfortably now. It took me a while to get used to it

I think the consistency is about the same. I just like how the chameleon feels more than anything.
Lol, I have one and grinded off that ridiculous lip the first day. Feels alot better now, overall my favourite brush.
I cant help thinking the Grafo t1 is a better choise for detailed work were you dont need alot of paint, or need to change paints often.

Yea you can
Nothing can top the chameleon. The cult of paint infinity comes close but that 0.4 that acts like a 0.2 is kinda tricky to master in my opinion.
Kyiv Infinity is basically the Chameleon. Infinity CRplus with aluminium body.

I have grind the tip on the trigger Down , and it is much better 😊
Are you not able to turn the trigger around so the lip was the opposite side? That would have given the trigger more grip.
